INEC Lied, We Transmitted Results To Their Servers – Presiding Officers Claim |RN

By Politics Times

INEC

Some presiding officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said they transmitted official results from their polling units to the servers of the electoral body.

Their claims contradict the position of the commission which earlier claimed it did not transmit the result of this year’s presidential election electronically.

Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who lost the presidential election to President Muhammadu Buhari, had petitioned the Presidential Election Tribunal over the outcome of the exercise.

Mr Abubakar, a former vice president said results from the servers of INEC clearly showed he won the election with 18,356,732 votes against Buhari’s 16,741,430 votes but INEC overturned his victory by claiming the president got 15,191,847 votes as against the  11,262,978 votes attributed to him.

But distancing itself from the claims of the former vice president, the electoral body denied it collated or transmitted results of the election to its servers online.

However, the submission of some presiding officers that conducted the election does not tally with the position of INEC.

They claimed that they were personally trained by the commission on how to transmit the result of the election to the commission’s servers.

This was made known in the petition filed by Atiku and his party through the respective Witness Statement of Oath they made.

According to News Telegraph, one of the PO from Borno State claimed to have received training on how to discharge his duties on the day of the exercise.

“I was employed as an ad hoc staff and trained for three days by the 1st Respondent at the Government College, Maiduguri, Bomo State to serve as a Presiding Officer (PO) at Waliri Polling Unit with Code 003, of Shehun Barna Ward, Bomo State on the 23rd February, 2019 Presidential and National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives) elections,” the witness said.

“The training covered the duties of all 1st Respondent’s ad-hoc staff at the polling units and the procedure for the conduct of election which includes accreditation, verification, authentication, collation and transmission of results as well as the use of Smart Card Reader (SCR), amongst others.

“At the 1st Respondent training, we were specifically instructed that the use of the Smart Card Reader for accreditation, verification, authentication, collation and transmission of results is mandatory and that any election conducted without the use of the Smart Card Reader would be invalid.

“I took part in the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives) elections of 23rd February, 2019 where I served as the Presiding Officer (PO) and I ensured the use of the Smart Card Reader for accreditation, verification, authentication, collation and transmission of votes in my polling unit.

“At the end of voting, the information on the Smart Card Reader with the results inclusive, were collated by me in the presence of the party agents and other ad-hoc staff of the 1st Respondent after which my Assistant Presiding Officer (AP0-1) transmitted the result electronically in my presence to the 1st Respondent’s server, using the Smart Card Reader (SCR) and the code provided by the 1st Respondent.”

Furthermore, in the witness statements of the Presiding Officer of Daza Primary School Code 001,Daze Marte Ward of Borno State, who was coded as BU; the Presiding Officer of Mustapha Ali Bama, Code 036, Mafoni MCC Ward, who was coded IM; the Presiding Officer of Binkalion Code 003, Maisandari Damaturu ward Yobe, coded as AB and APO of Kafan Sarki Code 007, Yabir-Gujba of Yobe state, coded as AW; they all admitted that the results of the Presidential election were transmitted electronically to INEC’s server.  (Politicstimes)

I Am Nigerian By Birth, Says Atiku With Proofs |The Republican News

PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar

by Adioolayi

The Peoples Democratic Party’ s candidate in the February 23 presidential election , Alhaji Atiku Abubakar , has denied the All Progressives Congress’ allegation that he is not eligible to contest because he was not born in Nigeria .
Atiku stated this in a response to the APC’s reply to the petition he and his party jointly filed before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

He said he was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa State, therefore he was a Nigerian.
The APC had alleged in its response that as of November 25, 1946, when Atiku was born , Jada, was part of Northern Cameroon .

But Atiku insisted that he was a Nigerian citizen, adding that his parents were also Nigerians by birth.
He said while his father, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir , hailed from Wumo in the present day Sokoto State, his mother, Aisha Kande, hailed from Dutse, now Jigawa State.
Atiku and the PDP said, “Contrary to the allegations contained in paragraphs 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 and 6 of the 3rd respondent’s ( APC’s) reply, the petitioners state that the 1st petitioner ( Atiku ) is a citizen of Nigeria by birth and thus qualified to vote and be voted for and returned in the election to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, held on Saturday February 23, 2019 going by the relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

“The 1st petitioner was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa State, by Nigerian parents and he is, therefore, a citizen of Nigeria by birth.

“The 1st petitioner’s father, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir, was a Nigerian by birth who hailed from Wumo in the present day Sokoto State, while the mother, Aisha Kande , was also a Nigerian who hailed from Dutse in the present day Jigawa State.

