‘Build More Prisons, Morgue For US’ —Defiant IPOB Members To Abubakar Malami |The Republican News

The group also told the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to prepare more cells and mortuaries should he want to detain or kill its members, as they prepare to flood the court to show solidarity with their leader.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have vowed to storm Abuja, the nation’s capital for the trial of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday.

The group also told the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to prepare more cells and mortuaries should he want to detain or kill its members, as they prepare to flood the court to show solidarity with their leader.

The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Sunday while speaking about his expectations regarding Kanu’s trial, which is expected to commence on Monday.

He, however, cautioned the members of IPOB and Kanu’s supporters to behave appropriately and obey the law.

“You should expect Biafrans in Abuja tomorrow and nobody can stop us or prevent us from being in court tomorrow. Nnamdi Kanu is our leader and we cannot afford to abandon him because he did not abandon us.

“IPOB members should move to Abuja and those living in Abuja must be there to show solidarity with our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and for Nigeria to know that he is our own.

“Malami and his co-conspirators should prepare to kill all of us tomorrow, and every IPOB member must behave well.

“This is to show the world that we are coming, (and) for this court to know that we are disciplined and cultured. Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has laid the foundation of IPOB well and we must follow his teachings,” Powerful said.

Kanu, the leader of the most popular pro-Biafra group, will continue his trial on Monday at a Federal High Court in Abuja after he fled Nigeria in 2017. He is being prosecuted on allegations bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, illegal possession of arms, among others levelled against him by the Nigerian government.

He has been in the detention of the Department of State Services (DSS) since he was abducted in Kenya and extradited to Nigeria, after his brief appearance before Justice Binta Nyako on June 30.

According to Powerful, the Nigerian government is inflicting pain on IPOB members through its actions.

He, however, vowed that the group will not keep quiet until the world hears and comes to its aid.

“We will be there tomorrow. Let Malami clean his prisons and mortuary for our people tomorrow. The world will see them tomorrow. You cannot beat a child and force the child not to cry, that is what they are trying to do to us and we must cry until the world hears us. Nnamdi Kanu remains our leader, no other person,” Powerful added.

Kanu: Malami Acting Like ‘Unlearned Fellow, Says ex-NIIA DG Akinterinwa |The Republican News

Minister Justice, Abubakar Malami and IPOB leader, Maazi Nnamdi Kanu

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue

Nnamdi Kanu and Abubakar Malami (SAN)
Former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Prof Bola Akinterinwa, says the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), acted like an “unlearned” fellow during the recent extradition of leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The diplomat, who spoke while featuring on PUNCH Online interview programme, The Roundtable, also advised the Federal Government to stop the use of force on agitators and explore amicable resolutions.

Kanu, who was born on September 25, 1967, is a holder of Nigerian and British passports. Upon his re-arrest and extradition from a foreign country of recent, he was arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja for terrorism-related charges and has since been remanded in the custody of the Department of State Services. He had jumped bail before fleeing to the United Kingdom.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the British Government expressed readiness to provide “consular assistance” for Kanu but needed him to assent to the assistance by signing some forms.

But a member of Kanu’s legal team, Aloy Ejimakor, who took the forms to Kanu in DSS custody, said the secret police stopped Kanu from signing the consular assistance forms by the United Kingdom.

The development sparked reactions as to the legality and otherwise of the Nigerian government to bar Kanu from seeking consular assistance from the UK.

Asked if he foresees a diplomatic dispute between Nigeria and the UK if the former fails to explain how Kanu was brought back into the country, the ex-NIIA DG Akinterinwa said, “Yes, it is not a question for foresee, it is already there; the foundation for the diplomatic row is already laid because if you want to follow the thinking of a French school of thought which says order and counter-order amounts to disorder, I agree with this thinking.

“What we have already, we have the order on the part of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has decided to attack, in an unfriendly manner, the sovereignty of the British people and in this case, the British Government is responding by saying you Government of Nigeria, you don’t have the right to attack my own sovereignty.

“In other words, the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s order is now being countered order by the British simply because the subject matter, Nnamdi Kanu, is a citizen of the United Kingdom.

