Britain has never been ‘naive’ about Iran’s nuclear programme, a spokesman for the government said on Monday night, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Islamic Republic of lying to the world about its ambitions.
The spokesman also said inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are vital to ensure Iran’s nuclear programme is used for peaceful means.
Netanyahu stepped up pressure on the United States to pull out of a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, holding a primetime address on Israeli TV to present what he called evidence of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons programme.
‘We have never been naive about Iran and its nuclear intentions. That is why the IAEA inspection regime agreed as part of the Iran nuclear deal is one of the most extensive and robust in the history of international nuclear accords,’ a British government spokesman said in a statement.
‘It remains a vitally important way of independently verifying that Iran is adhering to the deal and that Iran’s nuclear programme is exclusively peaceful.’
Intelligence experts and diplomats said Netanyahu did not seem to have presented a ‘smoking gun’ showing that Iran had violated the agreement, although he may have helped make a case on behalf of hawks in the U.S. administration who want to scrap it.
Most of the purported evidence Netanyahu unveiled dated to the period before the 2015 accord was signed, although he said Iran had also kept important files on nuclear technology since then, and continued adding to its ‘nuclear weapons knowledge’.
Tehran dismissed Netanyahu as ‘the boy who cried wolf’, and called his presentation propaganda.
President Donald Trump has threatened to pull the United States out of the international deal unless it is renegotiated by May 12. After Netanyahu spoke, Trump repeated his criticism of the deal, suggesting he backed the Israeli leader’s remarks.
‘Iran’s leaders repeatedly deny ever pursuing nuclear weapons,’ Netanyahu said at Israel’s Defence Ministry, standing in front of stacks of files representing what he described as a vault full of Iranian nuclear documents obtained weeks before.
‘Tonight I’m here to tell you one thing: Iran lied.’
‘Iran lied about never having a nuclear weapons programme,’ he said. ‘One hundred thousand secret files prove it did. Second, even after the deal, Iran continued to preserve and expand its nuclear weapons knowledge for future use.’
Although the presentation was live on Israeli television, Netanyahu made clear that his audience was abroad: he delivered most of his speech in English, before switching to Hebrew.
Netanyahu said he had shared the intelligence with the United States and would dispatch envoys to France and Germany to present it. He also spoke by phone to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Tehran has denied ever seeking nuclear weapons and accuses its arch-foe Israel of stirring up world suspicions against it.
A senior U.S. official said Netanyahu gave new US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a heads-up about the presentation he would give while on a visit to Tel Aviv at the weekend.
‘We were made aware of his plans,’ the official said.
Under the 2015 nuclear deal struck by Iran and six major powers – Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States – Tehran agreed to limit its nuclear program in return for relief from the U.S. and other economic sanctions.
Trump gave Britain, France and Germany a May 12 deadline to fix what he views as the deal’s flaws – its failure to address Iran’s ballistic missile program, the terms by which inspectors visit suspect Iranian sites, and ‘sunset’ clauses under which some of its terms expire – or he will re-impose U.S. sanctions.
Much of what Netanyahu presented is unlikely to surprise world powers, which have long concluded that Iran was pursuing atomic weapons before the agreement was signed in 2015: that is in part why they imposed sanctions in the first place.
The French ambassador to Washington, Gerard Araud, tweeted that information about past Iranian nuclear activity was, in fact, an argument in favour of the nuclear deal, not against it.
A German government spokesman said it was vital to keep the independent inspections provided for under the deal.
Washington’s European allies say Tehran has generally abided by the terms of the deal since then, and have urged Trump not to scrap it. Some independent analysts and diplomats said Netanyahu appeared to be presenting old evidence.
Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is keen to develop ties with the rest of the world, which is ‘not merely’ the United States and…Eran Etzion, a former deputy Israeli national security adviser who now heads the Israeli-European think-tank Forum of Strategic Dialogue, said on Twitter: ‘No ‘smoking gun’ was revealed this evening, nor was it proven that Iran is today developing nuclear weaponry or violating the (nuclear deal) in any other way.’
A senior European diplomat told Reuters: ‘We knew all of this and what especially stands out is that Netanyahu doesn’t speak of any recorded violations’ of the deal itself.
Speaking after Netanyahu’s presentation, Trump told a White House news conference the nuclear deal was ‘a horrible agreement for the United States’. He said it would let Tehran develop nuclear arms after seven years and had ‘proven right what Israel has done today’ with Netanyahu’s disclosures.
