We’ll Speak To You In Language You Understand, IPOB To Fulani Herdsmen Terrorising Enugu Community |RN

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, threatened Fulani herders killing farmers in Enugu State.

IPOB vowed to teach them a lesson in the language they would understand.

About eight persons were recently killed in Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The ambush carried out by herdsmen also left hectares of farmland destroyed, with a number of residents missing.

The community had linked the attack to threats by herdsmen who reportedly blamed IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, for their action.

Reacting, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, described the renewed attack as barbaric.

In a statement he issued, Powerful said the attack has exposed the Nigerian security agencies as hypocrites who are compromised.

The statement titled: “Fulani killer herdsmen slaughtering farmers in Enugu will be taught a lesson in the language they understand,” reads: “The renewed barbaric and unprovoked attacks on different communities in Enugu State by Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen, have once again exposed the hypocrisy of the compromised Nigeria military, police and other security agencies supervising the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Biafrans by the Fulani.

“The same double-faced and Fulani-controlled Nigerian security agencies hunting for the operatives of the Eastern Security Network ESN, are watching Fulani herdsmen as they continue their killing spree across Biafra land.

“Instead of halting these genocidal attacks against innocent Biafrans, the compromised and complicit Nigeria security agencies take pleasure in hunting and killing our volunteers defending our ancestral land. The massacre of innocent Biafrans at Ehamufu in Enugu State Wednesday morning unchallenged by the security agents is another confirmation of the criminal role of the Nigeria security agencies in the evil agenda of the Fulani in Nigeria.

“The barbaric attacks on the hapless people of Eha-amufu and Ogbuji communities in Isi-uzo local government has proven that Nigerian soldiers singular agenda in Biafraland is to be distracting the ESN and IPOB and thereby create the environment for Fulani Herdsmen to continue with their land grabbing tendency and atrocities against Biafran communities.

“We the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, therefore, want to remind the Fulani jihadists masquerading as herdsmen and their partners in crime that they won’t succeed in Biafra land as long as we exist. Our gallant men will again teach them in the only language they understand. We did it before and they attested to that, and we shall do it again.” (Journalist101)

Nigerian Army, Police Killed 115, Unlawfully Arrested 500 Persons In South East In Four Months —Amnesty International |RN

Among those who became victims of ruthless attacks of the security operatives were the volunteers of the Eastern Security Network

No fewer than 115 people have been killed and 500 arrested in the South-East region of the country by Nigerian security agents in four months.

Also, both the military and police have jointly tortured innocent civilians and subjected them to cruel treatment in their numerous raids.

Among those who became victims of ruthless attacks of the security operatives were the volunteers of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), a militia arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

These revelations were made by Amnesty International in a Press Release obtainable to SaharaReporters on Wednesday.

“Amnesty International documented at least 115 persons killed by security forces between January and June 2021. Many relatives of the victims told Amnesty International that they were not part of the militants that were attacking security agents.

“Many of the victims were deposited at government hospitals in Imo and Abia states. According to several hospital sources all the victims deposited by the police had bullet injuries.

“Nigerian security forces have committed a catalogue of human rights violations and crimes under international law in their response to spiralling violence in southeast Nigeria, carrying out a repressive campaign since January which has included sweeping mass arrests, excessive and unlawful force, and torture and other ill-treatment,” said Amnesty International in the statement.

Most of the alleged atrocities unleashed by the nation’s main security agents were carried out in Imo, Anambra and Abia states.

“The evidence gathered by Amnesty International paints a damning picture of ruthless excessive force by Nigerian security forces in Imo, Anambra and Abia states,” said Osai Ojigho, Country Director at Amnesty International.

According to the statement, the security agents haunted South-East residents who they believed were part of the ESN that have killed their men and attacked government infrastructural facilities.

The non-governmental human rights organisation also stated that media firms and eyewitnesses documented some of these inhumane activities of the army and police against armless civilians.