“The problem is not as simple as people would have us believe. It is most unfortunate that the very knowledgeable lawyers, who are said to be learned, the Attorney General of the Federation, Malami himself is said to be learned but the problem I always have is when you are learned and we cannot see the outcome of the extent to which one is learned for political reasons.

“You cannot be a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and claim not to know what international diplomatic practice is all about. What is at stake, the encounter that we have resulting from the order of the Nigerian Government and the counter-order of the British government is what we found ourselves because the British are now saying that you cannot try to embarrass a citizen of the United Kingdom.”

The septuagenarian diplomat said though Kanu is a citizen of Nigeria by birth and later acquired British citizenship, the latter is stronger and effective than the former in international law “because as at the time of the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, he was holding a passport of the United Kingdom”.

Akinterinwa said the impending diplomatic row between Nigeria and Britain would be “catastrophic”. “It is certainly going to be very disorderly that the consequences will be more than the Umaru Dikko saga of 1984,” he said making reference to Dikko, a Minister of Transport during the administration of ex-President Shehu Shagari.

As a military head of state in 1984, the Buhari regime had allegedly arrested Dikko in London, drugged him and put him in a coffin, abducting him to Nigeria to answer allegations of corruption. The secret extradition was however foiled by the British Government.

“There must be the need to control the dictatorial blood flowing in Muhammadu (Buhari) under a democratic setting,” Akinterinwa emphasised.

The brother of the IPOB leader, Kingsley, had said Kanu was arrested in Kenya, a country in East Africa but Kenya has since denied the allegation.

However, Akinterinwa stated that Kenya cannot claim not to know about the extradition of Kanu “because the mere fact that Nnamdi Kanu was abducted on the territory of Kenya, he must have passed through the immigration desk, all the security agencies there, so they cannot lay claims to not knowing what had happened”.

“When I was calling for a learned, responsible Attorney General of Nigeria, you don’t interpret international treaties on a lighter mode, you must look at the implications. The sovereignty of Nigeria doesn’t extend beyond its international frontiers, considering the immediate Francophone neighbours.

“To have gone beyond Nigeria’s limited countries is an exaggeration. And for Kenya claiming not to know, its own international responsibility will be called to question because the country has the responsibility to protect all foreigners travelling to and travelling out of Kenya,” he added.

United Kingdom Ask Nigeria To Explain Circumstances Behind Nnamdi Kanu’s Abduction |The Republican News

IPOB leader, Maazi Nnamdi Kanu

LONDON, July 20 (Reuters) – Britain has asked Nigeria to explain where and how Nnamdi Kanu, a separatist leader who holds British citizenship, was arrested after Kanu’s lawyer alleged he had been detained and mistreated in Kenya before being sent back to Nigeria.

Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group which wants part of southeastern Nigeria to secede, was on the run outside Nigeria for four years until he was brought to court in Abuja on June 29 and told he would face trial. read more

“We are seeking clarification from the Nigerian government about the circumstances of the arrest and detention of Nnamdi Kanu,” said Tariq Ahmad, a junior minister at Britain’s Foreign Office.

The Nigerian authorities have refused to say where Kanu was arrested, while Kenya’s ambassador to Nigeria has denied his country was involved. read more

Responding to a question about Kanu’s case from a lawmaker, Ahmad said Britain had requested consular access to Kanu and stood ready to provide consular assistance.

A spokesman for Nigeria’s Department of State Services, the security agency that is holding Kanu, could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday, a public holiday in Nigeria.

Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, alleged he was abducted by Kenya’s special police force and held for eight days before being turned over to Nigerian authorities. read more

Kanu faces 11 charges including treason, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms. His case is due to resume in court in Abuja next week.

IPOB wants a swathe of the southeast to split from Nigeria. The region attempted to secede in 1967 under the name Republic of Biafra, triggering a three-year civil war in which more than a million people died, mostly from starvation.

The Biafran enclave was reabsorbed into Nigeria after the war, but despite an official “no victor no vanquished” policy adopted at the time, discontent has continued to simmer in the region.