“The parents of the 1st petitioner are both Fulani, a community/tribe indigenous to Nigeria .
“The birth of the 1st petitioner in Jada, in the present-day Adamawa State of Nigeria, was occasioned by the movement of his paternal grandfather called Atiku, who was an itinerant trader, from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State to Jada in company of his friend , Ardo Usman.

“That in Jada, Atiku, the grandfather of the 1st petitioner, gave birth to Garba who in turn gave birth to the 1st petitioner and named him after his father, Atiku .

“The 1st petitioner’s mother, Aisha Kande, was the grand daughter of Inuwa Dutse who came to Jada as an itinerant trader too from Dutse in the present-day Jigawa State.
All averments concerning Germany, British Cameroons , League of Nations and Plebiscite are false and misleading in relation to the 1st petitioner and therefore completely irrelevant more so that the 1st petitioner is a Nigerian by birth within the contemplation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
“The averments in the aforesaid paragraphs are indeed fabricated, contrived, made in bad faith and designed to embarrass the 1st petitioner. ”

The Independent National Electoral Commission had on February 27, 2019, declared that the All Progressives Congress alongside its candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, won the February 23 election with 15,191, 847 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku, whom it said polled 11,262,978 votes.

But the petitioners stated that “from the data in the 1st respondent’s ( INEC’s) server … the true, actual and correct results” from “state-to -state computation” showed that Atiku polled a total of 18,356,732 votes defeat Buhari whom they said scored 16,741,430 votes.
INEC had in its response to the petition distanced itself from the “server results.”

The commission, through its lead counsel, Yunus Usman ( SAN ) , had said the results of the poll were never transmitted or collated electronically.
It added that it kept no such server where such electronically transmitted results could have been obtained.

In their reply to the APC’s reply, Atiku and the PDP insisted that they truly got authentic results of the February 23 election from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s server.
They said, “In reaction to paragraph 29 of the 3rd respondent’s reply, the petitioners aver that the data and scores in the 1st respondent’s server were as transmitted by the 1st respondent’s officials and those scores are valid, and legitimate.

“The conduct of elections and declarations of results by the 1st respondent is the subject of the present petition.
“Contrary to paragraphs 31 and 34 of the 3rd respondent’s reply, the petitioners contend that the figures and scores in paragraph 22 of the petition are neither false nor contrived or concocted by the petitioners .

“Indeed, the adhoc staff and officials of the 1st respondent in obedience to the training/instruction by the 1st respondent (INEC) transmitted the scores they got from the polling units to the 1st respondent’s server.” (Punch)

Buhari Plans To Kill Atiku The Way Abiola Was Eliminated — Timi Frank|The Republican News

Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku Abubakar

In a press release, the former national deputy publicity secretary of APC, Mr Timi Frank has revealed a shocking details of a secret desperate plan to kill Atiku like Abiola was killed while in detention.

Find the press statement is below:

Press Statement
11/4/19

Frank Accuses Buhari, APC of Plan to Give Atiku, Abiola’s Treatment

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the APC of plotting to arrest former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on trumped up charges of treasonable felony.

Frank in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, said that according to authoritative sources in the Villa, how to kill Atiku – who is currently challenging the victory of General Buhari in the last elections – has been the subject of series of hushed-up security meetings by the Aso Rock Cabal in the past few weeks.

He disclosed that the sinister plot against Atiku has commenced with the planting and spreading of fake news by members of the cabal purporting that Atiku has paid lobbyist in the United States of America the sum of $30,000 to lobby the U.S. Congress not to recognise the fraudulent re-election of Buhari for a second term.

He said that the grand plot is to arrest Atiku on arrival from his vacation abroad and clamp him into jail for alleged treason.

He stated that “as part of the overall design to liquidate the former Vice President, the Buhari Media Organization (BMO) has already called on the nation’s security agencies to “probe Atiku” – a euphemism for arrest and kangaroo trial – for allegedly seeking the ‘Venezuelan option’ by lobbying the U.S. Congress not to recognize the re-election of General Buhari.”

He said that after the planned arrest and detention of Atiku, the Presidential Candidate of the PDP would suddenly be pronounced dead in prison just like the winner of the June 12 Presidential Election, Chief Moshood Abiola, who died in questionable circumstances in prison while seeking to reclaim his stolen mandate during the General Sani Abacha’s Junta.

