MASSOB/BIM: Why We Cancelled Sit-At-Home To Mark Biafran Day

 By Philip Nwosu

massob

The Movement for the Actualisations of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafran Independent Movement (BIM) has cancelled the sit at home order earlier suggested to mark the independent anniversary of Biafra.

MASSOB/BIM, in joint press conference in Lagos said on May 30, 2017, people of Igbo nationality in Lagos and other parts of  world will celebrate Biafra independence, not by sitting at home as earlier scheduled, adding that, “on that day, everybody should come out and celebrate, we are not mourning, we are celebrating.”

The leader of MASSOB/BIM in Lagos, Mr. Chukwuma Eyisi urged Biafrans to come out on May 22 to celebrate the independence of Biafra which they said was achieved on May 30, 1967, adding that the authority to recognise Biafra does not belong to Nigeria, “it is an international matter.”

He said on the days of the celebration,  the group will continue to abide by its principle of non-violence, explaining also that Biafra will celebrate its independence like any other sovereign state in the world. The group said like the Palestinian Liberation Orgainsation, MASSOB had achieved  recognition by observers at the United Nations, adding that structures that make Biafra a state were already established within the organsation.

MASSOB/BIM)led by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has earlier cancelled it planned sit at home order slated for May 30, explaining that it  would rather hold football matches in major cities across the south east.

The movement has in place of sit-at-home protest on May 30 planned  week-long beginning from  from May 22 and ends on May 30.

Eyisi who is also the zonal leader of MASSOB/BIM in Lagos said: “MASSOB-BIM wants to celebrate Biafra on May 22. It is our day, a day that Uwazuruike, our leader hoisted Biafran flag on May 22, 2000 and we want to celebrate it. It is the day we have mapped out every year to thank God for keeping us alive in the last 17 years when the renewed struggle for the emancipation of Biafra was started by our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike”.

They stated that it was on May 22, 1999 that their leader, Chief Uwazuruike hoisted Biafra flag in Aba to signal the group’s loss of interest to be part of Nigeria any more.

The Lagos MASSOB-BIM leaders  stressed that the peaceful and non-violent approach of the group in its struggle have made them to remain focused and undaunted, adding that MASSOB was not part of any planned May 30 sit-at-home protest.  (The Sun)

Ohanaeze Shocked By Attack On IPOB Women At Abiriba, Slams The Army

IPOB-Female-Members

IPOB women members

In a very clear strong message ever coming from the apex organisation of the Igbo people, it condemns in the strongest terms the interruption of peaceful meeting of IPOB women in Abiriba, Abia state.
Ohanaeze in its strongest condemnation ever, expressed outrage and disgust of how the Nigerian army officers treated the IPOB women during their peaceful meeting in Abia.
Here is the press release:
PRESS RELEASE

ATTACK OF UNARMED IPOB WOMEN AT ABIRIBA, IN ABIA STATE. OHANAEZE NDIGBO WARN THE NIGERIAN ARMY. CALL AG PRESIDENT OSIBANJO TO CALL THE ARMY TO ORDER

1 Ohanaeze Ndigbo is shocked by the recent attack, arrest and raping of innocent IPOB women members at Abiriba, Abia state by some elements of the Nigerian Army at Ohafia Barracks in Abia state.

2. The attack is uncalled for. There is no law in Nigeria that bar people from meeting anywhere as long as they are not armed or violent. There is no law anywhere that forbids people from holding any democratic view even if the view is against official government view.

3. The best the Army could have done is to report unlawful gatherings or suspicious movements if any to the Nigerian police whose duty is to maintain law and order. It is not the duty of Nigerian army to arrest or detain and rape innocent women as they did at Abiriba.

4 The Ag President, Prof Osibanjo should rein in these barbarous soldiers to avoid breakdown of law and order in the society. Their overzealousness in becoming heinous. The Nigerian Army should respect our democratic norms or disband themselves.

5 We demand a unreserved apology from the Army at Ohafia. Even if Ohanaeze Ndigbo does not share the view of the IPOB activists, they are our children and we have the duty to protect them.Besides, they have never been violent in their agitations.