IPOB Reveals Two Governors, Minister, Businessman Who Funded Nnamdi Kanu Abduction, Says They’ll Be Worse Than Judas |RN

The two governors willingly offered to aid the Nigerian government in capturing the Biafra secessionist leader, to protect their political interests.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has stated that Governors Nyesom Wike and Willie Obiano of Rivers and Anambra states respectively allegedly bankrolled the abduction and repatriation of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

According to the statement made available by the IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, to SaharaReporters on Thursday, the two governors willingly offered to aid the Nigerian government in capturing the Biafra secessionist leader, to protect their political interests.

The statement further revealed that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and an Igbo businessman Chief Emeka Offor also perfidiously played roles in Kanu’s current travails.

The statement reads in part, “The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great and indomitable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has finally uncovered those behind the betrayal of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to the evil hands of Fulani-controlled Government of Nigeria through the collaboration of the Kenyan Government and its secret services.

“Our crack intelligence unit has uncovered how the treacherous Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State; greedy Igbo businessman, Chief Emeka Offor, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige conspired to sabotage our leader to safeguard their selfish political and business interests.

“Our intelligence unit, the M. Branch discovered how Emeka Offor of Oraifte coordinated and financed the evil plot. We equally gathered that the Nigerian Government initially refused to commit the extraordinary rendition until Emeka Offor, Nyesom Wike, and Willie Obiano, agreed to bankroll the plot.”

In the statement titled, ‘How Wike, Obiano, Emeka Offor Betrayed Our Leader – IPOB’, the group through its covert information revealed that the Nigerian government initially declined to fund the operation, but these Igbo personalities offered to carry the burden.

It also disclosed that Offor plotted to establish another Radio Biafra with N250million to work against the Nnamdi Kanu-led separatist agenda.

“According to our investigations, the Nigeria government refused to sponsor the project but these treacherous Igbo criminals volunteered to fund the evil mission. We also uncovered how Emeka Offor told some people that he was ready to provide N250 million to open another Radio Biafra to counter our Leader’s broadcasts on the official Radio Biafra.

“Should anything happen to our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the fate of Judas will be more honourable than what will befall these traitors. Anybody close to these saboteurs should advise them to quickly go for the release of our Leader the way they trapped him into the net of the wicked Nigeria Government.

“We, therefore, want to place it on record that these traitors – Nyesom Wike, Willie Obiano, Emeka Offor, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige and their collaborators are to be held accountable to whatever happens to Nnamdi Kanu. They shall surely pay for their satanic role in the abduction and rendition of our Leader.

“Investigation is still ongoing to determine the level of each person’s involvement,” the statement further reads. (Sahara Reporters)

REVEALED: Details Of Car Nnamdi Kanu Was Driving When Abducted From Kenyan Airport Parking Lot, Others |The Republican News

SaharaReporters had reported that Kanu was taken from an underground parking lot of an international airport in Kenya, while trying to “meet a person arriving in the country for a high-level IPOB meeting”.

More details have emerged of the illegal abduction of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Kenya, including that of the vehicle registration plate or number plate of the vehicle in which he was taken.

BREAKING: Kanu Speaks, Says He’s Abducted, Detained With Help Of Kenyan Police For 8 Days Before Coming To Nigeria |RN

SaharaReporters had reported that Kanu was taken from an underground parking lot of an international airport in Kenya, while trying to “meet a person arriving in the country for a high-level IPOB meeting”.

A source privy to how Kanu was illegally kidnapped in Kenya and brought to Nigeria by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has revealed that “it was only his Kenyan-based phone that was seized upon his arrest”.

The source said his “passport and three (major) phones plus laptop were not with him during the time he was kidnapped”.

Also according to the source, Kanu was arrested in an “Audi TT with licence plate number KCV 100 K”.

SaharaReporters also learnt that Kanu has engaged the services of a top law firm, Bindmans LLP,  to represent him in the UK.

Bindmans is an award-winning law firm based in central London with four senior consultants and 21 partners.

The senior consultants are Sir Geoffrey Bindmans QC, Stephen Grosz QC, Saimo Chahal QC, and Lynn Knowles.

SaharaReporters has consistently reported that Kanu was arrested inside a car, and not while strolling as some reports have claimed.

SaharaReporters had reported, quoting a top source, that “Kanu had arrived in Kenya and settled down in a house. On June 19, 2021, he drove himself in a car to the international airport to meet a person arriving in the country for a high-level IPOB meeting.