“Nigeria’s government has responded with a heavy hand to killings and violence widely attributed to the armed group calling itself Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), a pro-Biafra movement.

“According to government officials, the ESN killed dozens of security operatives and attacked at least ten public buildings, including prisons, police stations, and other public buildings from January to June. In response, security forces comprising military, police, and Department of State Services (DSS) have killed dozens of gunmen, as well as civilians where attacks have been committed.

“Eyewitnesses told Amnesty International that the security forces have engaged in excessive use of force, physical abuse, secret detentions, extortion, burning of houses, theft, and extra-judicial executions of suspects.

“Human rights groups estimated that the death toll of violence between January and June 2021 in Anambra, Imo, Abia, and Ebonyi states might run into the hundreds. The police said ESN fighters killed 21 of its personnel in Imo state alone.

“Amnesty International carried out an extensive investigation to document the human rights violations and crimes under international law in Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia states from January 2021.

“The organisation documented 52 incidents of unlawful killings and 62 cases of arbitrary arrest, ill-treatment and torture. Media reports, video and audio recordings reviewed show that the Nigerian security forces also employed excessive force and other unlawful means to address the rising violence,” the statement continued.

While establishing some of the horrible occurrences, the Amnesty International buttressed its points with the incident of a German-based Uguchi Unachukwu killed by soldiers at Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri at the last day of May. It also spoke about another man, Matthew Opara shot dead by soldiers near Owerri on May 25.

“Uguchi Unachukwu, a German-based businessman was killed by soldiers on 31 May at a checkpoint near Owerri airport on his way out of the country. The police are yet to investigate the crime.

“Mathew Opara, a 45-year-old businessman, was shot by soldiers on 25 May 2021 in Orji, near Owerri. Witnesses told Amnesty International that he was returning from work when he ran into a team of soldiers in an armoured vehicle and Hilux vans shooting at residents.

“He was shot in the chest and could not receive immediate medical help because of the violence. His family said the military acknowledged the killing but did not launch an investigation or offer any apology,” Amnesty International added.

Onye-Army And Killing Of 2000 Officers: He is Not Known To The Group —IPOB Reacts |The Republican News

Emeoyiri Uzoma Benjamin, alias Onye Army

The Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has said that one Onyearmy who is now in the custody of the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS) and claimed he is a member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) is not known to the group.

The group also said that Onye Army claims that he joined ESN in 2019 is false, as the security outfit was formed on December 12, 2020.

In a statement issued by the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful said that the group also denied that the security outfit killed for charms.

According to the statement, IPOB said it suspected that the man was forced to make those “fallacious claims by the DSS.

The statement read, “We want to make it clear that the purported ESN Commander is not known to us and we discovered that he is a mole planted by Government and security agencies into ESN.

“We know our commanders and they know us. The so-called man must be one of the criminals recruited by the Department of State Services to infiltrate ESN but our gallant men were at alert and smarter than the DSS.

“It is obvious that the so-called ESN Commander and his likes were the saboteurs planted by DSS to assassinate our gallant Ikonso. After killing Ikonso, they are now trying to concoct a tale to implicate our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“We are not surprised that Nigeria took back their mole after the death of Ikonso the unit commander whom the so-called Onyearmy spied over before his death”.

IPOB said it is not, however, surprised that now that the Nigeria security has abducted their leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and put him into custody they will sponsor all manner of criminals to see if they can implicate him and puncture his global reputation.

“The question every sane person will be asking is: why now that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is in custody that the so-called ESN Commander is making this ridiculous confessional statement? (Journalist101)

Abba Kyari Can’t With Withstand Boko, ISWAP, Fulani Bandits In His Hometown —Nnamdi Kanu |RN

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has said Abba Kyari, the Nigerian Army, police cannot withstand Boko Haram, bandits in the Northeast, but running riot in igboland.

Kanu made the remark while accusing Nigerian security operatives of killing Igbo youths while failing to curb terrorists in the Northeast.

The IPOB leader lamented that DCP Abba Kyari and his team are killing imnocent youths in the Southeast.

