New York Times, Washington Post, Other US Media Reject pro-Buhari Propaganda Sponsored By Malami |RN

At least five media organisations in the United States have rejected an attempt to plant opinion articles that sought to launder the image of President Muhammadu Buhari, according to U.S. government documents seen by Peoples Gazette.

Attorney General Abubakar Malami sponsored the botched opinion aimed at dispelling harsh criticisms of Mr Buhari’s human rights records and alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Mr Malami wrote the opinion in 2018 through Mount Olives LLC, a U.S.-based public relations firm. However, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, The Hill, and The Washington Times rejected the opinion, documents uploaded by the U.S. Department of Justice in line with the Foreign Agents Registration Act, said.

About $8,000 was paid each for the opinion. But it was unclear whether or not Mr Malami got a refund from the PR firm after the articles failed to scale through the media organisations’ rigorous editorial processes.

Mr Malami’s attempt to whitewash President Buhari’s image came amidst series of allegations of gross violation of human rights levelled against the president.

Mr Buhari has continued to show zero tolerance for freedom of speech and expression, intimidating and effecting the arrest of oppositions and activists that have been very critical of his administration, constantly kicking against demonstrations and protests against insecurity and bad governance.

Mr Buhari has also not spared media organisations regularly imposing fines and sanctions on broadcast stations. As a result, journalists under Mr Buhari’s six-year rule have continued to operate with fear in an atmosphere increasingly dangerous and toxic for media practitioners.

In January, access to the website of the online newspaper, Peoples Gazette, was outrightly and illegally restricted in what looked like a coordinated attack from the Nigerian government orchestrated by mobile telecommunication companies including MTN, Glo, and 9mobile.

The attack came after The Gazette’s October 2020 story that cast a spotlight on Bolaji Gambari as the new head of a budding cabal of administration associates inside the Presidential Villa. The newspaper also detailed the exit of Farouk Gumel, another Aso Rock policy adviser and an influential part of the cabal that held sway under Abba Kyari.

Mr Malami did not immediately return a request seeking comments about why his article was declined by the U.S. media.

The Gazette saw the documents amidst raging criticisms of the Buhari regime across the world in the wake of a Twitter ban in Nigeria.

Mr Buhari ordered Twitter banned in the country on June 4, barely a day after his tweet that appeared to threaten genocide against Igbos of Nigeria was deleted by the social media giant.

Information minister Lai Mohammed said the indefinite suspension of the microblog was on the grounds that the platform was used to spread false information and “activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.”

Pressing further, Mr Buhari’s administration on Wednesday asked the House of Representatives to empower the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to regulate the activities of internet broadcasting entities and other online media.

Mr Mohammed, in his submission at a public hearing on a bill to amend the National Broadcasting Commission Act, asked the lawmakers to include the regulation of all online and internet broadcasting entities in section two (C) of the bill, as per a Premium Times report.

If the House considers the recommendation of the information minister, online broadcasting entities including Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms will have to get approval from NBC to operate in Nigeria.

Over the years, Nigerian politicians have been in the habit of approaching Western newspapers to publish opinions to launder their images to dispel criticism.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 hired Levick, a Washington-based public relations and lobby firm, to help rev up his plummeting public approval rating after the abduction of over 250 schoolgirls by the Boko Haram insurgents.

In the same vein, Mr Buhari’s APC in 2014 paid for the services of AKPD Message and Media to improve its chances at the general elections held in 2015. In 2019 the party re-engaged AKPD Message and Media alongside a South African PR agency.

Also, former vice president Atiku Abubakar in 2019 contracted the services of top U.S lobbyist Brian Ballard U.S ahead of the 2019 Presidential election. (Peoples Gazette)

APC Fabricated Lies To Sabotage Jonathan’s Government —Timi Frank, Ex-APC Spokesman

Ex-APC National Spokesman, Mr Timi Frank

Timi Frank, the former deputy national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC)? called on imams, pastors and traditional rulers to beg former President Goodluck Jonathan for forgiveness as he revealed how he alongside others fabricated lies to sabotage his government.