“He drove into the underground parking lot at the airport and was arrested before exiting the car.

“He was taken to a house and brutalised for 8 days while the Nigerian authorities perfected how to forcefully relocate him to Nigeria.

“He was travelling on a British passport, not a Nigerian passport as alleged by Malami. He was brought into Nigeria on a Saturday and arraigned on Monday.

“Buhari upon learning of his abduction decided to cancel his trip to the UK to manage the diplomatic fallouts at home instead of going to London.

“Kanu was interrogated in the presence of his lawyers in the DSS office in Abuja.

“He was taken out of Kenya without passing through immigration.”

There have been reports that INTERPOL was involved in Kanu’s arrest but the top dismissed that, saying “INTERPOL wasn’t involved”.

Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, confirmed that Kanu had been rearrested.

At a joint press briefing with the State Security Service (SSS), also known as the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, Malami said Kanu was rearrested and returned to Nigeria on Sunday, June 27.

He did not, however, give details of where Kanu was arrested and the diplomatic collaborations that may have been involved in the operation.

According to him, the IPOB leader was arrested through “collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services”.

Kanu, who is being prosecuted on charges of treasonable felony, was thereafter arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja. It was his first court appearance since he fled Nigeria in September 2017 after an invasion of his home by the military in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia in Abia State. (SaharaReporters)

Nnamdi Kanu’s UK Passport Still In Kenya Despite Claim Of Lawful Arrest, Extradiction By Nigeria |The Republican News

Kanu’s United Kingdom passport is still in the East African Country.

New evidence that Kenyan authorities have a hand in the arrest and extradition of Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra leader, has emerged.

Kanu’s United Kingdom passport is still in the East African Country.

A UK Newspaper, The Guardian, stated this in a report, adding that Kanu got a Kenya visa which was to expire in June, and he had been around in the country before his sudden arrest and extradition.

How IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Was Kidnapped From Airport Parking Lot In Kenya |The Republican News

“Evidence seen by the Guardian shows Kanu entered Kenya this year on his British passport on a visa expiring in June. His UK passport remains in Kenya. Kanu was not in possession of a Nigerian passport, his family said, and he has verbally renounced his Nigerian citizenship in broadcasts.

“The abduction of a person from a foreign country with the aim of rendition to justice is illegal under international law,” the UK newspaper report says.

SaharaReporters had on Wednesday reported that Kanu recounted his experience in Kenya while speaking with his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, saying he was “mercilessly beaten and tortured” in the East African country before his extradition to Nigeria.

Ejiofor had confirmed the words of Kanu during an interview, adding that Kanu told him how he was detained not in the Kenya official detention centers but in a private residence for about eight days, before his extradition to Nigeria.

The lawyer had said, “There was a clear collaboration between the Kenya government and the Nigerian government. I am happy that they now deny the fact that Kanu was arrested there.

“But by the time we finish with them at the International Criminal Court, they will never remain the same. He was arrested at the airport there, and he was taken to an unknown residence. He was subjected to inhuman treatment.

“Kanu was tortured, maltreated and mercilessly beaten, as confirmed by him to us. After spending eight days in their illegal custody, they now beckoned to the Nigerian government. Kanu was lifeless and unconscious by the time they were bringing him to Nigeria.

“To tell you the level of their conspiracy and the desperation to get him, they brought him here on a Sunday and the federal government is fully aware that I am his legal counsel.

“He was brought into the country and inflicted with several injuries and he is having many medical issues today. It was at the behest of the Federal government that Kenya was doing those things. This is against all international laws. We are going to address an international court at that level.”

The Kenyan authorities had denied that they had anything to do with the arrest and extradition of Kanu to Nigeria. (SaharaReporters)

We’ve Proof Buhari’s Government Promised Kenyan President, Kenyatta Money, Oil, To Betray Nnamdi Kanu —IPOB |RN

According to IPOB, the Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya negotiated the deals with Kenyatta on how to abduct Kanu and extradite him to Nigeria.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has insisted that President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya formed an alliance with the Nigerian government to abduct the leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu.

According to IPOB, the Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya negotiated the deals with Kenyatta on how to abduct Kanu and extradite him to Nigeria.

IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful revealed this in a statement he made available to SaharaReporters on Monday.

In the statement, Powerful insisted that Kenyan President was offered money to betray the pro-Biafra separatist leader.

“The attention of the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been drawn to the lame denial by the Kenyan Ambassador to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, of Kenya’s involvement in the criminal abduction of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“This denial is another smart but belated attempt to cover up their atrocity but unfortunately for them, we already have incontrovertible evidence of how the dirty deal between Nigeria and Kenya was struck. Our intelligence gathering has revealed all those involved in this heinous crime.

“The fact remains that Kenyan security forces abducted our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Nairobi International Airport and tortured him for eight days. Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was travelling with a British passport.

“Contrary to claims by the Nigerian Government, our leader was not travelling with any Nigerian passport because he is not a Nigerian. He was born in Biafra and he has since publicly renounced any connections with Nigeria.

“From our intelligence, Kenya betrayed our leader because of financial inducement and an offer of oil by Nigeria. The negotiations were midwived by the Nigerian Ambassador in Nairobi who bargained with President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kenyan Immigration Authorities. Uhuru Kenyetta was blinded by the oil money offer and he consented to this wickedness,” the statement read in part.

The group also stated that Kenya Police officers tortured Kanu for eight days without giving him food, adding that boycotting products and services from the East African country is still valid.

Powerful, in the statement, recalled how the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe helped President Kenyatta’s father when he was fighting against colonialism in his days, but the son paid back by betraying Kanu and IPOB demanding their freedom.

He, then, vowed that Kenyatta would be paid back in his own coin for an act of betrayal against the IPOB leader.

“We have it on good authority that Kenya police tortured our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for eight days without food. Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ambassador to Nigeria should be ashamed of themselves for betraying an innocent man because of money. But we assure them that they will pay heavily for this treachery!

“Our earlier directive to Biafrans to boycott Kenya Airlines, any business involving Kenya citizens or products made in Kenya or by Kenyans subsists. Kenya and her government have shown Biafrans that they supported the 1967 – 1970 genocidal killing and annihilation of the Biafran people.

“Kenyan citizens must rise up now and convince us that they are not in support of their President, Uhuru Kenyatta and Government in this treachery. They must take action against Uhuru Kenyatta to prove to us their disapproval of this evil.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has bitten the finger that fed him. How quickly he has forgotten that his father Jomo Kenyetta ran to the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe for refuge when he was fighting for his own freedom during their own colonial freedom. But today he is paying us back by choosing to support a terrorist Government against Biafra. He will never escape the reward of Judas!” Powerful added in the statement. (SaharaReporters)

Stop Lies Connecting Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Uba To Abduction Of Nnamdi Kanu —IPOB Warns |The Republican News

■Powerful, in a statement signed by himself and obtained by SaharaReporters on Monday, warned those who used his name to issue a statement which linked Uba and Wike to the betrayal of the IPOB leader to desist from such.

The media and publicity secretary of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says he or the group has not accused Senator Ifeanyi Uba and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike of being involved in the arrest of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Powerful, in a statement signed by himself and obtained by SaharaReporters on Monday, warned those who used his name to issue a statement which linked Uba and Wike to the betrayal of the IPOB leader to desist from such.

He reiterated that the group does not work on speculations as it does not have evidence that the two politicians were involved in the abduction of Kanu in Kenya.

IPOB spokesman, however, said the group would not hesitate to disclose it to the public if it had any proof against them, adding that those who participated in the abduction and torture of Kanu would not go scot-free.

The group said this in its reaction to a statement and video it claimed was circulating on the social media that Powerful accused Uba and Wike of being part of those who betrayed Kanu.

“The attention of global movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been drawn to the false and malicious press statement and audio being circulated, and purported to have been issued by our Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.

“In the said statement, Powerful was quoted as accusing Senator Ifeanyi Uba; and Gov. Nyesom Wike of colluding with the enemies and facilitating the betrayal and abduction of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya.

“We, therefore, wish to dissociate from the fake statement being peddled by agents of confusion. Our Publicity Secretary never at any time linked Senator Ifeanyi Uba or Governor Wike with the wicked betrayal of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. If they were involved in the dirty deal, our investigations into the matter will reveal it.

