Video: Bishop Mike Okonkwo Makes Shocking Confession About His Teaching On Tithing

Bishop-Mike-Okonkwo

Former president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and founder of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission TREM church, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, recently admitted he had been wrongfully teaching his members on the very controversial topic, Tithing.

In a video making the rounds on social media, Bishop Mike Okonkwo admitted he had in the time past preached frightening messages to his congregation just to get them to pay their tithes. He admitted that pastors conjure all kinds of things just to get their members to give the tithe.

”If you don’t tithe, things will be tight for you” he listed this and some others as the erroneous words clergymen say to get their members frightened to give their tithe.

He went on to add that Christians are to give to God willingly and not be cajoled or forced to give. Watch the video below

Toilet Found In 3,000-year-old Shrine Verifies Bible Stories Against Idol Worship

Archaeologists have discovered a symbolic toilet from the eighth century B.C. in Jerusalem that could be a clue to religious reforms in the Kingdom of Judah. Religious reforms, in this case, is a euphemism for quite literally defecating on the holy places one wishes to drive out of business.

The stone toilet sits in Tel Lachish, a sprawling Iron Age city and the Kingdom of Judah’s most important one after the capitol, Jerusalem. It was found in what the archaeologists believe to be a gate-shrine within Israel’s largest ancient city gate. The ruler at that time, King Hezekiah, enacted campaigns of religious worship and reform that made their way into the Hebrew Bible on multiple occasions.

In one corner of the shrine sits a stone seat with a hole in the center. The archaeologists believe that not only is it definitely a toilet, it’s a toilet that was installed for the express purpose of literally desecrating the shrine. Hezekiah, it seems, was just following instructions against idol worship in the scriptures:

“Then they demolished the pillar of Baal, and destroyed the temple of Baal, and made it a latrine to this day” (2 Kings 10:27).

Sa’ar Ganor and Igor Kreimerman, the archaeologists who conducted the excavations on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), described their work in the article “Going to the Bathroom at Lachish” in the November/December 2017 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review.

“The cult worship was eradicated, here’s the evidence, smashing the altar horns. But not only was it annulled, in Lachish they put in a throne, the same stone you see here,” Ganor told Times of Israel while pointing to the stone toilet.

Discovered on-site at the gate complex, which measures 80 square feet, were storage jars belonging to Hezekiah that could be indicative of his preparations for siege by Assyrian rivals. Tel Lachish was ultimately destroyed in 701 B.C.

Alters within the shrine had been deliberately desecrated. The archaeologists believe the damage lines up with the Biblical references to Hezekiah’s campaigns to concentrate all religious worship (only of Yahweh) in Jerusalem and outlaw it everywhere else, Lachish included.

Hezekiah’s behavior basically stemmed from his belief that his ancestors hadn’t worshipped piously enough by turning to other gods, a lapse he apparently intended to remedy by both literally and figuratively defecating on holy places set up to worship those gods.

According to Biblical Archaeology, Hezekiah’s religious cleansing campaign is discussed in multiple verses including 2 Kings 18:4, which reads that he “removed the high places (bamot), broke down the pillars (masseboth), and cut down the sacred pole (asherah).” (Newsweek)

Bible: Explorers Claim They’ve Discovered Noah’s Ark From Book Of Genesis

A general view of the area, which has allegedly trace of Noahs Ark on Mount Ararat© Getty A general view of the area, which has allegedly trace of Noahs Ark on Mount Ararat

More than 100 international researchers recently convened for a three-day symposium to discuss new evidence that the Biblical ark from the Book of Genesis made landfall at Mount Ararat in Turkey, according to the Nation. One “ark hunter” in particular believe he’s found the ark’s final resting place.

“The result of my findings will be published in books, publications and journals, but at this point it is too early to know what we are going to find,” Raul Esperante of the Geoscience Research Institute said, according to the Nation. “Once the scientific community knows about the existence of Noah’s Ark in Mount Ararat, we can make it available to the general public.”

In 2010, evangelical Chinese and Turkish researchers claimed to have found wooden remnants from an “ark-like” structure around 13,000 feet up Agri Mountain, the highest peak in Turkey, according to the Nation.