Speaking through the spokesman of IPOB, Emma Powerful, Kanu insisted that Kyari wrongly tagged innocent Igbo youths as unknown gunmen.

Kanu’s remark was contained in a statement signed and issued by Powerful, on Monday.

The statement reads: “It is unfortunate that super con cop DCP Abba Kyari and his team are killing Igbo youths and labeling them ESN and unknown gunmen. While, the Igbo efulefu elders and politicians has remain mute over the issue of killings, abductions and bribery practices for the release of their innocent victims. Super con cop DCP Abba Kyari’s home town, Gujba in Yobe State and his place of birth Maiduguri in Borno State are among the worst hit in terms of insecurity.

“If truly DCP Abba Kyari is a super cop, he should have used his widely claimed tactics in intelligence field to help dislodge Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Bandits having field day in Northeast of Nigeria which is the region he came from (both Yobe & Borno are in northeast of Nigeria). After all, they say “charity begins at home.”

“Time has proven that Nigerian soldiers and police, including DCP Abba Kyari and his IRT team cannot withstand Boko Haram, ISWAP and bandits operating in the North east where insurgency and insecurity is at large, why be zealous in killing innocent Biafrans, mainly of Igbo extraction?”

When Biafra Finally Comes —by Obiaruko C. Ndukwe |The Republican News

Chief Obiaruko Christie Ndukwe

The agitation for a separate country out of what is known as Nigeria, by two major ethnic groups – the Igbos and the Yourubas, both of Southern Nigeria routing for Biafra nation and Oduduwa Republic is traceable to the failure of successive governments to address Injustice and Inequality.

There is no gainsaying the fact that the concerns are germane, but the approaches of the two separatist groups are different. The agitators for the Yoruba nation are less provocative in their choice of words and non-violent, the Biafra group has become engrossed in using foul language and verbal abuse of those perceived to be opposed to their agenda, or its operational strategies. This has not only caused a rift in the leadership structure of the group known otherwise as the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.

The creation of a more practical and militant wing tagged as the Eastern Security Network, ESN, to checkmate the influx of armed herdsmen into the territory of Igbo land has further pushed the agitation to the precincts and that has attracted an early resistance from the Federal Government of Nigeria and placed the two parties on a heavy collision course.

While the battle for control of security is fierce in the capital city of Owerri, the New stronghold of the Biafra group, leading to untold casualties on both sides of the divide, it is becoming highly worrisome the real essence of tof the Biafran forces the ESN. What was supposed to have been a bracket for any invaders under the guise of herdsmen has become the enemy of the Nigerian State. It is becoming suspicious the motive behind the attacks on public and private infrastructure, the Police and the Army and sometimes, fellow citizens of the proposed Biafran nation.

No sane mind would condone the mindless killing of innocent Nigerians either by the insurgents or by the agitators. Worse still, there is no justification for the setting ablaze of the homes of other Nigerians just because they do not align with the imaginations and quests of the separatist groups in Eastern Nigeria!

I have tried to figure out the reasons for such ignoble acts of terrorism by Nigerians against fellow Nigerians, as if we have become deluded after the killings during the Civil War, which is being reenacted again, sadly by the majority of those who were unborn then or were too young to appreciate the harsh realities that the country faced then.

Though the scars may be old or even absent, the devastation and effects of that crisis are still very high as the trust among the once Eastern bloc has been greatly eroded!

More worrisome is what would become of the Biafran nation if and when it comes when so much blood of those who ought to be liberated has been shed? Is it still fashionable for rebel leaders to rule their people with bloodstained hands? How does anyone sit in their comfort zones and watch the utter decimation of their people, all because of a warped idea of a nation coming soon, even when the indices are apparent that war is no longer the solution to issues of marginalization, deprivation and total neglect.

In a 21st century, there is absolutely nothing wrong with agitations and the push for the rights of every tribe to be respected. But the more acceptable mode of agitation is through dialogue, consultations and more. The concomitant effects of taking up arms against a Government are too grave to expose a people who are already choked by the bigger groups.

