Buhari Is Nigeria’s Most Incompetent President, Says Atiku |The Republican News

                                                   Buhari, Atiku

Former Vice-President Abubakar Atiku has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s failure to retain significant individuals in his party was a sign of weakness and lack of leadership.

Atiku, through his campaign organisation, said his attempt to come to power “is to clean the mess that Buhari would leave which has resulted in job loss, poor economy and ranking of the country as one of the poorest.”

The spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Segun Sowunmi, in a reaction to Buhari’s comment while receiving the All Progressive Congress nomination forms, said, “Never in the history of Nigeria has a more incompetent person served in the chambers of the exalted office of the President. No President of Nigeria, politics apart, will speak in such manner. The fact is that freedom of association is guaranteed by all the United Nations’ conventions and the constitution of our country.

“That Buhari has not been able to provide leadership and keep high-network individuals in the APC is to his own weakness and a question of his lack of capacity to keep Nigerians together. We are in the campaign and we are on the ballot. Atiku is attempting to become the President to clean the mess that Buhari caused in our country.

“Buhari has made many Nigerians lose their jobs and our country has become one of the poorest countries in the world. He has divided the country and people cannot move freely. He has made a mess of the economy.

“Therefore, we take his comment as not possibly referring to us. He should speak to issues, development, job creation, restructuring and so on. Obviously, these things he cannot do.”

President Buhari had on Tuesday lashed out at defectors from the All Progressives Congress, describing them as weak and selfish politicians.    (Punch)

Lawmakers To APC: Saraki Not Cause Of Your Failure To Fulfil Promises|RN

senate

“They have devised another propaganda stunt to start heaping the blames of their failure to bring positive change to Nigeria on Saraki.”

Chairmen, Senate Committee on Navy and the Committee on Banking, Finance and Other Financial Institutions, Isah Hamma Misau and Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, respectively, have advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leaders to desist from looking for scapegoats for the failure to fulfil their promises to the electorate.

Misau and Rafiu in a statement stated that the APC leaders have continued to whine about what Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki did or did not do to ensure the Buhari government failed without caring whether it was reasonable to believe that one single individual who had been continuously assailed by the government would at the same time be in a position to ground the government.

“APC leaders are being clever by half. They have spent most of the last 38 months harassing Saraki and sponsoring media attacks against him. Now that the man has been vindicated by the courts and he has decided to leave their party, they have devised another propaganda stunt to start heaping the blames of their failure to bring positive change to Nigeria on Saraki.

“For three years of the APC administration, former president Goodluck Jonathan was the scapegoat they blamed. Now that it dawned on them that nobody is listening to that tale by moonlight again, their propaganda machinery has shifted focus to Saraki as the new man to blame. These are characters who cannot take responsibility for their inability to provide good governance as they promised.

“Must these people blame somebody all the time?

“Were they elected to bring in positive change or to shift blames? It is irresponsible for people invested with a popular mandate to always look for somebody to be held responsible for their failure to fulfil their promises and give expression to the mandate they were given.

“Instead of concentrating on how to use the next six months before the general elections to hasten the completion of infrastructure projects, enunciation of policies and initiation of programmes which can improve the standard of living of the people and ameliorate the consistent failure of the last three years, the APC is now led by demagogues who seem not to care if they bring the entire country down.

“The new leadership of the APC have continued to advertise the inability of the party to manage a victory, their penchant for violence as a way of saving their faces and their lack of the much-needed temperament to wield together a country with diverse culture, ethnicity and religion like Nigeria.

“When they continue to blame Saraki for their failure, was the man responsible for their failure to appoint ministers for the first five months of the administration when the economy was just straying without direction? Is he responsible for the constant demarketing of the economy in international circles by the President of the country? Is Saraki responsible for the refusal of the government to prosecute its members indicted of corrupt practices, thereby destroying its anti-corruption campaign?”   (The Sun)

U.S Visit: You Missed Chance To Self- redeem, Obasanjo Tells Buhari |RN

By Kunle Olayeni Abeokuta

 buhari-and-obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday declared that he would not back down from his opposition to President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid, insisting that the president had failed Nigerians.

Obasanjo also spoke about the just concluded meeting between President Buhari and President Donald Trump of United States, saying “for whatever the meeting was worth, President Buhari again bungled another opportunity to self-redeem.”

In a statement signed by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, the former president also denied ever meeting with the Comrade Ayuba Wabba-led leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to canvass support for Buhari’s second term bid.
He was reacting to a report published by an online medium titled “Workers’ Day: Obasanjo makes U-turn, declares support for Buhari.”

