The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Wednesday, tackled Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state over an alleged comment that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, reneged on agreements reached with him and other South East governors during his interview granted to BBC Igbo Service in the Government House, Umuahia.
The group challenged Governor Ikpeazu to tell the world, where, when and with whom he met Kanu, saying that it would not allow him (Ikpeazu) to get away with this bare-faced deceit and lies
IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, while reacting to interview allegedly granted to BBC Igbo Service recently said that he should publish whatever material at his disposal that would lend credence to his assertions.
Powerful stated, “Over the coming days and weeks, Okezie Ikpeazu will be methodically and systematically shredded publicly for his blatant lies against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the great IPOB movement he leads. It will be in his best interest and that of his Northern handlers to publish whatever material at his disposal that will lend credence to his assertions, chiefly that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu reneged on agreements reached with him and other South East governors during his interview granted to BBC Igbo Service in the Government House Umuahia.
“He must tell the world, where, when and with whom he met Nnamdi Kanu. We will not allow him to get away with this bare-faced deceit and lies. Lying has become second nature to most of these Hausa Fulani stooges masquerading as politicians in Igboland especially.
“These peddling of lies and distortion of facts against Kanu is a well-orchestrated plan conceived prior to Operation Python Dance 2 which they the governors initiated with Nnia Nwodo”
“They hoped to use compromised media channels like the BBC to peddle these lies that they had an agreement with Kanu when such never happened. Okezie Ikpeazu is a mass murderer cited at the ongoing case review by ICC at The Hague.
“He is also indicted in the ongoing lawsuit in the USA. He has been rejected by the public along with his other Fulani Islamic servants at Government Houses across the South East, so lying against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or using his name is the only way to gain relevance and sympathy.
“Anybody who believes in anything coming out of the mouth of an Igbo governor or Nnia Nwodo led Ohaneze Ndigbo needs psychiatric help”.
“Okezie Ikpeazu failed to understand that the highly respected and foremost constitutional lawyer Prof. Ben Nwabueze was at the meeting between Nnamdi Kanu and Igbo governors which he Okezie Ikpeazu did not attend.
“We ask between Okezie Ikpeazu and Prof Ben Nwabueze who has more credibility? The truth about how Igbo governors and Nnia Nwodo out of petty envy and jealousy of the popularity and public acceptance of Nnamdi Kanu arranged for Hausa Fulani soldiers to use the cover of Operation Python Dance to assassinate him is well known to the world”.
“Okezie Ikpeazu should keep his testimony and evidence with him because he will soon be called upon to give the account of his role in the military invasion and abduction of Nnamdi Kanu and his parents from their home”.
“We are placing the world on notice that Okezie Ikpeazu has never met with our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu despite the fact that Umuahia government house sits on his ancestral land and his father the traditional ruler.
“Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is an unrepentant liar in the mould of other Igbo Biafra traitors before him. The day of reckoning is fast approaching and when that arrives, there will be no amount of Ghana Must Go bags or Hausa Fulani soldiers to defend them” Powerful alleged.
Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has described the missing leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, as a constant liar and that he never consulted him before taking any action.
“Whenever you talk with Nnamdi Kanu, he always speaks from both sides of his mouth; he is not a straightforward person. He never consulted me before taking any action,” Ikpeazu said.
The governor made this claims during an interview with the recently launched British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Igbo.
Ikpeazu, who said there was no doubt that Igbo people are being marginalised in Nigeria, however, said that there was the need for the people to discuss as one on how to get out of the situation.
He said, “Although we all agreed that we Igbos are being marginalised but we should sit down and discuss the way out.”
Also accepting that there was the need for Ndigbo to have a leader who could lead them to the Promised Land, the governor argued that such a person should not be Kanu, who according to him, hates the governors from the region despite their love for him.
“Nnamdi Kanu hates South East governors, he does not want to associate with us despite the love we have for him.
“It’s true that Igbos are being marginalised but how can we get to the promise land? Who will lead the Igbos to the promise land? Do we have enough guns if war should break out?”