The bloodletting on the streets of Imo State must be stopped forthwith, and a new narrative engendered regarding the Biafra conflict.

The poor sufferers of this violent struggle also have the right to live. The youths who have been indoctrinated to believe in a cause that the original progenitors have condemned are victims of a conspiracy by those who are not willing to lead from the front but have hidden in safe and saner havens.

If the destruction and killings continue unabated, and worse still without a definite direction for the agitation, then the new nation called Biafra would have turned a tool of acquisition of wealth for the leaders who definitely would surrender and sue for peace when they have had their fill with stupendous wealth and undue fame!

By the time the new nation is birthed, those who would have belonged to her would have all been killed except for the virtual warlords whose only battleground is the social media with which they have used to send the foot soldiers to their early Graves.

If and when Biafra comes, will there ever even be any shouts of joy as families would count their losses?

In the end, it would be a nation against itself.

EXPOSED: IGP’s Team In Abuja Take N1m Bribe From S’East Youths Framed For Being ESN Members For Their Freedom |RN

Acting IGP, Usman Alkali Baba

The victims were raided in the South-East and brought to detention at the IGP’S IRT office in Abuja.
The Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has been collecting at least an N1million bribes as bail before releasing South-East youths and artisans raided as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra’s Eastern Security Network.

SaharaReporters learnt from the families of the victims, who did not want their names in print to avoid police victimisation, that they paid the huge sums through their nose before securing the release of their relations.

Nigeria Security Agencies Plotting To Assassinate Igbo Personalities And Blame It On ESN —Nnamdi Kanu Alleges |RN

SaharaReporters gathered that the victims were raided in the South-East and brought to detention at the IGP’S IRT office in Abuja.

“The Investigating Police Officer at the IRT’s team holding them is one Inspector Daniel. They were five in number taken to the IRT office, formerly called Abattoir.

“We paid about N1million to secure (one of the victims). He was released in June by the police in Abuja,” a family member said.

“Another victim, Daberechi Alozie, was freed on Friday night. His guardian, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Imo State civil service, secured his release. He paid a huge sum too,” a source added.

SaharaReporters learnt that the fourth victim, Chinonso John, a barber, was also released after the police in Abuja collected N1.5million.

Nigerian Army Lied, Man Arrested, Awurum Eze, Not ESN Commander —Nnamdi Kanu |The Republican News

A family source said, “Our elder brother, Emma, went to Abuja and met the IPO last week to bargain with the IPO. He was told to go and look for N1.5million and after pleading, the IPO reduced it to N1.3million. The guy pleaded again to pay N1million but the IPO refused.

“So he came back to look for the money, including borrowing. He met with the IPO on Thursday, On Friday morning, the money was withdrawn in cash. It has been taken to the IPO.”

SaharaReporters learnt that another victim at the police IRT was Chukwudi Okoro, a Shuttle Bus owner whose wife is heavily pregnant.

“By the end of today, he is likely to be left there as the only person remaining among the five because he can’t afford the N1million bribe. I just got information that the IPO has collected truly collected N1million and released Chinonso John. Unfortunately, there are many IPOs at the police team milking the innocent victims. They have turned them to cash cows. The police authorities know very well about this mess,” the source added.

SaharaReporters had on June 14 reported that one Casmir Ibegbulem, an oil worker who was arrested and detained, also was taken to Abuja and N10million was demanded as his bail.

Ibegbulem, who was labelled and paraded as an ESN member, had done an audio confession, saying he had returned to Imo State for the burial of his in-law, which was to take place on May 28 but was raided in Owerri on May 25 when he came to pick up some personal items needed for the burial.