He disclosed that the sole aim of wanting Atiku out of the way at all cost is borne out of desperation, “the cabal having realized that Buhari’s purported victory during the last presidential election cannot withstand forensic judicial scrutiny, which the former Vice President is now poised to unravel before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.”

He disclosed that information available to him further show that the presidency has ordered all APC state governors to pull down all Atiku’s Billboards in their states and in their place erect others with inciting and incendiary messages just like they have started to execute with the “PUKKA Posters” bearing the name and photograph of Atiku now placed at strategic positions at the Central Business District in Abuja.

The Bayelsa-born political activist however warned Buhari and his evil plotters to desist from acts capable of eclipsing democracy in the country and with untold consequences for all Nigerians.

He stated that any attempt to frustrate and foreclose the judgement of the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal by arresting Atiku and sending him to jail, preparatory to his murder will ignite the anger of Nigerians and bring cataclysmic tragedies never before witnessed in the history of the country.

He called on patriotic Nigerians and members of the international community, especially the General Abdulsalami Abubakar’s Peace Committee and the United States and United Kingdom respectively not to gloss over events of monumental proportions currently being incubated by General Buhari and his men, in the interest of peace and democratic sustainability in the country.

Comrade Timi Frank
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC

Buhari Will Tackle Corruption ‘Frontally’ In His Second Term – Lai Mohammed

Lai-Mohammed

Minister Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has assured the international community that President Muhammadu Buhari’s new administration will be more determined in the fight against corruption.

Mr Mohammed, who gave the assurance in Washington D.C., in an interview with the Voice of America (VOA), said the president will not compromise his anti-corruption programmes and policies.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the minister is in Washington to engage international media and think tank, promote and reiterate the successes of President Buhari’s administration.

In the interview anchored in English by Aliyu Mustapha of the VOA Hausa service, the minister said that the anti-corruption fight would be frontal in the agenda of the government “because corruption is one of the major causes of poverty and underdevelopment in the country.”

He recalled a saying by President Buhari that “if we do not kill corruption, corruption will kill us’ and reiterated the government’s commitment to the fight.

“The president is committed to the fight against corruption and the administration will continue with it.

“For example, the Treasury Single Account has instituted accountability in government‘s earnings and spendings and the whistleblower policy has led to the recovery of billions of naira.

“It takes more than four years to clean a country endemic in corruption. However, it is on record that this administration has driven corruption under the carpet in four years.

“In the next four years, therefore, the government will consolidate on the achievements recorded particularly in the fight against corruption,” he said.

Pervasive Insecurity

Speaking on insecurity, the minister said that the administration would apply multi-dimensional approach besides deployment of forces.

He said the government was not unaware of other remote causes of the crises in the affected areas including economic and social reasons, non-inclusiveness, lack of infrastructure and job opportunities.

The minister noted that the administration had performed well in addressing insecurity and the country is safer than it was in 2015.

Specifically, he said the government had successfully secured the entire territory of the country from the Boko Haram while the farmers/herdsmen clash in Benue had been curtailed.

Mr Mohammed said the fight against banditry, killings and banditry in Zamfara and Kaduna has “been put under control” in the last two weeks because of the synergy among the security forces.

He assured that the government will continue to strengthen partnership on the regional and international levels in addressing the challenges.

The minister also said that the administration has made progress in economic recovery with deliberate programmers of diversifying the economy through agriculture and other sectors, as well as developing infrastructure.

Well deserved electoral victory

Speaking on the general elections, the minister said President Buhari’s victory was well deserved and represented “the triumph of the ordinary Nigerians over the elite”.

He said having delivered on his electoral promises, the people voted for Mr Buhari and he won the elections fairly and squarely, with about four million votes.

He also said with the wide margin of winning, the government did not envisage “any attempt to delegitimise the will of the people”.

Mr Buhari’s main challenger at the polls, Atiku Abubakar, of the Peoples Democratic Party is already in court seeking to upturn the outcome of the elections.

‘I’ll Drop Agitation For Biafra If DNA Test Confirms Aso Rock Occupant Is Buhari’ —Nnamdi Kanu

The IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu tells Atiku what to do to prove case against Buhari.

As the controversy over the indigenship of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar rages on, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has vowed to drop the agitation for Biafra restoration should the occupant of Aso Rock submit self to DNA test, and the result proves that he is “Buhari”.

Kanu who threw the challenge during his latest live broadcast on Radio Biafra Sunday night, also advised Atiku to demand that Buhari should submit himself for DNA test to prove his originality.

