Igboho’s Talkative Nature Gave Us Clue When To Invade His Residence —Leaked Audio Reveals |The Republican News

The supposed security agent’s voice, believed to be on the phone, also said the arrogance and ignorance that Igboho allegedly displayed were used against him.

An audio tape of an unidentified officer of the Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed that secessionist leader, Sunday Igboho’s house was raided at midnight in July because he had given the hint while speaking carelessly.

The supposed security agent’s voice, believed to be on the phone, also said the arrogance and ignorance that Igboho allegedly displayed were used against him.

This is contained in an audio tape obtained by SaharaReporters on Tuesday.

According to the tape, a close and trusted ally of Igboho who knew his shortcomings was the informant used by the DSS operatives who raided his house in Ibadan.

The DSS operatives invaded and raided Igboho’s house in Soka, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in July, killing two people and arresting some others.

Igboho became a target for President Muhammadu Buhari’s government when he gave Fulani herdsmen an ultimatum to leave Igangan area in Oyo State, and later in the South West generally.

According to him, the herdsmen were responsible for the killings, kidnappings and rape cases happening in the region.

He stepped up his campaign by agitating for a Yoruba Nation to break away from Nigeria.

After his house was raided by the DSS and he was declared wanted, Igboho and his wife, Ropo were arrested by Beninese security agents at a Cotonou airport, Benin Republic while trying to travel to Germany. He has since been detained in a Beninese prison.

However, in the viral audio tape, the male voice said Igboho’s unguarded talks got from his close ally helped the DSS to attack his residence.

The tape was recorded in Yoruba language with some use of English language.

“If you used to follow the things he said, he asked us to come at midnight. He didn’t know that God has also empowered the government.

“He boasted that if we came to his house with 1,000 personnel, hardly would we see 100 that would return. But, he said we shouldn’t come at midnight, and that was why we decided to invade at midnight.

“You know, God likes Igboho, his weakness is that he talks too much. And it is through words that powerful people are caught and ensnared.

“A Yoruba adage says ‘a talkative talks but with no sense’. The man called Igboho talks too much. He has a good plan and ambition, but he talks carelessly. And, his careless talk has ruined his ambition. That was why he fell victim,” the voice said.

He further said, “Another thing is that his ignorance and arrogance ruined him.”. (Sahara Reporters)

BREAKING: Nigeria’s Attorney-General Malami, DSS Again Lose Against Igboho In Court |RN

Sunday Igboho and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami

The court had also restrained the government from freezing the bank account of Igboho.

The Nigerian government, Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday lost another application seeking vacation of order by the Oyo State High Court retraining the government from arresting, intimidating, harassing Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho.

The court had also restrained the government from freezing the bank account of Igboho.

Justice Ladiran Akintola said the application by the AGF is against fair hearing and the fundamental human rights of the applicant because it has to do with his free movement.

Counsel for the AGF, Enock Simeon had earlier appealed to the court to vacate its earlier judgement restraining Nigerian government from freezing Igboho’s account and arresting his allies.

Simeon argued that such a judgement is interim and could only stay for seven days.

SaharaReporters had reported that Justice Akintola on August 4 granted an order of interim injunction restraining the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies from arresting, detaining, molesting or killing the Yoruba Nation activist, Igboho.

But objecting to the argument, counsel for Igboho, Chief Yomi Aliyu (SAN) said he had filed for extension of the order on the 26th of August, therefore, the new application should not be granted.

Counsel for the AGF, thereby, sought another adjournment for him to reply to the application as the time frame of seven days had not elapsed.

On his part, the counsel for the DSS, T. Nurudeen said he had not been served with the new processes, urging the court to give a fair hearing to the parties by adjourning the case for hearing.

Justice Akintola refused to grant the application and therefore adjourned the case till September 7 for hearing.

The initial motion developed from the originating motion seeking N500 billion damages for invasion of his house in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on July 1.

Aliu had expressed confidence the AGF Malami would not disobey the court order, saying the order was given directly against his office. (Sahara Reporters)

We Never Attempted To Arrest Sunday Igboho —DSS | The Republican News

Department of State Services

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that its officers attempted to arrest Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in Oyo State.

The agency’s Public Relations Officer, National Headquarters, Abuja, Dr Peter Afunanya, in a statement described the reports as fake.

A statement by Afunanya said, “The Department of State Services wishes to refute the news that it attempted to arrest one Sunday Igboho, today, at Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The said news is misinforming and should be taken as fake and therefore be disregarded.”

Earlier on Friday, a team reportedly comprising policemen, soldiers and Department of State Services officers on Friday attempted to arrest Igboho on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

SaharaReporters learnt the security operatives, however, failed in their violent attempt to arrest him.

In an interview with SaharaReporters, Igboho’s media aide, Salami Oladapo, said the attempt was made at exactly 2 pm in front of a Satguru Maharaj Ji Village, along the busy highway.

Oladapo, who spoke for Igboho, said, “They laid in ambush for me and blocked his car with two vehicles. They were heavily armed but he said they were too small for him to arrest.

“He has described the situation as worrying and sad, especially because he is fighting for Yoruba people and not a criminal. It happened at exactly 2 pm, right in front of Satguru Maharaj Ji Village along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”

Fulani Herdsmen: Sunday Igboho Bank Account Frozen, He Threatens To Lead Massive Protest |The Republican News

Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemo with his supporters

By Femi Ajasa

Self-acclaimed freedom fighter, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, on Tuesday, accused the Federal Government of freezing his bank accounts, following his attack on the killer-herdsmen in Oyo State.