He had been whisked away to Abuja and later paid N1.5million before his release from custody. (Sahara Reporters)

Hope Uzodinma Regrets Inviting Military To Imo —Top Aide |The Republican News

Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma

With the south east of Nigeria slowly slipping away from the grips of the Nigeria security forces and agents, the many communities within the south east states find themselves grappling against the ever-forceful push of the Nigerian security agents/forces in their effort to recapture the authority in the region. In the process, youths are caught in the web of arrests and murder by angry police officers who had been given orders to shoot at sight – and “to go their homes, find them and kill them”.

As observed, the deadly activities of the federal police/military force are most evident in Imo State where the State Governor, Mr. Hope Uzodinma had invited the federal military and had boastfully told the nation while standing at the entrance to the Presidential Villa that he had invited the military to Imo State to help rid the state of miscreants and Biafra agitators. He made the proclamation while existing from the President’s office where he had gone for a meeting with the President.

So ensued the killings. Amidst outcries by mothers whose sons and daughters had been abducted by the federal agents, the embattled governor remained resolute and determined to fish out the agitators out of the State. He remained adamant – claiming to be winning the battle against the people of Imo State.

But in talking to a top aide to the Governor who is considered close to Governor, it was made clear, the Governor is shaken up. He has come to regret his actions of inviting the federal might against “his” people. But “he is in a bind” too much innocent blood has been wasted. “The red line has been crossed”.

The aide indicated the Governor never envisaged a situation where the federal military and police would use the towns and villages of Imo State as firing grounds – without regards to human rights violations. “He misread the situation from the onset. He saw it as a politically motivated crisis stemming from the manner he emerged as Governor through the Supreme Courts. He believed the Biafran agitators were working with his political enemies, so he sought federal cover from his friends in Abuja, to counter what attacks that may come.”

Unfortunate for the embattled Governor, his actions backfired on him. In his quest to impress his Northern friends in Abuja who had played key roles in his Supreme Court, he misfired. The embattled Governor was determined to display his disdain for Biafra agitators to his friends in Abuja – he pledged to rid his state of all Biafra agitators. He took the decision without thinking through the possible consequences.

“Too late to call for withdrawal” because the red line has been crossed and both sides must continue to fight. Even though “he wants the noise to end”, there are no openings allowing him to end it. Desperately, he wants to initiate dialogue with the Biafra agitators but his northern friends in Abuja appear not willing.

“So, the killings continue”.

Meanwhile, in a related development, Uzodinma’s inability to exhibit impressionable governance since taking over the mantle has worsened his problems with the people of Imo State. His inability to pay worker’s salaries has not impressed the people of Imo State. The nonexistent of bulk or significant projects in the State has not helped to alleviate or dissipate the hatred for the Uzodinma administration.

Our source within the administration reveal that there exists dire financial crunch that goes beyond the monthly allocations from the federated accounts. “Uzodinma is still settling his Abuja friends who helped him win at the Supreme Courts. And, he is using the state resources to do so.”

The source pointed to a multi-billion contract awarded to the former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress [APC], Adamu Aliyu Oshiomole – for the dualization of MCC road from Weatheral junction to Uratta worth an estimated N3.4billion. As expected, the contract has yet to be executed but 70% of the contract sum has been released.

In addition, the personal assistant to Oshiomole while he served as the APC chairman, a fellow by the name – Simon Ebegbulam – was given the position of Commissioner in the Uzodinma administration – as part of the pay back for helping him win the Supreme Court case.

The numerous visits by the recently gun down APC chieftain [Gulak] to the State has been deemed suspicious by those knowledgeable of the goings on in the State. Gulak had been making frequent low-profile visits to the State to see the embattled Governor – of which no known projects or contracts were allocated to Gulak. His reasons for the frequent visits remain unexplained.

It is recalled Gulak was the one who conducted the highly controversial APC gubernatorial primary that gave rise to Uzodinma as the winner of the primary. At the conclusion of the primary, Gulak claimed to have escaped the State for fear his life was in danger. He claimed he ran away from Imo State because some personalities were after his life owing to the outcome of the APC primary. He never said who the personalities were.