Lamenting over the insecurity witnessed across the country, the former APC spokesperson disclosed that he has personally asked the former Nigerian leader for forgiveness.

“I call on Nigerians that we should beg former President Goodluck Jonathan for wrongly voted him out and sabotaged his government. I must confess that as an APC figure in 2015, we fabricated many lies against Jonathan, though I have publicly apologised to him but other Nigerians, especially the pastors, Imams, traditional rulers and other opinion leaders should beg for forgiveness too,” he said.

“It is obvious now that insecurity in our nation has gone out of hand. The challenge was limited to a zone under Goodluck Jonathan but presently no state, including General Buhari’s home state is secured.”

Questioning the Buhari-led government on the whereabouts of the $1 billion dollars withdrawn from the excess crude account (ECA) to fight insecurity, Timi Frank admitted the entrenchment of democracy and rule of law in Jonathan’s administration.

“Under Jonathan, Nigerians abroad were relocating back home but under Buhari Nigerians are running away. Under Jonathan Nigerians are respected all over the world but that has since gone under Buhari.

“Under Jonathan Nigerians were crying in tears but now Nigerians are crying in blood. Under Jonathan, there was freedom of speech but that has long gone under the APC administration.

“Under Jonathan, poverty, hunger and unemployment were not as bad as it is today. Under Jonathan Nigeria was a unitedunited Nation but sentiments have taken over now.
“As it is now, all the institutions of government that were working well under Jonathan have all been blackmailed and politicised.

“So, I call on others who betrayed Jonathan to come out publicly and apologise to him. I also use this opportunity to appeal to former President Jonathan to forgive Nigerians and bless the Nation against the evils that have pervaded the land” he added.

SHOCKING: Graphic Details Of How Biafran Prophet Nwoko Was Murdered Surfaces [Photos]

Lifeless body of Prophet Anthony Nwoko still sitting on his home sofa, will he was left to bleed to death.

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue

THE last may have not been heard concerning the brutal murder and assassination of renowned Enugu-based prophet, late Anthony Nwoko as shocking and devastating pictures of the slain cleric suddenly surfaced.

An unknown source, simply identified as “3rd Eye Images”, today, released to the media, devastating pictures of the slain prophet who was seen lying in the pool of his blood in his apartment in Enugu after his supposed assailants left him for dead.

This is coming weeks after speculations were rife in certain quarters that Prophet Nwoko may not have been murdered and that he died a natural death, otherwise, his pictures would have been sighted online.

The gory pictures, however, confirmed that the fiery prophet was indeed butchered from his forehead down to his skull with a lethal weapon, supposedly a machete by yet-to-be identified group of persons involved in the dastardly act.

It was reliably gathered by our correspondent that some certain persons, involved in the investigation to unravel the killers of the fiery prophet has since gone underground, following threats to their lives.

Recall that the 65 year old prophet, was reportedly killed by unknown assailants on April 15, Monday night at his apartment located at No. 18 Ezebinugwu Street, beside Bright Land International School, Ugbene 2, in the Trans-Ekulu/Abakpa axis of Enugu.

Nwoko had lived alone, so, it was said that his death became known when a neighbour noticed that the door of his apartment had remained open; peeped in and saw the man in the pool of his blood.

The neighbours immediately alerted the police, who in turn, effected the immediate arrest of close neighbours to the slain prophet, although, no official statement has been released by the police.

But until recently, the sexagenarian was a close ally of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who prayed for him and the group.

Nwoko, before his demise, had raised the alarm that his life was in danger and that he was receiving death threats from members of the IPOB over his bribery allegations against their leader, Kanu. Late Nwoko, however, was murdered after alleged instigation by IPOB leadership who labelled him a “DSS agent and saboteur” for falling out with Kanu.

However, the CSO of the Enugu State chapter of IPOB, Mr. Victor Egede, has since denied claims of his alleged involvement in the murder of the prophet.

The deceased cleric who uses social media as a means of propagation of his fiery prophecies, last posted on his Facebook account at about 1:40pm on April 14, where he uploaded various online reports of his views on Biafra agitation, including video clips from Kpakpando TV.
