Take Your Python Dance To Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen, BIM Tells FG |RN

MilitaryinSE-SS

From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

The Ralph Uwazuruike faction of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) otherwise called Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, has advised the federal government against the deployment of soldiers to the South East.

The group advised the government to rather invest their military exploits in pushing back and defeating Boko Haram and stopping the killer herdsmen that terrorize most states of the south of Nigeria. The Nnewi South Regional Administrator of BIM, Chief Anthony Nwodo, said the Operation Python Dance in the east has an ulterior motive of extermination of the Igbo nation by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari. “It is because of the Biafra agitation that Operation Python Dance was sent to us.

There is no ethnic group without crisis. They should withdraw the python now. It was not launched in Boko Haram controlled Areas or in states where herdsmen attack residents and farmers and the armed robbers/kidnappers infested Kaduna/Abuja highway.”

“What happens in the north is worse than IPOB activities here in the south, yet they did not think it appropriate to send their coward soldiers who fled to Cameroun and other neighbouring nations when they were attacked by Boko Haram insurgents.”

“Let them come to us on intelligence advice on how to subdue criminals instead of pretending to be crime fighters when they are cowards,” Nwodo fumed.

In his contribution, the Anambra Central zonal leader, Emmanuel Omenka, said, “we are not violent and we are not afraid of attack or arrest and that was why we did not attack IPOB members when they attacked us in Onitsha during the celebration of 18 years of MASSOB existence”  (The Sun)

MASSOB Threatens Showdown Over Detained Members |The Republican News

From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

Members of the Chief Ralph Uwazurike-led Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, yesterday threatened to occupy the streets of Anambra indefinitely over the continued incarceration of their members in prison for the past four years.

MASSOB-BIM Leader for Anambra South, Chief Arinze Igbani and the Acting Regional Administrator for Awka South, Sunday Ozoilo, in a joint press briefing in Onitsha accused some judges in Anambra State of constituting a clog in the wheel of freedom for their detained members.

Citing the case of four of their members, Chukwuemeka Arua, ThankGod Mark, Chidi Nweke and Emmanuel Akachukwu, who have been languishing in prison custody since 2013, after they were arrested in connection with the MASSOB sit-at-home order, Igbani and Ozoilo noted that the four were granted bail at Ogidi High Court on June 14, 2017, but the presiding judge was unable to sign the bail documents before proceeding on annual vacation. The MASSOB-BIM leaders who presented the court documents to authenticate their claims noted that the judge who had earlier chided the police for not filing any proof of evidence for armed robbery and conspiracy against the accused for the past four years, later turned around to insist on confirming the authenticity of land documents tendered by their sureties from the Ministry of Lands before allowing the detainees to breath the air of freedom.

They called on the National Judicial Council, Federal and State governments, including various human rights bodies both local and international to come to their aid before they are provoked into violence.

The Biafra agitation group also disclosed that 12 of their members are also struggling to free themselves from various spurious charges brought against them because of their struggle for Biafran independence in various courts in Onitsha, Atani, Otuocha and Nteje, noting that 18 years after their continuous agitations for Biafra, they can never be cowed into submission by various state agents. “Our members were arrested by Special Anti Robbery Squad and after severe torture and other dehumanizing treatment, they were charged to court and remanded in prison custody.

Those cases have lingered while most wives and children of our members have been living like widows and the fatherless.

The hopes of the four families to reunite again with their breadwinners were dashed last month because of the insistence of that judge who is an Igbo woman.

The implication is that they will still remain in custody till after vacation in September. Our patience is running out,” they lamented. (The Sun)

Anambra Guber: BIM Slams IPOB, Says Election Must Hold In Anambra |RN

From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

The Chief Ralph Uwazurike -led Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and the Biafran Independent Movement, BIM yesterday slammed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu over its stance that there would be no governorship election in Anambra by November this year.

Uwazurike who spoke in Onitsha through its MASSOB-BIM Leader for Anambra South senatorial zone, chief Arinze Igbani asked IPOB and its leader to desist henceforth from instilling fear into people’s mind concerning the election.

The MASSOB-BIM Leader described the act of using Biafran flag to chase politicians away and disrupting their rallies as an act of foolishness on the part of the IPOB, just as he accused them of desecrating the Biafran symbol.

“IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu by their actions are making a mockery of the Biafran Flag which Ojukwu fought for and Chief Uwazurike raised it again after the Civil War, on May 22, 2000.  Flag is the pride of any nation but today Nnamdi Kanu is using it as a tool to attack Nigerian politicians.  MASSOB-BIM is not part of no -election propaganda in Anambra State. This is because election cannot stop Biafra.