Nigerian Army Lied, Man Arrested, Awurum Eze, Not ESN Commander —Nnamdi Kanu |The Republican News

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday reacted to the arrest of Eastern Security Network, ESN, Deputy Commander.

Kanu said the man arrested by the Nigerian Army was too old to be recruited into the ESN.

The Nigerian Army had claimed it arrested the ESN Deputy Commander, Awurum Eze in Aba, Abia State.

Awurum’s arrest was disclosed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, on Wednesday night.

The IPOB leader, however, described reports of the alleged arrest by the Nigerian Army as false.

Kanu in a statement by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, said Awurum was handed over to the Nigerian forces as an ESN Commander after a misunderstanding with a traditional ruler.

“The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, read with utter amusement, media reports of claims by the Nigeria Army that it arrested Ikonso’s Second in Command in Aba. This is a blatant lie and cheap propaganda to lay false claims to imaginary military prowess.

“The said man is not an operative of ESN. Such a man is too old to be recruited into ESN, let alone be Ikonso’s Second in Command.

“That you ambushed Ikonso with the help of some traitors did not mean you have crushed ESN. Stop claiming what you have not done in your bid to win public accolades. If you arrest or kill Ikonso’s second in Command we will not hesitate to admit it just the same way we did not deny the murder of Ikonso. We are not like Nigeria that lives in propaganda; we tell the truth always. So, stop harassing innocent Biafrans in the name of a manhunt for ESN personnel.

“Our background check revealed that the said man had issues with his traditional ruler who gave his contact to the security agents alleging that he belongs to ESN. He is not our own.

“We are assuring them that whatever they do they cannot win ESN in this fight for freedom. The secret killing and abduction can never make IPOB change our resolve towards restoring Biafra as an independent nation.

“Again, we wish to remind Biafrans and the world, of a grand plot by the Nigeria security agencies to reduce the Biafra population through the ongoing secret abductions and killing of innocent Biafrans after tagging them IPOB and ESN members.

“This wicked plot which started in Imo State is now gaining momentum across the entire Biafra land through the collaboration of some traitors in the mould of Supreme Court administrator of Imo State Hope Uzodinma and his likes. Biafrans of all age brackets are now at the mercy of the double-faced Nigeria security agents as all they need to arrest and kill them off is to brand them ESN operative or sponsor.”

IPOB Picks New Commander For Eastern Security Network After Murder Of Ikonso, Mocks Nigerian Army |RN

■ IPOB Secretary also denied ESN’s involvement in Saturday’s attack on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s residence.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Sunday says the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the military wing of the group, has got a new commander.

This is coming barely 24 hours after men of the Nigeria Police Force and their counterparts from the Nigerian Army and State Security Service (SSS) in a joint operation stormed the operational headquarters of ESN in Awomama Village, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo state, killing Commander Ikonso and other members of the group.

The group however declined to make his name public.

Speaking on Sunday Politics, a Channels Television programme, IPOB Secretary, Emma Powerful also denied ESN’s involvement in Saturday’s attack on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s residence.

“ESN are not the ones that attacked Uzodinma’s house. They cannot come for an operation and tell you they are ESN,” he said.

When asked to explain the group’s operational activities, he said, “We pursue Fulani herdsmen from the region.”

Speaking on the new instituted security outfit by the South East governors, ‘Ebubeagu’, Powerful said, “They are a ghost security outfit. There is no group like Ebubeagu.”

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the group, had in December 2020 launched ESN to protect the people of South-East and South-South regions from terrorists and bandits allegedly trooping in from the North.

The IPOB leader described the outfit as a replica of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun, earlier launched by the South-West governors to curb insecurity in the region.

“The sole aim and objective of this newly formed security outfit known as Eastern Security Network are to halt every criminal activity and the terrorist attack on Biafraland,” Kanu had said.

“This outfit, which is a vigilante group like the Amotekun in the South-West and the Miyetti Allah security outfit, will ensure the safety of our forests and farmland, which terrorists have converted into slaughter grounds and raping fields.” (SaharaReporters)