6 Nigerian Army must be the people’s Army and not one protecting sectional interest,

Kanu Appoints Mefor As His Deputy, Edoziem As Directorate’s Head

Nnamdi Kanu, The Republican News

•IPOB anniversary to hold in 120 countries as Lion Squad march in Onitsha

From Jeff Amechi Agbodo, Onitsha  and  Geoffrey Anyanwu, Awka

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, reaffirmed the appointment of Uche Mefor as his deputy and Chika Edoziem as head of the Directorate.

Kanu said the duo would be responsible for communicating his thoughts and views to IPOB membership and the rest of the world, through Radio Biafra.

He added that no other person  has the right to issue press release without their permission.

Kanu, who spoke through his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in a statement said the structural setup of IPOB world administrative headquarters will now be situated in London, United Kingdom and Germany, respectively.

He noted that Radio Biafra broadcasting from London was duly registered under United Kingdom Regulatory  Laws, fully licensed and censored under relevant regulatory frame work where Kanu remains the founder.

“It is in the face of the ongoing misconception and rumour making the rounds regarding the status of a new renegade channel floated in America that it has become necessary to issue this statement.

‘‘At the same time, all the members of IPOB and general public are hereby informed that the position of coordinators of all coordinators has been abolished following the reorganisation carried out by the leadership of IPOB and anybody parading himself as a coordinator should be treated as a criminal.”

He, however, urged members of IPOB and Biafrans to observe the sit-at-home order to honour the fallen heroes who were killed during civil war between 1967 and 1970.

Meanwhile, the group has confirmed that the 50th Biafra anniversary celebration will be held in over 120 countries and territories around the world.

IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement in Awka, said Kanu had directed that the event be given the serious attention it deserves.

He  said the event will also be used to prove to the world that Biafrans were ready for the upcoming referendum for its sovereignty. In a related development, IPOB Ontisha Lion Squad, yesterday, took to the roads and streets of Onitsha, Anambra State, to sensitise traders and residents to comply with the sit-at-home order. The squad, numbering about 100, kicked off the sensitisation march from Ozomagana, off Ochanja Market through Old Market Road, Main Market and terminated at Central School Road, Onitsha.

The members, mainly young boys and girls held Biafran flags and placards with inscriptions: ‘We should all comply with May 30 sit-at-home order, ‘No going back on May 30,’ ‘we must honour our fallen heroes, no market, bank, parks, school should open,’ no movement on that day…” They sang and chanted Biafran songs and marched peacefully without any disturbance and harassment by security agents but maintained orderliness along the roads and streets throughout the march.

that lasted for hours.

One of the members of the group who doesn’t want to be named said they were advised not to speak to anybody including the press, told our reporter that the road march was to enlighten the members of the public on the forthcoming May 30 Biafra Day to honour those that lost their lives in the struggle.

He said IPOB is known for its non-violent approach for the struggle and will continue to maintain law and order in carrying out its activities but lamented that in the previous rallies and protests, their members were maimed and killed for no just cause.

He further stated that no security agent attacked them throughout the road march and urged  traders and residents of Onitsha and all Biafrans to comply with the sit-at-home order on May 30 to avoid security agent’s attacks and harassments.

According to him, “what we are doing is to tell members of the public the need for them to stay at home on May 30 to honour our fallen heroes who died in the struggle. We don’t want our members to be killed again by security agents. We are not going to march or protest or do rally on that day, we should be at home throughout the day to respect those who shed their blood for the restoration of Biafra.”

Meanwhile, IPOB confirmed that the 50th Biafra Anniversary celebration would be held in over 120 countries and territories around the world outside Biafraland.

It said the event would also be used to prove to the world that Biafrans were ready for the upcoming referendum for Biafra sovereignty. Emma Powerful, the media and publicity secretary of IPOB, in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka said IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu had directed that the event be given the serious attention it deserves.

50TH BIAFRA ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION TO HOLD IN 120 COUNTRIES – IPOB

·         -Plans Referendum for Biafra

 Geoffrey Anyanwu, Awka

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday confirmed that the 50th Biafra Anniversary celebration coming up on May 30, 2017 would be held in over 120 countries and territories around the world outside Biafraland.