The IPOB leader volunteered to offer free legal advice to Atiku and to provide him with more facts on the “mystery” surrounding the occupant of Aso Rock.

His words :”It will be very foolish of PDP not to challenge this brazen insult against Atiku by insisting on a DNA test for Jubril. Should Jubril submit himself to a DNA test and confirms he is Buhari, I will drop the agitation for Biafra. That is how certain I am.”

Speaking further, Kanu argued that for the All Progressive Congress, APC, to assert that Atiku was not a Nigerian citizen based on his (Kanu’s) earlier revelation on Radio Biafra meant that even APC had accepted his narratives.

He said :”The headline ‘Atiku Is Not A Nigerian, APC Tells Tribunal’, is a vindication that everything I say on Radio Biafra is the truth. It may appear outlandish and unbelievable at first, but eventually history always vindicate me. It is now over the Atiku’s team to unleash what they have against Jubril.

“I will offer free legal advice to Atiku live on air in the hope that they will use it because it is obvious Atiku won the election and APC are deploying all instruments of coercion at the disposal of the Nigerian state to deny him his mandate.

” Between Atiku and the man occupying Aso Rock, only Atiku is a Nigerian, the other is Sudanese.

“Buhari died in 2017 and should not be contesting any election in 2019. There was a gentleman’s agreement amongst Fulani cabals of which Atiku is privy to, that the death of Buhari should not be made public lest IPOB take full advantage of it to break Biafra away from Nigeria.

” Atiku played along believing that Jubril and APC won’t put up much resistance when it comes to presidential elections. He was wrong. The cabals have now refused to give up power. Jubril is their poster boy.

” APC is counting on the fact that Atiku won’t fight dirty in public because that means authenticating the claims of IPOB and confirming what world leaders already know, that Buhari is dead. The only people who have refused to believe it are Nigerians.

“The only option left for Atiku is to remind the tribunal that he is an authentic Nigerian citizen whereas Jubril is not. No part of Sudan ever joined Nigeria as a result of referendum, at least not yet.

“Atiku should demand for a DNA test result to ascertain if Jubril is Buhari or not. Once he lays this card on the table, the cabal will have no choice than to return his stolen mandate.
“Out of the two contestants, one is a Nigerian by choice not birth but the other is neither a Nigeria by birth nor by choice.

“Atiku became a Nigerian by referendum at the age of 15 but Jubril in his mid 50’s is not a Nigerian, does not hold Nigerian citizenship and is from Sudan.

“What Kyari and his gang have done is worse than a military coup. Their role in inflicting hardship on long suffering people of Nigeria and by extension, Biafrans, is unpardonable.
“They should be tried for high crimes and misdemeanours. They are supposed to be stoned according to Sharia Law.
“Another issue which Atiku’s legal team should home in on is the issue of WAEC certificate. Like a place of birth, WAEC certificate is a cardinal requirement as stipulated in the constitution.
“The headline “INEC says they are satisfied with Buhari’s certificate” is utter nonsense because INEC is not an examination body. The only authority capable of authenticating Jubril/Buhari’s certificate is WAEC and they are still in existence.
“Is INEC WAEC? The answer is a capital NO. Only WAEC can respond to the issue of WAEC result not INEC.
“The examination body is there, still existing. If PDP bigwigs have any brain, they will subpoena WAEC boss to testify under oath.
“That will send Jubril sculling back to Khartoum Sudan. But PDP leaders are cowards without the spine to fight a tyrannical impostor. To finish APC is easy but PDP lacks the balls.
“Should WAEC boss lie under oath, he or she will be tried for perjury. This is elementary law. Should they forge a result on a paper that has been aged artificially, there is carbon dating technology that will tell us when the paper was made.
“This is a fool proof process. Buhari before his death had no certificate, Jubril has no certificate and the section 131 (4) of the Nigerian constitution is quite explicit on this, no WAEC certificate no presidency. What is Atiku and his team waiting for?
“The issue of WAEC result can be dealt with now at this tribunal, not in a Nigerian court of law with an APC corrupt judge. If they won’t allow WAEC boss to be called as a witness, get a sworn testimony under oath and Jubril will be a goner.
” Kyari and his cohorts who brought in Jubril to replace Buhari failed to reckon with the fact that no two individuals, even so-called identical twins, are exactly the same in every way. “

Atiku Responds To APC’s Claim Over His Nationality, Calls It Idiotic |The Republican News

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2019 election, has dismissed the petition by the All Progressives Congress (APC) contesting his citizenship as “idiotic”.