But the former president described the report as deliberate falsehood aimed at hoodwinking unsuspecting Nigerians.

“For the record, Obasanjo has not and cannot endorse failure,” he stated.
He maintained that his position remains as stated in his January 23rd, 2018 statement on the state of the nation, wherein he asked the president not to seek re-election.

Obasanjo said Buhari’s performance had been nothing but mediocre, adding that he “will continue to exercise his right to free speech and no amount of hate speech will assuage Nigerians who are in need of a brand new leadership.”

The statement partly read, “It has come to the attention of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that some elements in the Muhammadu Buhari camp and or support group are desperate to secure a second term, fair or foul.

“In this desperation, everything is fair, including telling libellous lies against persons and institutions, instead of addressing the fundamental issues of statecraft and economic management.

“In the last 24 hours, the Internet has been bombarded with deliberate falsehoods aimed at hoodwinking the unsuspecting Nigerians to believe that Obasanjo has now supported Buhari for his second term because of some perceived Buhari’s ‘superlative’ performance in his encounter with Trump during his visit to the White House in Washington D. C.

“In another breath, these blackmailers insinuated that Chief Obasanjo met with some Nigeria Labour Congress leaders in his house in Abuja on Workers’ Day.
“What a pathetic fallacy! Chief Obasanjo never met any Labour man or woman on May 1, 2018, to make any supposed volte-face to support Buhari.

“Furthermore, neither was Chief Obasanjo in Abuja on that date nor does he own a house in Abuja. Any time he visits Abuja, he usually stays in a guest house or hotel.
“For the record, Obasanjo has not and cannot endorse failure.

“His position remains as stated in his January 23rd, 2018 statement on the state of the nation. Chief Obasanjo sympathises with the plight of those campaigners and supporters of Buhari. He doesn’t believe dishing out fake news that can only be believed by imbeciles will turn black into white.

“Nigerians know that Chief Obasanjo has only spoken the truth about widening poverty, alienation and social disunity and near disintegration of the country through Buhari’s incompetence.
“Obasanjo will continue to exercise his right to free speech and no amount of hate speech will assuage Nigerians, who are in need of a brand new leadership.

“The mediocre performance of Buhari cannot be described by anybody as ‘superlative’ even by morons, not the least President Obasanjo.”

On the bilateral meeting between Nigeria and the United States presidents, Obasanjo pooh-poohed the parley, saying Buhari bungled another opportunity for self-redemption.

He said, “From the Buhari/Trump meeting, Chief Obasanjo only saw through three points: one, the US will continue to reduce purchase of crude oil from Nigeria and there is nothing Nigeria under Buhari can do about it; two, the US will export agricultural products to Nigeria and Buhari’s government will encourage that; and three – all the killings taking place in Nigeria by herdsmen are being done by expatriates trained by Gadaffi and no Nigerian is to blame and Buhari cannot do anything to stop it.

“For whatever the meeting was worth, President Buhari again bungled another opportunity to self-redeem.

“No wonder President Trump ordered him in a rather condescending manner to go back home and stop the killings going on in Nigeria! We hope now Buhari will heed Trump’s advice which, hopefully, will be considered non-abusive.

“Therefore, Chief Obasanjo is more convinced in his statement of January 23rd and will not change his position. No lies, fake news dished out by these desperate and unintelligent supporters is worth believing and these misinformation cartels and social media dogs will do more damage to the flint reputation of their principal.

“Chief Obasanjo understands that the Internet has good and bad uses. Those abusing the media should desist from this barbaric act as it will only expose them to greater ridicule at the end of the day.”  (New telegraph)

Nigerian Youths Not Lazy, They Must Kick Buhari Out In 2019, Says Fayose |RN

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on youths in Nigeria to show President Muhammadu Buhari that they were not lazy and uneducated by voting against him in 2019, saying; “it is painful that the President could describe youths in Nigeria that are daily struggling to make a living under a harsh economy as lazy people.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said; “Contrary to the morale-killing comment of the President, Nigerian youths are hardworking, intelligent and enterprising. Their future was mortgaged by past leaders like President Buhari, who had everything at their beck and call as youths. I imagine the youths of today having half of the opportunities available in the 50s and 60s.”

He said; “At 19, President Buhari left Secondary School to join the Army. At age 21 (two years in the army), he was commissioned a second lieutenant and appointed Platoon Commander of the Second Infantry Battalion in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Within his 24 years in the Army, the President was Governor of North Eastern State, Minister of Petroleum, Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Head of State. Where can our youths get such opportunity today?