IPOB said the event which was for the honour and remembrance of the heroes and heroines that died in in the cause of fighting for the liberation of Biafra would also be used to conclusively prove to the whole world that Biafrans were ready for the upcoming referendum for Biafra sovereignty.Comrade Emma Powerful, the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka said the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had directed that the event be given the serious attention it deserves.

He said, “We have been directed by our leader to demonstrate our formidability and resoluteness in our respective countries of residence across the globe in such a manner that our heroes, wherever they lie, even in unmarked graves in forgotten battlefields, will be proud of what they achieved 50 years ago.

The image maker of the group however decried what he described as very pathetic and downright criminally unpatriotic actions of certain individuals he said hide under the banner of Biafra but serve a Northern Nigeria agenda.

He said “These elements and their groups, not content with duping people in the name of Biafra, have now gone to bring shame and infamy to themselves and their group by attempting to discourage our people from honouring our heroes and much worse even shaming the memory of their own members that died in the course of Biafra agitation.

“IPOB and it’s leadership will prove to the Nigerian agents in our midst that the historic event of the 30th of May 2017 Remembrance Day celebration and Sit-at-Home order issued by our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be a watershed in the struggle for the liberation of Biafra and a remarkable one in the history of our nation. After this sit-at-home, which is a mini referendum for us, comes the real referendum later this year. IPOB is the largest most potent freedom fighting outfit anywhere in the world right now and we stand to prove this on the 30th of May 2017.

His statement reads in part, “…Biafrans both home and abroad must honour and remember our heroes and heroines that died to stop the total Islamization of the sacred land of Biafra and perpetual enslavement of the children of God. The exceptionally gallant soldiers of the class of 67-70 and the fearless IPOB family (including MASSOB members killed over the years) during numerous protests and rallies to free Biafra, paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives that we may live. It is therefore the patriotic duty of every right thinking Biafran (man, woman and child) to respect the sacrifice these brave men and women made for our survival as a race.

“All IPOB family units outside Biafraland, in over 120 countries and territories around the world, are expected to partake in street demonstrations, rallies, lectures and prayers to ensure the remembrance of our fallen heroes and heroines on 30th of May 2017 goes down in history as one of the greatest events the world would ever witness. IPOB will use this event to conclusively prove to the whole world that we are ready for the upcoming referendum for Biafra sovereignty.

“We commend IPOB families in the UK, Europe, Asia, Middle East, USA and many others across the world that have managed to secure marching permits from their relevant authorities because of this historic 30th of May event. The leadership of IPOB are also aware that almost all countries where IPOB has presence, including Angola, Mozambique, Congo DRC, Namibia and Tanzania have respectfully perfected their own arrangements to honour our heroes and heroines on that particular day.

“IPOB family members in the UK have secured their venue at Trafalgar Square London for a rally. It is however interesting to note that when the Deputy National Coordinator of IPOB UK contacted the British Metropolitan Police for permission to march on Trafalgar Square on the 30th of May 2017, they were informed by the officer responsible for issuing permits that since 2014 IPOB under the leadership of  Mazi Nnamdi Kanu started its street protests in London, there had never been any breach of public peace compared to similar protests by other groups that have always degenerated into scuffles and altercations with law enforcement agencies in the London area.”

The statement noted that Britain being a civilized country and having recognized the very civil approach of IPOB granted permission to IPOB to proceed with the rally without undergoing the tedious application process for a permit.

“In Biafraland and certain parts of the British created country known as Nigeria, Biafrans are required to stay at home and not venture outside. There will be a complete lockdown of Biafraland and major cities where Biafrans have a significant population concentration like Sabon Gari in Kano, Lagos, Kaduna, Zaria and Abuja.”

Further on those he described as saboteurs, IPOB said, “They have collected money from their Hausa Fulani sponsors to try and disrespect our heroes that fought and died for us. These charlatans without shame or honour have forgotten that MASSOB members died at the hands of the same people they have gone to collect money from to stop a remembrance that includes honouring their own members that died in service to Biafra

“This is the height of evil and betrayal of the very worst kind. To shamefully make such open and unguarded statements concerning the Remembrance Day celebration of our fallen heroes and heroines who died that we may live is indicative of the hopelessness and criminal mindset of these Nigeria sponsored criminals masquerading as Biafrans.”