The former vice-president, who spoke through his media aide, Paul Ibe, told Saturday Sun, that it was an insult to Nigerians and the office of Vice President which he occupied for eight years, for the APC to question his nationality.

“That is idiotic. It is idiotic. And it is ridiculous. Atiku Abubakar is a former Vice President of Nigeria.

“Are they telling us that a former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not a Nigerian? That is disrespectful to Nigerians and for the office he has held, which other people will hold and will continue to hold.

“Everything must not be on the alter of politics,” Ibe said.

BREAKING: Appeal Court Grants PDP, Atiku Permission To Serve Petition On Buhari via APC

Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Wednesday granted permission to the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to serve their petition challenging the outcome of the February 23, 2019 election, on President Muhammadu Buhari through substituted means.

A three-man bench which sat in a “pre-hearing session” of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, granted the request contained in the petitioners’ ex parte application that Buhari, who is the second respondent to the petition, be served through any senior official or an officer of the APC at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Granting the ex parte application, Justice Abdu Aboki, who led the panel and delivered the lead ruling, said “it is in the interest of justice” to grant the prayers in the petitioners’ application.

The petitioners’ lead counsel, Chief Chris Uche (SAN), had earlier moved the application.

The petitioners had on March 18, 2019, filed their case to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Buhari and his party, the APC, as the winner of the election.

The INEC, Buhari and the APC are the first to the third respondents respectively. (Punch)

Atiku, PDP Challenge Buhari’s Victory, Demand Inspection Of Election Materials |RN

• Party leaders in protest march to INEC headquarter

Godwin Tsa and Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Presidential Election Tribunal to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to surrender materials used for the February 23 presidential election for inspection.

The request is contained in a motion ex-parte filed yesterday by the opposition party and its candidate dated March 4, 2019.

In the suit,  Atiku and the PDP have asked the tribunal to grant them  leave to inspect the Voters Register, the Smart Card Reader machines, ballot papers and other vital documents used in the conduct of the poll.

In addition, they urged the tribunal to compel the INEC to allow their agents scan and make photocopies of vital documents used in the conduct of the election, for the purpose of establishing alleged irregularities.

Counsel to the applicants, Chief Chris Uche (SAN) disclosed that the reliefs sought against INEC were for the purpose of filing and maintaining an election petition they intend to lodge against the outcome of the 2019 presidential election.

Filed in support of the motion ex-parte is a 12-paragraph affidavit deposed to by one Col. Austin Akobundu (retd), director, Contact and Mobilization of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council.

No date has been fixed for hearing of the motion, which has INEC, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as first to third respondents, respectively.

According to the result of the disputed presidential polls released by INEC, Atiku and his political platform came second behind President Buhari of APC.

Atiku rejected the outcome  and vowed to challenge it in court.

He calimed the election was fraught with manifest irregularities adding that  results collated by agents at various polling units across the federation, was at variance with what was eventually declared by INEC, in favour of President Buhari.

Uche who explained to Daily Sun that the procedure is a condition precedent for the filling of an election petition, assured that the main petition would be filed at the tribunal this week.

Meanwhile, leaders and supporters of the main opposition party, yesterday, besieged the headquarters of INEC to protest alleged violations of the Electoral Act during elections.

The protesting PDP leaders and supporters were led by the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus, who accused INEC of conniving with the APC to thwart the will of Nigerians.  He said the electoral body, by its actions, was piling up gun powder in the country, noting that it will be disastrous when it explodes.

According to the party chairman, INEC’s conduct in the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections fell short of expectations and cannot stand any scrutiny.

In a protest letter addressed to Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the PDP leader contended that the selective use of the Smart Card Readers during the election was a violation of the electoral guidelines.

He claimed that in the run-up to the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections, this weekend, the opposition has “credible intelligence” that some INEC officials were allegedly working with APC to manipulate the polls in  Delta, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, Rivers, Kwara and Kaduna states.

“The mood in the country shows clearly that INEC declared the wrong person winner in the presidential election and I urge you to watch your action because history is recording all you do for posterity

“The APC is deploying military operatives to help some of your (INEC) black legs manipulate Saturday’s elections in some states particularly Kaduna, Delta, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Kwara but Nigerians in those states have mobilised to defend their votes,” Secondus stated.