However, Washington itself has concluded that Iran has not violated the deal’s terms. Two U.S. intelligence officials who have monitored Iran’s nuclear weapons program for years said nothing in Netanyahu’s remarks appeared to contradict that view.
‘We have seen no new and credible evidence that Iran is violating the agreement, whether in the Prime Minister’s remarks today or from other sources,’ said one of the officials, both of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Moments before Netanyahu spoke Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted: ‘The boy who can’t stop crying wolf is at it again’.
Abbas Araqchi, a senior Iranian foreign ministry official, was quoted by Iran’s Tasnim news agency as calling Netanyahu’s presentation ‘a childish and ridiculous game’ with the goal of influencing Trump’s decision ahead of the May 12 deadline.
Israel is widely believed to be the only nuclear-armed state in the Middle East, though it neither confirms nor denies possessing atomic weapons. (Daily Mail)
Palestine will continue to seek a full membership in the UN in spite of the U.S. veto which seems even more inevitable under the current administration, Nabil Shaath, the foreign affairs adviser of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said.
He told Sputnik: “I have just arrived from Japan. The Japanese membership was vetoed five times at the Security Council, mostly by the Soviet Union at the time.
“Today the only user of the veto is the U. S. And they have no right to veto our full membership.
“Now that the General Assembly has accepted with a major majority that we are a state and we have the right to membership.
“The General Assembly cannot award us full membership … We will keep trying and let the U.S. veto it two-three more times.
“Maybe the world will get tired of Americans vetoing our membership,” Shaath said.
In 2012, the UN granted Palestine a non-member observer state status within the UN General Assembly.
Over the decades, Palestinians have been seeking diplomatic recognition for their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which is partially occupied by Israel, and the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli government refuses to recognize Palestine as an independent political and diplomatic entity and continues to build settlements in occupied areas, in spite of objections from the UN.
The State of Palestine is recognided by most states outside of Europe and North America, totaling over 190 countries.
He said Palestine will continue its contacts with the U. S., but rules out a political dialogue after Washington recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Shaath said: “so far there is really very little contact. After all we have a mission in Washington which the Americans threatened to close but did not close.
“So it is still operative. The Consul of America in Jerusalem has really one duty – to represent America with the Palestinians because the relationship between the America and Israel is conducted by the Embassy in Tel Aviv.”
Shaath said that the Palestinian side ruled out any political dialogue with the U.S.
“There is no political dialogue. There are matters that continue to work – visas, and trade, and many aspects did not stop.
“We did not cut our relationship with the U.S. But there is no political dialogue.
“We reject completely and totally the Trump’s statements about Jerusalem and the Trump’s attempt to eliminate Jerusalem and the refugees from the negotiation table, and the Trump’s attempts to cut down the aid to the UN organisation that deals with the Palestinian refugees.
“We are against all of that,” Shaath explained.
On December 6, 2017, President Donald Trump announced his decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the U.S. State Department to launch the process of moving the U.S. Embassy, currently located in Tel Aviv, to Jerusalem.
The step has prompted criticism from a number of states, first and foremost those in the Middle East and Palestine, and triggered a wave of protests in the region. (The Sun)
Today Dr. Duke talked to the British author Andy Hitchcock about Jewish racism as reflected in both their ancient religious texts and in their modern policies. Dr. Duke first addressed the issue of the General Flynn controversy, with the latest revelation that Jewish First Son-In-Law Jared Kushner pushed Flynn to talk to the Russian Ambassador on behalf of Israeli foreign policy interests. Nothing to see here, goyim!
Dr. Slattery joined the show and commented that Flynn’s meeting with the Russian Ambassador was necessary to prevent a dangerous escalation of tensions due to the belligerent sanctions imposed on Russia by the Obama administration post-election over the kooky Russian hacking hoax. He said it was no surprise that Flynn would lobby Russia on behalf of Israel as Trump all along was trying to tow a pro-Israel line in order to prevent an all-out assault on him by Jews, most of whom actually care more about destroying white America with third world immigration than protecting Israel from toothless UN resolutions.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina in a statement did not disclose the purpose of Buhari’s visit to London nor when he will return.
Adesina in the statement said: “President Buhari will transit through London on his way back to the country.”
Buhari returned to the country August 19th after spending over 100 days in London on medical vacation.

“The Nigerian delegation will also canvass the support of UN member states for the Buhari Administration’s efforts towards combatting illicit financial flows in order to foster sustainable development.” (The Sun)
A United Nations delegation are set to storm Nigeria for talks with the FG following the intensified agitation for the sovereign State of Biafra spearheaded by Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB, a UN correspondent reveals.