People are directed to remain law abiding and use the opportunity to pray for the repose of the soul of the Biafra fallen heroes” Kanu stated.

Students of UNN who were highly elated on the visit of the State executives, all wore Biafra T-shirts, welcoming them in their midst as they strongly vowed to propagate the gospel of Biafra to the nooks and crannies of the school.

The meeting which was well organized in a serene environment inside the school, witnessed more group of students trooping in to join IPOB.

Apart from the State Executives and Senatorial District Mobilizers who witnessed the school visit, IPOB Coordinators of tertiary institutions of learning in the state such as the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, UNEC, and that of the Institute of Management and Technology, IMT, were also present at the meeting.

The State Coordinator during his address to the students, intimated them on the rules, principles and guidelines expected of them to abide with as they join in the propagation of the Biafra gospel, while tasking them to ensure that IPOB family zones are extended all around the campus.

Mazi Egbo Nwodo also told them that the task at hand is to ensure that all the corners of the state is completely shut down come 30th May Heroes Remembrance Day, even as he shared sensitization posters and letters to the students for fast and easy dissemination of the information to Sit-at-home on that day.

On their part, the students who welcomed the admonition of the State Executives, all pleaded for channel by which they can receive radio Biafra signals in the school and Nsukka environs for prompt information. But the State Coordinator assured them that in the coming weeks, Radio Biafra will be planted in Nsukka and environs.

I want you to take this message to him that he has awoken the Lions/Lioness especially here in Nsukka and he should be prepared to meet the jungle.

“We are solidly behind him and we will take this evangelism to every nooks and crannies of this institution to fish out the lions and strong men around this school. We will show him what we can do and how far we can go and at the end of this very process, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, will be completely transformed to University of Biafra, Nsukka.” This attracted a very huge sound of applause as the meeting culminated in a very exuberant mode.

BIAFRA: IPOB Members Wanted, Detained By DSS For Agitation Activities

By Chibiko Ikenna Offor

Image result for biafran killing in aba praying ground

One of the victims of Biafran killings by combined Nigerian security forces.

It is no more news that Department Of States Security of State Secret Service, DSS, has  been on the heels of Biafran agitators for mere protests or voicing their intention for independent state of Biafra.
The UN Human Rights group and Amnesty International have compiled list of deaths in the hands of DSS and other Nigeria security forces, cases they have merely denied but presented no tangible evidence to refute the facts of extra-judicial killings by their men in uniform.
One of the extra-judicial killings glaringly stood out and that is the massacre of over 100 Biafrans in Aba while they were simply praying.
These Biafrans were later dumped in a borrow pit along Aba-Port Harcourt expressway, where their bodies were discovered by IPOB members and UN Human Rights group.
One of the Biafrans who participated in some of these activities who is also on the run is Mr Cyril Ojomah. Cyril is from Agbor, Delta State but born in Lagos state.
He is the zonal coordinator of IPOB in Delta State, a state where the governor has out of political gains distant himself from Biafran agitation. He was on the ground in Aba when the events of February 9, 2016 took place. After that he has been on the run and reportedly left the country to yet to be disclosed country.
Cyril Ojomah also took part in the One-million-man match of which many Biafrans were killed in Agbor.
Cyril Ojomah is a graduate of Political Science from the Delta State University, Abraka.

South East Governors Afraid Of Losing Political Relevance In Biafra, Says Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, The Republican News

Nnamdi Kanu

Tony Okafor, Awka

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said the actualisation of the Republic of Biafra is possible.

He said that in realisation of this, South-East governors were afraid of losing their positions and political relevance in the area.

He said that was why the governors in the zone were not supporting the Biafra struggle.

Kanu stated this in a chat with our correspondent in his father’s palace at Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Abia State.

He said the fear being entertained by such people was neither here nor there because the Biafra republic would be founded on the principles of justice, equity and fairness.

He said, “I don’t know why they are just afraid. Biafra will be a home for all people who agree with our values.

“If you are from Sokoto, you can be a ‘Biafran’ if you believe in our value system of equity, justice and fairness.