They said that carbon dating had revealed the wood to be around 4,800 years old, which conceivably places it in the same historical period as when the flood was said to have occurred. Esperante asked for funds to be able to continue that work, according to the Nation.

The Book of Genesis records that the ark came to rest in the mountains of Ararat, which corresponds to Agri, after riding out the Great Flood for 150 days.

“There have been, from the 19th century through the present, many claims that Noah’s Ark has been discovered around Mount Ararat,” Brent Landau, a biblical scholar at the University of Texas at Austin who was not affiliated with the recent work, told Newsweek over email.

“But these claims have almost always been made by biblical literalists, who believe that the Bible is 100 percent true, so they are certainly not conducting their investigations from a neutral scientific perspective.”

The Geoscience Research Institute isn’t an impartial entity; it’s sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Esperante hadn’t responded to a request for comment as of press time.

The existence of the Great Flood itself is highly contested for obvious reasons, but there’s evidence accepted by both religious and secular scientists (including Landau) that such an event could have occurred, even if the timeline differs a bit from what appears in the Book of Genesis. Still, a great many people who go searching for the ark itself seem to find it, and the evidence doesn’t usually get much traction.

The 2010 discovery was widely debunked as a hoax, according to outlets like NBC. At the time, the Christian Science Monitor also quoted an evangelical scientist (and former member of the research group behind the alleged discovery) as saying he had believed “proper analysis may show this to be a hoax.” Still, Esperante and many like him think otherwise.

“All of the previous claims that Noah’s Ark has been discovered have turned out to be outright hoaxes—with wooden beams or other artifacts planted there by the discoverers themselves—or natural rock formations that look somewhat like a giant boat,” Landau wrote to Newsweek. “I am quite confident that this present claim will turn out to be more of the same.”       (Newsweek)

Tithe: Nigerian GO, Ufuoma Apologises To Congregation For Collecting Tithe Over The Years

By Ike A. Offor

Bernard-Ufuoma

The general overseer of the Godist Church, Port Harcourt, Pastor Bernard Ufuoma has come out openly to acknowledge that collection of tithe from his congregants is indeed against the scripture, as he put it in his Facebook wall write-up.

The writer has known Bernard for some years and could attest that he is a very passionate preacher and founder of Godist Church.

Pastor Ufuoma has written and spoken out vigorously against the politics in Pentecostal church establishment, where politics takes the front seat when it comes to change of guard or general overseer, when or if the old one steps down or passes on.

He has as well spoken out about the demise of the founder of Olumba Olumba Obu, who claimed that he was God and will never age or die, but according to him, Obu grew old and died and his burial was shrouded in secrecy. He said “the handsome first son of the founder Roland Obu and his  sister Ebum Obu are now fighting for the control or leadership of the Olumba Olumba Obu, OOO.

In his passionate and open apology to his followers, Pastor Bernard Ufuoma declared that Daddy Freeze has opened his eyes and he will henceforth not receive tithe in his church.

Here is his apology on his Facebook wall:

I repent for collecting tithes. As the GO of the Godist Church I declare tithing is unscriptural and unscrupulous and our ministry will no longer receive tithes. Daddy Freeze opened my eyes. I used to scare my members with Malachi 3:8 and honestly it invokes fear in them and they comply. Am so sorry for the manipulations.

-Bernard Ufuoma
(GO Godist Church PH)

He said that tithing is unscriptural and unscrupulous and his ministry will no longer receive tithe. He cited how the Holy book Malachi 3:8 is potently used to instil fear on congregants to psychologically cause them to give tithe.

Pastor Ufuoma apology on The Republican News Facebook page received some strong criticism from readers, and one of them was very harsh.

Mr Emman Arkney, had this to say to Pastor Bernard Ufuoma: “To Bernard Ufuoma, General Overseer. Godist Church, PH

Pls go and re-examine your calling as a pastor. From every indication, you are not a pastor. You do not have testimony of Christ as your Redeemer and Savior. You are a fraud. You must repent and be truly born again.

If in all your years of pastoring till you became a founder and general overseer of a church, you never had a right perspective of tithing, your ministry has more questions than answers. You do not have any moral justification to mount any alter of God to preach.