“Under his watch as Minister of Petroleum, N2.8 billion went missing from the accounts of the NNPC in Midlands Bank in the United Kingdom. That N2.8 billion as at that time is like $2.8 billion (over N1 trillion) now and here is he insulting the youths whose existence his likes mortgaged.”

While telling the President to stop de-marketing Nigeria and its people in foreign lands, Governor Fayose reminded Nigerians how he (Buhari) said in an interview with UK Telegraph in February 2016 that some Nigerians in the United Kingdom were disposed to criminality and should not be granted asylum there.

The governor, who insisted that the negative foundation the likes of President Buhari laid for Nigeria has made life impossible for the youths, asked; “As Military Governor of the North Eastern State, what difference did President Buhari make in the lives of youths in the North?”

He described Buhari as an analogue President, saying; “There is no connection between him and the youths because I doubt if he can even use a common android phone. One can’t really blame the President; he does not understand what is obtainable in the country anymore. That’s the reason he was still seeing West Germany and Deutschmark in 2015.”

Urging the youths to use their votes to send President Buhari out of office in 2019, Governor Fayose said; “I did say before now that majority of the youths that voted for President Buhari in 2015 never knew who they were voting for because they did not experience him (Buhari) as a Military ruler. Most of them were those that were born in the 80s and they did not witness Buhari’s clueless and draconian government.

“Now that our youths have seen President Buhari and he has topped his cluelessness up by going to London to insult them by calling them lazy and uneducated people, they should be prepared to vote against him next year and install a President that will value and respect them.”.

Restructuring Sacrosanct To Nigeria’s Unity – Aare Gani Adams |The Republican News

Gani-Adams

Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Aare Gani Adams, has restated his strong belief in restructuring, stressing that for Nigeria to have a genuine unity, the issue of restructuring must be taken care of urgently.

Aare Adams made the submission yesterday when prominent representatives of the Lagos state chapter of Arewa Council of  Chiefs( ACC), and top members of the  Arewa Youth Consultative Forum( AYCF), visited his Omole Phase 2, Lagos, home on a courtesy call.

He said the foundation of   Nigeria’ s  unity is a regionalism, a system where the various federating units develop at their own pace.

” We have to perfect Nigeria to a country that we can be proud of.” Adams, who described the issues of the Fulani herdsmen as a sad reminder of what Nigeria is known for, said: “On a daily basis, what we hear about the Fulanis of the past negates the stories we hear now, and this is sad. The stories started filtering in from the North Central and metamorphosised to the south-west, where people were killed and properties, including several hectares of land, destroyed.

Victims of such dastardly acts, Adams said, include former secretary to the federal government,( SFG), Chief Olu Falae, chief Bisi Rotipe, Admiral Samuel Afolayan and several other prominent Yoruba sons, who have been engaging in farming for over 30 years.

” I am using this opportunity to appeal to you and at the same time ask for your cooperation on the best way to end the unnecessary killings by the herdsmen. The issue of the herdsmen is a security threat to the Yoruba nation and because of your integrity as a people you must do something urgent about this,” he said.

Adams, who harped on unity and peace in the country, expressed appreciation on the visit, saying the Yorubas are very accommodating: “I am proud to say that the Yorubas are the most accommodating race in Nigeria. We have a history of the various ethnic nationalities in the country living with us for more than 300 years. There is a lasting synergy between the OPC and the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, top Niger Delta groups, the Eze Ndigbo and other ethnic groups”, he said

Responding, president of the group, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, said they were on the courtesy call to congratulate Adams on his new position, adding that the relationship between him and Aare dates back to over two decades, particularly, during the time of the struggles.

He said:”Aare Adams is my brother who has been championing a just cause. Given his antecedents and past struggles, I have a number of reasons, including my personal experiences, to say Aare is most qualified for the prestigious title. He deserved the title, that is why we are here as a people to celebrate with him, and I hope one day, we shall change the narratives of this nation”.

He spoke about the state of the nation, saying Nigerians are suffering; “The level of hunger in the country is alarming. It is sad that Nigerians are suffering, and this is occasioned by bad leadership. The issue of the herdsmen is highly politicized, and that the north is not against restructuring.” he said.

No fewer than 30 members of the two groups were present at the meeting. They were: Alhaji Umaru Yunusa, chairman, Lagos state chapter of Kingmakers Council of Arewa Chiefs, Alhaji Abdullah, Marafan Lagos state, Alhaji Rabiu Sidi, Seriki Hausa Ajegunle, Alhaji Sulaimon Bala, Secretary, and Alhaji Isa Mohammed among others.                        (New Telegraph)