“I don’t even intend to be the head of the Biafra republic in the end. I don’t like to always lead. I want to be led so that I can proffer solutions.

“If Uwazuruike had done well, I won’t be doing what I’m doing today. I’m into this struggle because of leadership vacuum.

“I’m into this fight because my people are suffering; they are being denied their rights and privileges. Nothing will stop this fight. And I must assure you, we are almost there. Biafra is almost here with us.”  (Punchng.com)

Court Officials Refuse To Process Release Of IPOB Members Due To N10,000 Bribe – Emeka Ugwuonye (IPOB Lawyer)

By Ike A. Offor

The court officials allegedly refused to process documents to release IPOB members, who have been acquitted by an honourable court due to N10,000 bribe, says the lawyer for the victims.

The victims are among the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, members who were arrested in Port Harcourt whose case has been thrown out by the court for lack of merit.

Barrister Emeka Ugwuonye, one of the legal counsel members for the incarcerated IPOB members in Port Harcourt, in this video enumerated the bizarre scenario of court workers refusing to process documents for the discharge granted by the court to IPOB members in Port Harcourt.

He promised to get those cases sorted out today, which is to see that these IPOB members are discharged from prison, where they have been illegally remanded since after the acquit or discharge order from the court.

Pro-Biafra Group Urges Buhari’s Government To Drop Charges Against Kanu

NnamdiKanunew

IPOB leader and Radio Biafra Director, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

Chidiebube Okeoma

A pro-Biafra group, Igboezue International, has asked the Federal Government to drop its charges against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group made this demand in a statement on Friday.

The Igboezue International also called for the unconditional release of other non-violent freedom fighters still in detention, adding that the conditions upon which Kanu was granted bail were unjustifiable.

The statement partly read, “We condemn the bail conditions, which to us are not only stringent but repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience. It is also an infringement on Kanu’s fundamental human rights of freedom of liberty and association as enshrined in Chapter 4 of 1979 and 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’

The group commended Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, and the Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, for standing by IPOB during the detention of its leader.   (Punchng.com)

UMUAHIA–Mazi Nnamdi Kanu could not hide his happiness upon sighting the famous IPOB artist, Don Prince who was recently declared ‘most wanted artist’ by the tyrannic Buhari-led government, eventually captured, prosecuted and disgracefully for the Prosecutor (FG), was finally discharged and acquitted by the chief magistrate of the Municipal Magistrate Court in Abuja, Balami M.
The IPOB leader did not waste time in showering blessings upon Don Prince as soon as his presence was made known in the renowned palace of his royal highness, Israel Kanu who was also present at the time. After saying the blessings, he went on to encourage the artist not to be intimidated after his ugly experience in the hands of the Gestapo outfit called the DSS; he then proceeded to introduce him to the royal household.
It will be recalled that Don Prince was arrested by the Nigerian government and detained alongside his daughter and her two friends who were visiting the country for the first time, after turning down the =N=15million bribe offered him by Buhari through the prodigal son of the land called Joe Igbokwe of the APC party in Nigeria.
Speaking to BIAFRA WRITERS correspondent in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s village in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku, in Umuahia, the artist shared his sordid experience in the hands of DSS      (Biafran writers)

Dr Alex Ekwueme gave assurance of his unflinching support the leader of IPOB.

He made this pledge when the IPOB leader paid him a visit at his residence in Enugu.

The Republican News learnt that Kanu made a pledge to hearken to advice from the elder statesman.

He had told Ekwueme that “I have come to tell you that we find you invaluable in our advancement of our people and in our course also to make life better for the public and for the masses.

“So, I am humbled and delighted to be here and also to bring you up to speed as to what we have been doing, what motivated me; what motivated the IPOB to do what we have been doing.

“It is more or less today an expression, a political expression to the yearnings and aspirations of the society; that’s what we are trying to do.

“The sum total of the struggle by the IPOB, which I’m leading is to ensure that there is dignity of life.

“And for us to fulfill that very mandate, we must be diligent, we must be focused, we must be sincere.

Responding, Ekwueme said it was a pleasure receiving the IPOB leader after all his travails, stressing “I thank God that he is free and able to move around.”