“Holding election in Anambra State or the entire South- East cannot stop Biafra and stopping election cannot give us Biafra. It is only the International Community that can help us by giving us the recognition we need and other things will follow” he said.

He advised all those hiding under the banner of IPOB and trying to make trouble in any part of Biafra in the name of stopping the election in any part of Igbo land to have a rethink, saying “they are ignorant of the rudiments of the struggle to actualize Biafra. If Biafra comes up on that day of the election, even one day after swearing in, for instance, everything about that government will stop. Let peace reign everywhere in the Biafran land as directed by our leader, Chief Uwazurike and we shall continue to follow non-violence approach in actualizing Biafra” Igbani, added.         (The Sun)

The BIM/MASSOB members had on Monday grounded business activities in the commercial city, and continued the protest yesterday along the major streets of Onitsha under the watchful eyes of security agencies who, however, did not open fire on the protesters as before.
The group, as early as 8 am, converged on Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area from where they matched in a convoy of over one hundred Keke Napep and Buses, brandishing the Biafran Flag and fliers along Obosi, Nkpor road through the Limca road to upper Iweka and Bridge Head, chanting and dancing to Biafra songs.
The Divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of Onitsha central police station, SP Ikechukwu Egbochukwu who led the monitoring team, confirmed the protest match but said the police patrol was on the ground to ensure it was peaceful.
He, however, referred newsmen to the Anambra Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nkiru Nwode for confirmation and briefing on any further development.
When contacted, the PPRO said that Anambra did not witness any MASSOB protest since Monday claiming that Anambra was peaceful and calm and therefore no person was arrested except for the gang of kidnappers smashed by the police at Urum in Awka North LGA.
She said the police also rescued the kidnap victim and recovered the gang’s rifles.
Meanwhile, MASSOB/BIM Director of Publicity, Mazi Chris Mocha said although the celebration was for seven days, they had no activity slated for yesterday but since it was a peaceful exercise there was no cause for alarm.  (Authority)

Economic activities within Owerri were on Monday paralysed by the splinter group of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereignty State of Biafra, who stormed the major roads and streets of the city in celebration of Biafra Independence Day.

The protesters, who arrived in buses from the 27 local government areas of the state with flags and placards bearing various inscriptions, depicting commitment to Biafra, wore military uniforms and chanted Biafra songs.

The protesters comprising of men, women and youths, arrived the busy Douglas Road by 8am from where they moved to the popular Ama JK Junction, Wetheral Road, Tetlow Road, Royce Road and Bank Road.

Acknowledging cheers from supporters, who incessantly shouted, “On Biafra we stand!”, the protesters defied the scorching early morning sun as they proceeded to the Maria Assumpta Roundabout, popularly called Control-Post, where they later assembled.

Armed policemen who were closely watching the agitators did not stop or harass the protesters ostensibly because it was non-violent.

In a telephone chat with our correspondent, the leader of the Biafra Independent Movement, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, said that the march was organised to prove his commitment to the actualisation of the Biafran project.

He said, “I challenge anybody who claims to be of a higher command and authority than myself in the struggle to actualise Biafra to come out and prove his mettle. Of course, nobody, group, or association can do this because they lack the capacity and membership to do so.”

Uwazuruike, who expressed satisfaction with the peaceful protest, said he was optimistic that the Biafran project would eventually be realised in no distant time.

Meanwhile, more than 40 pro-Biafra activists were arrested by the police while holding a rally to commemorate ‘Biafra Day’ in Enugu, on Monday.

Forty-seven were arrested in Cross River and 50 were nabbed in Ebonyi.

The arrested activists in Enugu were members of the Biafra Independence Movement, a group led by Uwazuruike, a former leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra.

Major pro-Biafra groups, MASSOB and the Indigenous People of Biafra, celebrate ‘Biafra Day’ on May 30, but BIM commemorates the defunct Biafra nation on May 22.  (Punchng.com)

MASSOB/BIM: Why We Cancelled Sit-At-Home To Mark Biafran Day

 By Philip Nwosu

massob

The Movement for the Actualisations of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafran Independent Movement (BIM) has cancelled the sit at home order earlier suggested to mark the independent anniversary of Biafra.

MASSOB/BIM, in joint press conference in Lagos said on May 30, 2017, people of Igbo nationality in Lagos and other parts of  world will celebrate Biafra independence, not by sitting at home as earlier scheduled, adding that, “on that day, everybody should come out and celebrate, we are not mourning, we are celebrating.”

The leader of MASSOB/BIM in Lagos, Mr. Chukwuma Eyisi urged Biafrans to come out on May 22 to celebrate the independence of Biafra which they said was achieved on May 30, 1967, adding that the authority to recognise Biafra does not belong to Nigeria, “it is an international matter.”