The correspondent who disclosed this said that “The 8 man delegates are compiling documents to present to Nigeria government to organise a referendum for the masses to decide for themselves if they still want to continue to co-exist in Nigeria”.
Recall that the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in their recent report Accused Northern Leaders of Endorsing Genocide Against Igbos, this was contained in a letter drafted to UN general secretary by the committee at the end of their 93rd session between July 31 and August 25, 2017.
The UN body ordered Nigeria “to exercise due diligence to halt, prevent and investigate acts of racist hate speech and incitement to hatred and violence against the Igbo people, in accordance with international human rights standards, with a view to bringing perpetrators to justice, punishing them adequately if convicted, and compensating victims.”
According to a source close to one of the cabals controlling Nigeria, Aso Rock has been panicking since they got the information and are trying very hard to monopolize the UN body and quench their move to conduct a referendum.
Following the UN experts’ report, the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination held its 93rd session between July 31 and August 25, 2017. Acting under its “Early Warning and Urgent Action Procedure,” the Committee said it was deeply concerned “by the rise of racist hate speech and incitement to violence against the Igbo people, including through the recording and wide distribution of a song and audio message in Hausa language which describe the Igbos in hateful and derogatory terms.” It added that the Committee was “Alarmed by the public ultimatum issued by a number of northern youth groups, forums, and coalitions on 6 June 2017 calling all Igbos in northern Nigeria to leave their homes by 1 October 2017,” noting that the ultimatum “may have been recently withdrawn.”
The Committee decried “reports that other local elders and leaders have endorsed the ultimatum and expressed their support for such racist hate speech targeting and threatening the Igbos,” adding that it was “deeply worried by the information that some Igbo families have already started moving out from their villages and homes in northern Nigeria to avoid any possible harm to their personal integrity.”
The UN body drew attention to Nigeria’s membership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and of the African Union as well as a State party to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. It stated that Nigeria must “increase its efforts in systematically rejecting and condemning, including by high-level and local public officials and leaders, any form of racist hate speech, incitement to hatred and violence, and the dissemination of ideas of ethnic superiority.”
The UN body recommended that Nigeria “take immediate action to stop and prevent the continued circulation and dissemination of the hateful song and audio message mentioned above,” and “to exercise due diligence to halt, prevent and investigate acts of racist hate speech and incitement to hatred and violence against the Igbo people, in accordance with international human rights standards, with a view to bringing perpetrators to justice, punishing them adequately if convicted, and compensating victims.”
The UN Committee urged Nigeria to “ensure the protection of all its citizens from ethnic hatred, and take effective measures to ensure that Igbo people can fully exercise their rights stipulated in the Convention, including the right to security of person and protection against violence or bodily harm, the right to freedom of movement and residence, and the right to own property.”
It finally called on “all local and national authorities in Nigeria to promptly and firmly address the underlying causes of the ethnic tensions in Nigeria, with a view to avoiding repeated ethnic-based violence, and to promote intercultural dialogue between different ethnic groups based on diversity, respect, and inclusiveness.”
According to the Committee, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights had been mandated “to draw the attention of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union to the human rights situation of the Igbo in northern Nigeria.”
The Ohanaeze Youth Council, Worldwide, OYC, has petitioned the United Nations, UN, asking that Ndi Igbo in the North be granted special protection following the quit notice issued to them by a coalition of northern youths.
The council which is the youth wing of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation also, demanded that the United Nations begins preparation to conduct a referendum in Igbo land to finally determine the fate of their people.
This is following the letter written by the Arewa Youths to the Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in which they bashed Ndigbo over the continuous agitation for Biafra.
Recall the Arewa youths in the letter accused Ndi Igbo of instigating various crisis in the country, including the first military coup as well as the civil war.
But in the letter to the UN by the OYC, said it was a high time a referendum was conducted to pave way for the final end to the “unworkable marriage” called Nigeria.
The letter signed by the group’s national president, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike (National Secretary) Amb Arthur Obiora (Dep National President) Engr Obinna Adobe (National Publicity Secretary) was copied to the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the United States Embassy in Nigeria, the UK Embassy, the Commonwealth, the Amnesty International, among others.
The letter was entitled: “A CALL FOR EMERGENCY IN NIGERIA- OUR TWO-POINT DEMAND.”
It reads in parts: “It is with great concern that we alert the international community of the looming genocide against the Igbos in the Northern part of Nigeria, occasioned by a well-orchestrated, carefully thought-after plot by the Northern hierarchy, who are hiding under the Arewa Youths.