The letter entitled: “Cases of infractions and deliberate violations of the Electoral law and guidelines” read in part:

“The unconstitutional deployment of the armed forces especially soldiers and police for the illegitimate purposes to harassing, intimidating, suppressing of leaders of the PDP and suppression of voters in PDP strongholds across the country which are very well known to you. The use of these same security agents by the government to harass and intimidate Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and certain INEC’s National Commissioners for the sake of forcing them to declare votes for the APC’s candidates throughout the country have been officially or otherwise brought to your knowledge by the affected officers who even threatened to resign from their positions, yet you have decided to keep mute over it in a way portraying outright conspiracy and collusion of yourself and the commission with the APC government perpetrators.

“We also want to bring to your knowledge that most of the collation centres in the country were cordoned off by officers and men of the armed forces who chased away accredited agents and or candidates of our party, the PDP, from such centers while the results of the elections from the units were being manipulated, mutilated and altered to suite the dictates and criminal desires of the APC-led government. These results that were tampered with were accepted by you and your commission and announced as results of the elections.

“In places like Lagos, Rivers, Nassarawa, Abia, Benue, Plateau, Ondo, Osun states et al, results of duly conducted elections were illegally canceled, especially in the PDP dominated areas to reduce the margin of victory in those states in favour of APC candidates. Is it not surprising to you that Lagos State with over six million voters can only return less than one million votes? This was the case in virtually all PDP dominated states where voters’ suppression was deployed as a major strategy by you and the APC government in active collaboration of some of your unscrupulous RECs and staffers.”

INEC National Commissioner (Legal), May Agbamuche-Mbu,  who received the protesters on behalf of the INEC chairman, assured that the commission intended to make the March 9 governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections free and fair.

“This country belongs to all of us and we must protect it with all our might. I believe that on Saturday, the elections will go on very well.  Our mantra in this election is that we want peace in our country. I supervised Rivers and Bayelsa states;  so, I know what it means to invest in that area, and the people of Rivers and Akwa Ibom know what they want,” she stated.    (The Sun)

Presidential Poll Results: Kukah, Abdulsalami Meet Atiku, Obi, Others |RN

                                                        Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar

Olusola Fabiyi and Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja

A former military Head of State, Gen. Abdusalami Aboubakar (retd.); the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, and other members of the National Peace Committee met with the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja on Thursday night.

Others at the meeting included Cardinal John Onaiyekan and Rev. Fr Atta Barkindo of the NPC Secretariat.

Atiku’s running mate, Mr Peter Obi; President of the Senate, who was also the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council of the party,  Dr Bukola Saraki; PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; Speaker,House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and other PDP leaders also attended the meeting.

The meeting, it was learnt, was convened following Atiku’s decision to go to court to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory.

The meeting, which, started around 6pm, lasted for about one and half hours.

A source, who was at the meeting, told one of our correspondents that the committee asked for the grievances of Atiku and his team over the outcome of the election, which was won by Buhari of the All Progressives Congress.

The Atiku group was said to have narrated alleged intimidation of its supporters in some states and alleged inflation of votes in favour of President Buhari in some states.

The PDP was also said to have told the Abdusalami panel that the party was in possession of documentary evidence to show that the election was characterised with irregularities that were too weighty to ignore.

The source said, “The committee came to meet with us and asked us how we felt about the outcome of the election. We explained our disappointment to the committee and they agreed with us on some of the issues we raised.

“The committee members pleaded with us to accept the outcome and probably forget the issue of going to court and all that.

“But we let them know the danger of ignoring such calamity as it would send dangerous signal to both the international community and future generations in the country.

“We have to lay a good example that we cannot build on nothing. It will be dangerous to forget the massive rigging and dangerous things that happened in many parts of the country.”

The leadership of the PDP is expected to address a press conference on the meeting on Friday (today).

The PDP team and Atiku, it was learnt, demanded that the military should not be  deployed in subsequent elections, while INEC should open back-end servers to all participating parties.

They also called for the release of all politicians allegedly detained illegally by the Federal Government and the unfreezing of accounts of those whose accounts were blocked as part of the government’s clampdown on the opposition.

They also demanded that accreditation must come before voting in the March 9 elections.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the Abdusalami panel was on its way to meet with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as of the time of filing this report last night.

The meeting, it was learnt, was aimed at encouraging politicians to tone down the war of words between the APC and the PDP following the announcement of the result of the Presidential election.

While Atiku has rejected the result describing it as a sham, the APC, most especially its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole,  has been lambasting Atiku, describing him as a sore loser.

The peace committee, it was learnt, was asking both parties to abide by the spirit and the letter of the peace pact they signed before the elections.   (Punch)