“But for now, we have no evidence to link them with the atrocity. IPOB does not act based on speculation or rumour. Our assertions are evidence-based and products on credible intelligence,” part of the statement said.

The group’s spokesman, also insisted, that the “treacherous acts” that led to the arrest of his boss were facilitated by Kenyan government, adding that Uba’s political enemies should not use Kanu’s predicament against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra State.

“We, therefore, warn unscrupulous elements and ‘One chance politicians’ using the name of IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary to dish out a fake press statement to stop such criminality immediately.

“Those behind this evil should know that we will unravel their identity. They can’t hide for too long. They will incur the unmitigated wrath of IPOB if they don’t stop this nonsense.

“For the benefit doubt, IPOB has only linked the betrayal and abduction of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to President Uhuru Kenyetta of Kenya, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Kenya, Kenyan’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Willfred Machage and the Nigerian Government. Other collaborators in this heinous crime will be made public based on incontrovertible evidence.

“But for now, we restate that Senator Ifeanyi Uba has not been found to have any hand in it. His political opponents should try other ways of settling scores with him and leave IPOB and our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu out of it. We must trace those behind this and they will regret their action for dragging IPOB into the zoo’s politics and for impersonation.

“We, therefore, urge members of the public to disregard the said fake press release and shun any purported statement from IPOB that is not from a credible source or our usual channels,” Powerful added in the statement. (SaharaReporters)

JUST IN: Canadian Justice Minister Calls For Immediate Release Of Nnamdi Kanu, Says Malami ‘Is A Disgrace To Rule Of Law” |RN

Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and Nnamdi Kanu

Kelechi Madu, the Minister of Justice and Solicitor-General of the government of Albertia, Canada, has called for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Madu in a statement on Saturday said the the Attorney-General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami is “a disgrace to rule of law, a “bigot” and “not worthy to be an officer of the court” stressing that both governments of Nigeria and Kenya broke major international law by abducting Kanu and moving him back to Nigeria.

The Canadian law czar also cautioned the government government of Nigeria to act in the interest of all Nigerians.

The statement reads:

“I urge the Nigerian government led by Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the safety of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. I urge his immediate release.

“Reports suggest that Mazi Kanu was abducted in Kenya with the active collaboration of the Kenyan government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta. If true, Nigeria and Kenya violated international law and the rule of law that is supreme in their respective
countries.

“I call upon the international community, and in particular, United States Embassy in Nigeria; United Kingdom embassy in Nigerian Canadian, German and Israeli embassies and the European Union in Nigeria to use all their power, including diplomacy to ensure the safety and release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“I further call on the leaders of these nations to ensure real consequences for these arbitrary violations of internationally accepted democratic norms and rules that govern civilized people, but above all, the arbitrary violations of Mazi Kanu’s fundamental human rights.

“Nigeria is burning, and the people of Nigeria, except those who are holding the country down, wants out. You cannot destroy the hope and aspiration of a people destined for greatness, and expect them to bow down in servitude.

“You cannot destroy a generation of people and expect them to not fight for their freedom. The power of the gun, state-sponsored terrorism will not achieve peace or the preservation
of Nigeria.

“The Igbos and other ethnic groups in Nigeria who are calling for Nigeria to be renegotiated do not seek violence or war. They seek peace. They seek progress and the advancement of their people. Not only that, but they seek fairness, safety, equity, and justice for their people. Furthermore, they seek the opportunity for their children to grow up and achieve their God-given abundant potential. They seek the rise of a people with the work ethic, intellect and capacity to be a truly global superpower on the continent of Africa. They seek dignity over inhumane treatment. Likewise, they seek life over death.

“Friends of the black world must unite and liberate the people of Nigeria from this bondage and from the claws of corrupt and inept politicians who have no business being near the corridor of Nigeria’s political power.

“The Attorney General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami is a disgrace to the rule of law, and not worthy to be an officer of the court. He has shown himself to be a bigot who does not understand what it means to live in a pluralistic society governed by the dictates of the rule of law.

“Finally, I must caution the present leaders of Nigeria to act in the best interests of the whole people of Nigeria. Since the inception of this government, and so far they have not been acting in all of Nigeria’s best interests”. (Journalist101)