If you’re now convinced by a mere radio broadcaster that tithing is unscriptural, then you have a lot of restitution to make… return all the tithes you collected to their payers. In addition, you should return the tithes with 5%. It’s only then you can free yourself from guilt. If you fail to do so, anybody who sits under your ministration is under curse.”

Daddy Freeze seemed to have unleashed some barrage of ammunitions that could revolutionise the tithe-collecting churches.

According to amonpointtv, “Bushiri had, in the past, showed off his private jet, a fleet of cars and lavish lifestyle even as some of his church members wallow in abject poverty.”

“This time around, he has introduced customised Automated Teller Machine cards with his face, for members to pay tithe money into his account,” the online television outfit claims.

A Facebook user had shared the photos on social media and written: “Prophet Bushiri rolls out new ATM cards to make it easy for church followers to pay for tithes automatically every Sunday. What would Jesus say?”

Russian Ban On Jehovah’s Witnesses Comes Into Force |The Republican News

Jehovah's-Witnesses

Russia’s justice ministry said Thursday that it has added Jehovah’s Witnesses to its black list, formalising a ban for the Christian movement over alleged “extremist activities.”

In a statement, the ministry said that the decision “had entered legal force” to ban the activities of the central organisation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia and also all 395 local offices.

The evangelical movement also appeared in the ministry’s online register of banned organisations.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses have fought a long legal battle against the ban, culminating in a Russian Supreme Court ruling in July to reject an appeal.

In April, the Supreme Court issued a ruling banning the Christian group and seizing its property.

That decision came after the justice ministry said it had found signs of “extremist activity” within the religious movement and requested that it be banned.

Members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses — a Christian evangelical movement that was born in the United States in the 19th century — consider modern churches to have deviated from the Bible’s true teachings. They reject modern evolutionary theory and refuse blood transfusions.

Washington last month called the ruling against the group “the latest in a disturbing trend of persecution of religious minorities in Russia.”

There are more than eight million Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide, with some countries classifying the group as a sect.

Its members are known for preaching on doorsteps, where they offer religious literature and attempt to convert people.

In 2004 Russia dissolved the Moscow branch of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The European Court of Human Rights ruled in 2010 that the move had violated the right to freedom of religion and association.

Gilbert Deya,’Miracle Babies’ Pastor Extradicted To Kenya To Face Charges |RN

gilbert-deya

Pastor Gilbert Deya

The UK has extradited a self-styled Kenyan pastor, who claimed he created miraculous pregnancies, to Kenya to face child-trafficking charges. Gilbert Deya’s extradition came after he failed in his decade-long legal battle to remain in the UK.

He denied charges of stealing five children between 1999 and 2004 when he appeared in court in Nairobi.Concerns were first raised about the conduct of Mr Deya, who ran a church in London, in a BBC investigation in 2004. Infertile or post-menopausal women who attended the Gilbert Deya Ministries church in Peckham, south-east London, were told they could have “miracle” babies. But the babies were always “delivered” in backstreet clinics in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.

Mr Deya later moved to Scotland, and was arrested in Edinburgh in 2006 under an international arrest warrant issued by Kenya. His Gilbert Deya Ministries is being investigated by the UK Charity Commission for alleged mismanagement. “Our statutory inquiry into Gilbert Deya Ministries is ongoing. We are currently considering the implication of Gilbert Deya’s extradition on our investigation,” the commission said in a statement.

A former stonemason who moved to London from Kenya in the mid-90sSet up the Gilbert Deya Ministries as a registered charity, with African and Asian branchesKnown for his blend of charismatic, performance-style preachingHad income of £652,800 ($858,000) for the financial year ending December 2015.

Spent £609,300 Described by UK Labour MP David Lammy as a “modern-day snake-oil salesman” Says he was consecrated as an Archbishop by a US evangelist in 1992.

When the BBC asked Mr Deya during its 2014 investigation how he explained the births of children with DNA different to that of their alleged parents, the 65-year-old Mr Deya said: “The miracle babies which are happening in our ministry are beyond human imagination.”

It is not something I can say I can explain because they are of God and things of God cannot be explained by a human being.”Kenya’s police spokesman Charles Owino told the BBC that Mr Deya had arrived in Nairobi aboard a Kenya Airways flight following his extradition. Mr Deya had opposed his extradition, saying he feared being tortured and sentenced to death.