“Their latest ranting, which they packaged a letter to the Acting President has left no one in doubt as to their motive: A GRAND DESIGN TO ANNIHILATE THE IGBO RACE. This, they want to achieve so easily through the well packaged false history, which they have now dished out to gullible minds in order to create a passionate hatred for the Igbos in the minds of their people and thereby easily achieve the October 1 planned mayhem against our people.
“How else could one justify their attempt to stab history in the back by labelling the first military coup in Nigeria as an Igbo coup? How else could people twist history than their justifying the pogrom against the Igbos between 1966 and 1967, which eventually led to the civil war? In what measure can one justify the insult on our late leaders, in the persons of Late Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi and Late Col. Chukwuemeka Odumewgu Ojukwu?
“In Igbo land, we have respect not only for the elders but more so for the dead and it if is for that purpose that we chose not to go further into this matter. Truth cannot never be changed. However, we must let these youths and their paymasters know that contrary to their claims, our people have made much more sacrifices for the unity of this country, starting from the later Owelle of Onitsha, Nnamdi Azikiwe.
“To also justify their planned killing of every Igbo man remaining with the Biafra agitation amounts to the hypocrisy of the highest magnitude. May we remind them for over a decade now, the Boko Haram did not just declare war on the Nigerian State but has gone ahead to seize territories, killed thousands of thousand and rendered millions homeless, yet nobody has branded it an action signed by the entire North. Besides, like the Arewa Youths pointed out in their hypocritical letter, the Biafra agitators have their demand for self-determination found in so many characters, including that of the UN, for which Nigeria is a signatory to. Where does the Boko Haram derive its own right to be engaging in mass murder?
“Our point here, however, is not on the propriety or otherwise of the attempt by Boko Haram to take over every Nigerian Nigeria territory or the Biafra agitation, but the difficult attempt by the Arewa Youths to link every Igbo man with the activities of the IPOB. If it is so, suffice it to say that all of them are members of the Boko Haram sect.
“May we also state that contrary to their claims that Ndigbo were being accommodated in every part of the country, our people have continued to be slaughtered like chickens, especially in the North, without justifiable reason. The case of Mrs Bridget Agbahime, a pastor’s wife, who was murdered in cold blood will speak against these youths. The manner her case was muzzled by the Kano State Government will make her blood to cry forever against her shameless murderers.
“We, therefore, alert your attention to another impending massacre of the Igbos, especially with the thick rumour of arms being stockpiled in the North in readiness for action. It is even more painful considering undenied claims that some security personnel were aiding the smuggling of these sophisticated arms through the porous land borders in the North.
“Suffice it to say, Sir, that the life of our people is now at a great risker. It does appear that the pogrom of the 60s is here to repeat itself again. There are indications that they are only waiting for the whistle to be blown for them to unleash another round of terror on our people.
“Giving the above, we urge the United Nations to beam its satellite on the Northern Nigeria ahead of any eventuality that may befall our people. Considering the manner the security agencies have handled these endless threats, it is unlikely that they may protect our people when these marauders will strike.
“Secondly and very important too, having seen that Igbos have remained the victims of this marriage called Nigeria, despite our sacrifices, we demand that the on-going constitutional amendment will not be acceptable should it not make provision for a referendum. It is high time people are given freedom to decide whether they want to remain in a country where they are not loved, not wanted but hated with a passion.
“The National Assembly should make no mistake of undertaking any further constitutional amendment without an option for a referendum, this is the only way to go and we urge the United Nations to mount all necessary international pressures on Nigeria to effect that very much needed amendment.”
The Nigeria’s Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the UN Office and Other International Organisations (UNOG) Amb. Audu Kadiri, in Geneva has sought the assistance of the UN towards expeditious return of the country’s stolen assets stashed abroad.
Clement Aduku, Spokesperson in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday in a statement said Kadiri, made the call when he presented his Credentials to Mr Michael Møller, the Director-General of the UNOG, in Geneva.
Kadiri, specifically called on the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres to facilitate the return of Nigeria’s stolen assets.
On the Security challenges in the Northeast occasioned by Boko Haram terrorism, Kadiri told the director-general that Nigeria has made significant progress in the decimation of the capacity of the terrorists group.
He also briefed the director-general on the recent of 83 of the Chibok girls as well as Government’s effort in addressing the emergent humanitarian situation in the North East.
Kadiri urged the UN Secretary-General to use his good offices in facilitating the delivery of the commitments undertaken at the International Donor Conference for Nigeria and the Lake Chad Region held on Feb. 24, in Oslo Norway. (Authority)