This is coming just as the wife of Nnamdi Kanu, Uche, had a day earlier insisted that the Nigerian Army knows the whereabouts of her husband, whom she said she does not if he is alive or dead.
Uche, who also spoke to BBC Igbo, said that the last time she spoke with her husband was in September 2017, when Nigerian Army invaded their home in Abia State. (Ripples Nigeria)
Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), yesterday, came down hard on World Igbo Youth Council (WIYC), for ruling out Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, for a second term in office.
Few days ago, WIYC had called on Abias not tore-elect Governor Okezie Ikpeazu
However, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, OYC said it was time faceless groups stopped stoking embers of crisis in Igbo land.
The group noted that it knows the people behind the media attack on Ikpeazu and described the discourse on 2019 Abia governorship election as premature, sponsored by desperate politicians to distract the governor.
“We have followed closely, the World Igbo Youth Council and so we know those behind the mask; we know their paymasters. However, we want to make it categorically clear that this is not the time for any form of politicking, more so as the Independent National Electoral Electoral has not lifted the ban on political campaigns.
“In addition, the World Igbo Youth Council has no locus standi to decide the political fate of governor Ikpeazu in 2019. Only the people of Abia state reserve that right and nobody can take if from them.
“It is, therefore, not just illegal but criminal for any group to start talking about who will occupy the Abia Government House in 2019.
“We caution that we will not allow desperate politicians, who want power through the back-door to destabilize Abia State. If they don’t stop fortwith, we shall in the next 7 days publish names of all the people behind that and other media attacks aimed at distracting Governor Ikpeazu from focusing on continuing to deliver laudable dividends of democracy to Abians.
“While the Ohanaeze Youth Council lauds Ikpeazu for his efforts at industrialising Abia state, promoting Made-in-Aba brands and unmatched infrastructure development efforts in the state, we urge political calm in the state, especially after the politically-motivated military assault on the state which threatened to snowball into a national catastrophe, if not for the crises management dexterity of the governor.
“It is important to note that we also undertook discreet investigation of the deployment of various intervention funds received by Abia government and we found out that Abia state received the following intervention funds from FG: Bailout fund-N14.2 billion; Paris Club debt refund (Tranche 1) N10.6 billion and Paris Club debt refund (Tranche 2) N5.7 billion
“Abia state government constituted a committee made up of the different labour Union leaders; namely NLC, TUC, NULGE, NUP, NUT and Joint Negotiating Council. The committee took charge of the disbursement of the funds to various areas of greater needs and exigencies.
“Overall, Abia received N16.3 billion from the Paris Club refund and deployed N11.6 billion to service workers/pensioners wage bill.
“This translates to commitment of more than 71 percent of total receipt to service workers’ salaries and pension.
“The transparency of the exercise was applauded by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, which singled out Abia and two other states for their transparency in the disbursement and utilisation of the fund. So, we believe that Ikppeazu is on course.”
“At the appropriate time, we shall make our ratings public, not just on Ikpeazu but other governors in the South-East.” (The Sun)
The World Igbo Youth Congress (WIYC), has said that Abia people should not make the mistake of re-electing Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for a second tenure, stating that he has not done anything for Abians to guarantee him a second tenure in office as the Governor the state.
They noted that rather than make concrete efforts towards the development of the State, paying salaries of workers and providing dividends of democracy to Abians he claim to be governing, he has been busy aiding and abetting Biafra agitators.
According to them, even “civil servants in Abia State have never had it so bad since the return to democracy in 1999, and the man at the saddle at this point in history, appears unready to bring to table any attempt to strategise and make their lives better”.
This is contained in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of WIYC, Mazi Alex Okemiri .
Okemiri said that Ikpeazu has done nothing to guarantee him a second term in office.
“Apart from civil servants, pensioners are also groaning with several months of pension arrears. All these are happening despite the several bailout funds and Paris Club refund, as well as the monthly statutory allocation and internally generated revenue that comes into the state.
