Again DSS Denied Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Counsel Access To Him In Violation To Court Order |The Republican News

The Department of State Security Services (DSS) for the umpteenth time, denied us access to our Client today, insisting that our request would be looked into and accordingly approved by their DG before we could be granted access to him.

On the 26th Day of July 2021, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Nyako of Court No. 2 Federal High Court Abuja, after listening to our application, wherein I raised serious concerns about the safety and medical condition of Our Client, whom ordinarily was supposed to be produced in court on that day, ordered that the Detention Authority (DSS) should allow us access to him.

Upon our arrival in their office today being the 29th Day of July 2021, conspicuously armed with the Court Order under reference, the officials of the DSS, though admitted being aware of the Said Order but directed Us to come up with a formal application stating the names of persons who are visiting, which request was promptly complied with.

While we awaited to be admitted for the visit, the officials of the DSS unfortunately came back to inform us that we should go and await further communication from them pending the approval of Our request.
Attached for your ease of reference is a copy of the Court Order under reference. Details of the visit as worked out in His Lordship’s Chambers by Counsel on both sides and Representative of State Security Services, collectively agreed upon by everyone, is not stated in the attached order, which details is known to all parties on the modality of the visit.

I am not suprised by the conduct of the DSS who has the history of disobedience to Court Orders, but I am worried because, we do not know the present state of health of Our Client. I cannot categorically confirm to the World the present state of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as at today.

Evidence of court order

It is to be pointed out that Our Client is presently detained in DSS facility pursuant to an Order of Court, and another Order made by the same Court directing Our access to our Client on specified days, is unfortunately being flouted by the officials of the State Security Services, as they have no reason or justification of any kind to refuse us access.

We will formally communicate the Court first thing tomorrow morning on this unfortunate and strange development, and shall keep the World updated.

Should anything untoward happen to Our Client, the Nigerian Government and the Department of State Security Services should be held responsible.

Let the World and all responsible Foreign Government take Notice of this dangerous trend.

Thank you all.

UK Government Has Hand In Nnamdi Kanu’s Abduction In Kenya, Says Lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor |The Republican News

By Ogochukwu Anioke, Abakaliki

The British government has a hand in the alleged ‘abduction’ of leader of The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu in Nairobi, Kenya his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has alleged.

Mr Ejiofor made the accusation on Wednesday while speaking on Arise TV Morning Show.

He also accused the British Government and the British High Commission of not doing much to help Kanu despite being a British citizen.

Ejiofor wondered why the Commission has not visited Kanu since he was brought to Nigeria.

He noted that unlike Kanu’s 2015 arrest when the Commission was regularly visiting him while in detention, the British Commission is paying lip service to helping him this time around.

He said: “I can confirm to you that British high commission is not doing much about this case. I can confirm to you that there is every likely hood of connivance in what happened to my client.

“Because some times in 2015 when my client was arrested I know how they were keeping in constant communication with him and visiting him regularly both when he was in DSS custody and when he was transfered to prison.

“But as at yesterday a British national was arrested and till date they have not visited him even when we have officially notified them of the situation.

“As at the time he was arrested, he was arrested as a British national because he had renounced his Nigerian citizenship over 5 years ago. And they are still talking about offering him consular services”, he said

Ejiofor cautioned the media to stop describing the ordeal of his client in Kenya as an arrest arguing that it was a clear case of abduction, illegal imprisonment, torture and extraordinary rendition.

He said the manner he was taken and the manner Yoruba Activist, Sunday Igboho was arrested were completely different.

“At the time he was arrested, his associates in Nairobi started looking for him. They searched in all the Police stations and other law enforcement agencies and he was nowhere to be found.

“In the case of Sunday Igboho, he was arresteded in Benin Republic and taken to custody and is being subjected to trial. His arrest was announced but in the case of my client he was detained in an illegal facility for 8 days after which he was renditioned back to Nigeria,”he said

IPOB LAWYER CONFIRMS ARREST OF NNAMDI KANU, CALLS FOR CALM

We have just confirmed through a correspondence from the Federal High Court Abuja, about the arrest and the extradition of my Client- Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian State.

It is to be noted therefore, that no matter the gravity of the offences or charge preferred against him, Section 36(5) of the Constitution still presumes him innocent of the allegation.

He was brought before the Federal High Court No 2 Abuja today on an Eleven count charge, though without our knowledge.

As it is in the public domain, the matter has been consequently adjourned to the 26th Day of July 2021, for Continuation of Trial.
The legal team ably led by my humble self will meet them in court on this date.

We insist that he must be given a fair hearing/trial which is his constitutionally protected right.
His safety as also guaranteed under our law throughout the trial and afterwards, should be enforced.

Our fortified Legal team will be meeting to agree on strategies within the context of the Charge and disposition of the Court.

Await further update from us as we progress.

Thank you and remain blessed.