He said on the days of the celebration,  the group will continue to abide by its principle of non-violence, explaining also that Biafra will celebrate its independence like any other sovereign state in the world. The group said like the Palestinian Liberation Orgainsation, MASSOB had achieved  recognition by observers at the United Nations, adding that structures that make Biafra a state were already established within the organsation.

MASSOB/BIM)led by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has earlier cancelled it planned sit at home order slated for May 30, explaining that it  would rather hold football matches in major cities across the south east.

The movement has in place of sit-at-home protest on May 30 planned  week-long beginning from  from May 22 and ends on May 30.

Eyisi who is also the zonal leader of MASSOB/BIM in Lagos said: “MASSOB-BIM wants to celebrate Biafra on May 22. It is our day, a day that Uwazuruike, our leader hoisted Biafran flag on May 22, 2000 and we want to celebrate it. It is the day we have mapped out every year to thank God for keeping us alive in the last 17 years when the renewed struggle for the emancipation of Biafra was started by our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike”.

They stated that it was on May 22, 1999 that their leader, Chief Uwazuruike hoisted Biafra flag in Aba to signal the group’s loss of interest to be part of Nigeria any more.

The Lagos MASSOB-BIM leaders  stressed that the peaceful and non-violent approach of the group in its struggle have made them to remain focused and undaunted, adding that MASSOB was not part of any planned May 30 sit-at-home protest.  (The Sun)

In a statement  yesterday  by the Director of Information of the movement, Sunny Okereafor, Uwazuruike said  it had become imperative for the President to convoke a national sovereign conference following the ongoing crisis in Kaduna State and earlier disturbances by various pressure groups kicking against marginalisation of their zones.

Uwazuruike described the upheavals in Kaduna, where over 800 people have been killed as a manifestation of a diseased nation.

He said it was part of the reasons they have consistently asked for the independence of Ndigbo.

“I have been calling for sovereign national conference since 1999 when I started the struggle but nobody listened to me. Now, look at the crisis in the Niger Delta, the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East and now the planned massacre in southern Kaduna.

“This is an indication that all is not well with the country and it is now imperative for the President to stop playing the ostrich and convoke a national conference to save the country from violent break up.”

The MASSOB leader, however, appealed to Ndigbo to remain calm, assuring that the “much awaited time” for the independence of Biafra was almost at hand.

He added that the 18th anniversary of MASSOB coming up on May 22 may usher in the dream of Ndigbo.

2017: No Going Back On Biafra, Says BIM |The Republican News

From Emmanuel Uzor, Abakaliki and Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

THE Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), one of the frontline groups affiliated to the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), yesterday reiterated its readiness to continue their agitation until Biafra is achieved.

Leader of MASSOB-BIM, Ebonyi South zone, Mr. Sunday Ezaka disclosed that the only way to lasting peace and political stability of the nation was for the Federal Government to allow the sovereignty of Biafra nation to come into full existence.

“Members of MASSOB-BIM in Ebonyi South zone, Ebonyi State support Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the leader of MASSOB-BIM and Chief S.O Chukwu for their vision for the Igbo and Biafra nation.

“Today, Biafra has come to be a reality and very soon it will be open and clear to everybody. The only thing that will bring peace to Nigeria and Biafra is for the Federal Government to stop opposing the full existence of Biafra.”

Also,  the group called on elder statesmen, senior citizens and Army chiefs in various parts of the country to galvanise forces this Christmas season to achieve their independence from Nigeria.

MASSOB-BIM leader for Anambra North, Chief Emmanuel Omenka who made the call in Onitsha yesterday through the zonal Director of Information, Charles Igbokwe, said this period of mass return presents a golden opportunity for stakeholders in various regions of the country to come together and press home their demand for an independent nation.

Omenka said if those who are supposed to take action decide to remain docile, the implication is that the people would continue to suffer for decades.

He said it was their time to save their people from bondage by doing the needful so that their people could be liberated from bondage and political servitude.

Omenka also urged all Igbo citizens within and those living outside the zone to feel at home this Christmas and beyond because of the tight security provided by MASSOB-BIM security arm.

He chided the police, the government  and other security agencies thumping their chest for providing security and boasted that if not for their (MASSOB-BIM) internal secret security arrangement put in place, nobody would have ventured to move around in the South East within this Yuletide owing to  security challenges.

“If Biafra stays on its own, it will help a lot. We have all the

minerals resources and endowment that will help us develop and be

independent for life. It will bring peace as Biafran will develop

without bounds. The Federal Government is not helping matters and we

blame them for all the deaths of our members since the agitation began