“It only shows that the Governor is either insensitive to the plight of workers or lacks the wherewithal to govern Abia State.”
“May we also point out that the state of infrastructure in Abia State has remained everything but pitiable. We get embarrassed each time picture of terrible state of roads in different parts of the state surface on the social media.
Most of the Governor’s aides are even richer than the Governor and Abia, we know that Ikpeazu as a person is a good man with intention to promote made in Aba products, but his aides countermands his policies and procedures for governance, one of his aides on special duties and personal aide from his wife’s village have bought almost all the landed properties in Umuahia and Aba, it appears Ikpeazu lacks the capacity to discipline these aides Who are richer than him, we have no option to drag Ikpeazu’s aides to EFCC with all the evidence against them , for them to refund all the looted funds from Abia treasury”, WIYC alleged.
“We have observed the pains and sadness in the faces of Abia people, we have asked what have the government has done with the borrowed funds which the Abia house of assembly approved for him which runs into billions of Naira, Obingwa people are regretting having their son as Governor, there’s no single road done in Ikpeazu LGA, he has no road to his village, there’s no Youth Empowerment, there’s high rate of crime in Aba, kidnapping has returned to Aba, there’s multiple taxation on traders ,it has taken Ikpeazu 28months to build drainage from Osisioma junction to Aba main park, a 2kilometres road, yet there’s no hope to complete it, the Igbo Youths decried.
“This has continued because the current administration is not prepared for governance. As such, it will be a disservice to the people to think of re-electing the governor in 2019.
“We believe and indeed urge the people of Abia State to begin the process of searching for a competent hand that would pull the state out of the doldrums of poverty and bag governance. Time has come for the good people of Abia state to do away with god-fatherism. We have seen the adverse effects and cannot continue in such a manner”, we hereby declare Abia Government house vacant, and warn PDP to replace Ikpeazu or be ready to lose Abia State Government house for the first time since 1999 to APC or APGA ,APC /APGA should field candidates from Abia South, to beat PDP if they field Ikpeazu at last the group concluded.
It could be re-called that same group had few days ago accused Ikpeazu and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of plotting the escape of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and called for the immediate arrest of Abaribe.
It’s duty of security agents to locate him, he says

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, declared, again, at the presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, he does not know the whereabouts of leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The governor told State House Correspondents, after he met Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, behind closed doors, that those looking for Kanu may have information about his whereabouts.
“Kanu is my brother but, he is not in the custody of Abia State Government.
“Those who are looking for him may have better knowledge and have the capacity to determine the location of anyone in Nigeria. There are people who are trained to track people and it is their responsibility, not mine,” the governor said.
Following the invasion of Kanu’s family house in Abia State in September, by the Nigerian army, his whereabouts has remained unknown.
Soldiers of Operation Python Dance II invaded his family residence, following alleged escalation of his group’s lawlessness.
After the incident, Kanu’s relatives accused the military of being in custody of the IPOB leader, while the army equally denied knowledge of his whereabouts.
Since the September invasion of Kanu’s family residence, various accounts of his whereabouts have emerged, with some claiming that he has escaped to the United Kingdom (UK), where he is also a citizen.
There are yet other Nigerians, who believe that he might have been killed by the soldiers during the attack on his home.
Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, reportedly said Kanu’s brother told him that the IPOB leader had fled the country to the UK, through Malaysia.
Kanu is facing trial for alleged treason and he was supposed to appear in court last Tuesday.
Consequently, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who stood as surety for him, is also at a crossroad.
Abaribe has been asked to produce Kanu but he also does not know his whereabouts.
Kanu is facing trial along with three others, and a fourth co-defendant, Bright Chimezie, who is yet to be added to the list of defendants.
The governor also spoke on the investment and trade potentials created by his renewed vigour to boost business in the state, pointing out that the shoe and textile industry, which the state is famous for, had already recorded N1.4 billion turnover in the past year. (The Sun)