Igboho, who spoke to newsmen, confirmed that all his bank accounts have been frozen by the Federal Government because some people were collecting donations.

However, Igboho said he had no hands in the said donations, warning that his accounts must be unfrozen to avoid nationwide protest by youths across the South-West region.

His words: “They have frozen my bank accounts because I am fighting a just course. I know Yoruba people are behind me.

“I will not relent. I must achieve my aims by putting an end to criminalities in Yorubaland.

“If they refuse to release my accounts, there will be serious protests across the South-West.

“Yes, the Yoruba are living in fear. They are afraid that the killer-herdsmen might attack them.”

IGP Adamu Has Ordered Arrest Of Sunday Igboho —Presidency |The Republican News

Sunday Igboho
Sunday Igboho at Igangan, Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday

By Eniola Akinkuotu and John Alechenu, Abuja

The Presidency says the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, for giving Fulani in Oyo State an ultimatum to exit the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, was quoted as saying this during an interview with BBC Hausa.

According to the BBC report, Shehu said he had just got off the phone with the IGP who told him that an order had been given to the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho immediately and transfer him to Abuja.

Part of the report read, “Garba said he just got off the telephone with the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police, who confirmed to him that he had ordered the arrest of Igboho, who is to be brought to Abuja.

“Igboho is among topics that have generated public discuss on social media in Nigeria on Friday since he visited Igangan in Ibarapa Local Government (of Oyo State) where he insisted that all Fulani residents in Oyo State, must leave as long as kidnapping continues.

“Mallam Garba Shehu said government was having a hard time punishing (such) offenders because of the activities of human rights organisations.

“Garba Shehu said the order given by the Inspector General of Police, for now, is that Igboho should be arrested and brought to Abuja to be taken to court to face prosecution.”

Igboho, who is the Akoni Oodua of Yoruba land and a grassroots politician, had asked herdsmen in Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State to leave within seven days, blaming the leadership of the Fulani of being behind the rising insecurity in the state.

Last week, the Presidency had criticised Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State for asking Fulani herders to vacate forest reserves because the place was being used by bandits and kidnappers.

The PUNCH had reported that violence erupted in Igangan in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday when  Sunday Igboho and his supporters reportedly stormed the Fulani settlement in the town to eject the Seriki Fulani, Salihu Abdukadir, and some other herdsmen accused of fuelling security problems in the area.

Unconfirmed reports claimed that some persons were killed while properties worth several millions of naira were set ablaze during the clash which occurred in the evening.

Although Igboho could not be reached as calls to his telephone line indicated that he was out of reach, residents of Igangan however said that at least one youth from Igboora was killed by Fulani fighters while two others sustained injuries from gunshots.

The Seriki also told our correspondent that one Fulani woman was killed. He said he had fled the town before Igboho returned on Friday.

The claims from both sides could not be independently verified as of press time on Friday.

Igboho had last week issued a seven-day quit notice to the Seriki and his associates.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had in a broadcast warned people fuelling ethic crisis in the state to desist from such act.

Despite this, Igboho and his supporters stormed Igangan on Friday afternoon.

Addressing the youths, Igboho said, “They started deploying soldiers here since yesterday (Thursday). When our people were being kidnapped and killed, there was no soldier to be deployed to secure them.

Reacting, the Oyo State PPRO, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, said, “Tactical police teams with Operation Burst are on ground to give maximum security protection while efforts are on to ascertain the situation there.”

Makinde vows to resist ethnic crisis

Meanwhile, Makinde said on Friday that his government would not allow anyone hiding under the guise of ethnic interest to perpetrate a crisis in the state.

Makinde said the war to be waged by the state and the security agencies was against criminal elements, irrespective of their tribes, religions or creed.

He added that his administration would not allow anyone to threaten the peace of the state by acting unlawfully as such was against the nation’s Constitution.

The governor, who spoke while receiving the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko, said the state government would not relent in placing priority on the welfare of security agencies in the state.

The governor said, “For people stoking ethnic tension, they are criminals and once you get them, they should be arrested and treated like common criminals. For this administration, the major pillar for us is security, because we know that all the good economic plans we have won’t be possible in an atmosphere of chaos and insecurity.”

“So, when people say things that are neither lawful nor within the spirit of Nigeria’s Constitution, it is not acceptable here. And they cannot hide under the guise of protecting Yoruba interest to perpetuate chaos in the state.”

Nnamdi Kanu Warns New Oyo State CP Ngozi Onadeko Not To Be Used, Ask Her To Resign |The Republican News

Commissioner of Police Oyo state, CP Ngozi Onadeko

You are an Igbo woman so I expect you to be reasonable enough to know that Fulani IGP posted you to Oyo to superintend the arrest or possible killing of Yoruba youths in order to ferment enmity between the East and the West at this critical juncture in the history of the liberation of all indigenous peoples across Nigeria, including you and your family.

I will advice you to resign honourably from your position as a certain Yoruba CP did in Abia State when he declined to order men under his command to open fire on IPOB protesters.

I am warning you not to do anything likely to jeopardise the safety or well-being of Sunday Ighoho otherwise you and your family will have the might of IPOB to contend with. The silly game you people always play in that Zoo will no longer wash with us. Suddenly Fulani have realised that appointing an Igbo woman as Police Commissioner is a good thing because they want to use you. Nothing should happen to Ighoho.

Thank you