In 2007, his wife, Mary, was sentenced to two years in prison in Kenya after being convicted of stealing a baby. In 2011, she was sentenced to three years in jail after being convicted of stealing another child.

Desperate women, some past the menopause and others who were infertile, were convinced that being prayed for by Mr Deya and travelling to Kenya would result in a child. Once there, they were convinced by Mrs Deya and others that they were experiencing labour and taken to illegal clinics where they believed they had given birth. But they were actually given babies which had been taken from local women.

Outrage As Pastor Asks Women To Pick Husbands During Church Service |RN

Image result for Pastor asks women to pic husband in church
                      Pastor Fufeyin in church

Eric Dumo

A clergyman in Delta State, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, of the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, on Friday, incurred the wrath of many Nigerians after a video of him asking a woman to move around the auditorium and pick a man as a husband during service emerged online.

In the about 9.42-minute-long clip, Fufeyin was seen ordering the woman to come towards where he stood at the front before asking after her husband.

When the woman responded that she was yet to marry, the pastor giggled before asking her when she wished to marry.

Immediately the woman answered that she would wish to be married on that very day, Fufeyin asked her to quickly go round the auditorium to pick a husband.

The light-complexioned lady sporting a blue native attire, moved round different sections of the packed auditorium while the pastor followed closely behind.

After insisting that she had not found a man of her choice to take as a husband, the prophet then asked men interested in taking her as wife to file out.

About eight men came out but the woman told the clergyman that she was not interested in any of them, prompting him to say that her eyes had been covered by supernatural forces.

He said, “The reason why you are just moving around without finding a man is that they put a mask to cover your face.

“In the realm of the spirit, you are just moving aimlessly. Anybody that comes your way just chop (sic) and go. No be so?

“They plaster your face not to find a husband until you grow old.”

***The clergyman thereafter asked ladies interested in marrying the eight men, who had come out for the first woman to line up behind them.

While one or two ladies queued up behind some of the men, a particular one among them had 11 women lining up behind him.

Fufeyin thereafter said he gave the men till the end of the month to screen their “wives” and pick the one person they want to marry.

He said, “Pastors, write down the husbands’ names. We cannot allow women to remain like this forever. I want to marry off these people. I give you people from now till month end to screen your wives. Nobody should go and meet them at night; if you go I’ll catch you.

“I will sponsor the marriages in this church on the same day. I give you time to check yourself.”

He then turned to the first lady and told her to go and look for her husband before laying hands on her.

The woman fell to the ground immediately his hands came upon her.

Reacting to the entire episode, readers on PUNCH’s online platform, www.punchng.com, rained hard knocks on the prophet.

A commenter, Omo9ja, said, “What these fake pastors will cause in this country, they will not be able to solve it. Stealing and lying in the name of God. They are just mocking Christianity. There is God o.”

Another commenter identified only as Nigeriamovingforward, said, “Religious enslavement has taken over Nigeria. Business/church centres.”

Admonisher, another reader, wrote, “This is so against the Biblical teachings on marriage. The church has become a business, reality shows and den of corrupt and discredited politicians.”

Emmanco, a separate reader, wrote, “I can’t believe what I just watched. How can these guys continue to take advantage of the weak and poor souls and get away with it? I am not judging but this is an abuse of power and immoral, to say the least. I think it’s high time the government set up an agency to monitor this type of abuse and fraudulent religious leaders.”

Dycc Dunukofia emmanco, wrote, “This is a show of shame… what these prophets of doom are doing now is terrible. Some pastors will tell their members to eat grasses like goat to get money… One church camera even captured holy ghost flying in the church….I wrote it in small letter oooo……ALL NA WORK.”

A commenter, Acheme David Ijegwa, said, “How lost Christians have become, unable to discern where the Spirit of God resides. Sheep that don’t know the voice of the master easily follows wolves.”

Daniel Dalton Comrade Easy wrote, “That lady is in love with the pastor – that’s why she couldn’t choose….Not to worry, he will soon divorce his wife and be her husband, it’s permitted in new generation churches.” (Punchng.com)
