Reno Omokri Gives More Facts About DCP Abba Kyari Participation With Hushpuppi |The Republican News

The former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has revealed more information about Abba Kyari’s, Deputy Commissioner of Police link to international fraudster Hushpuppi.

Earlier, we reported that Otis Wright of the US District Court for the Central District of California had told the FBI to track down Kyari and produce him before the court for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud done by Hushpuppi.

US Court Orders FBI To Arrest DCP Abba Kyari Over Ties With Hushpuppi |The Republican News

As widely reported in Nigeria and beyond, Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai over a year ago and urged guilty to fraud in the U.S. earlier this week. The FBI said Hushpuppi and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to clean money.

The deputy commissioner of police was also indicted of receiving bribes from Hushpuppi to arrest a member of the syndicate in Nigeria.

Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in U.S. custody was unsealed on July 26.

However, Kyari had in a statement on Thursday denied allegations of conspiracy with Hushpuppi, saying he only met him two years ago and did not benefit financially from the fraudster.

Reacting to the news, Omokri, via his Twitter handle on Friday, said it would be difficult for Kyari to deny the FBI charges.

“It will be very hard for Abba Kyari to deny the charges in the FBI’s indictment. I searched the numbers listed in the affidavit on TrueCaller,” Omokri said.

“They’re matched to Kyari. Note that the confirmed numbers exchanged texts with Hushpupi’s numbers. How do we explain that?”

Hushpuppi Saga: Abba Kyari Threatens To Expose Other Police Officers If Extradited, Assembles Team Of Lawyers |RN

DCP Abba Kyari

Kyari is also lobbying the Nigeria Police Force starting with the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba

Embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, on Friday assembled a team of lawyers to fight off his looming arrest and extradition by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States, which appears to be hell bent in returning with the alleged fraudulent officer.

SaharaReporters learnt that Kyari is also lobbying the Nigeria Police Force starting with the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, and threatening to expose other top police officers who have benefitted from his largesse, should he be handed over to the FBI and extradited.

SaharaReporters gathered that Kyari, whose links with serial internet fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, were becoming too evident to deny, warned that he would expose the “dirty jobs” he had done for past and present Inspector-Generals of Police as well as some political elites in the country, if they did nothing to stop his extradition.

“There was a stormy meeting on Friday at the Inspector-General of Police’s office between the IGP and police authorities and the FBI agents. Kyari on his part is threatening that many senior officers benefited from his ‘generosity’ and if he’s betrayed, he would expose them.

“He’s now got a team of lawyers. Abba Kyari is still being assured by the police hierarchy that he would not be extradited to the US. He has warned that if he is extradited, the current and past IGPs and members of the political elites he provided support for and assisted for dirty jobs will all be exposed,” a top source told SaharaReporters.

SaharaReporters also reported exclusively that Kyari was given till next week to formally respond to the allegations till his extradition to the US would be decided by the police authorities.

SaharaReporters since Thursday in several reports on Kyari exposed how Hushpuppi claimed to have offered bribes to the top police officer, going by court documents that were ordered unsealed.

The United States Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, had also issued an arrest warrant against Kyari for his alleged links to Hushpuppi, who is standing trial for various offences that include internet fraud and money laundering.

The court documents also outlined a dispute among members of the Hushpuppi conspiracy, which allegedly prompted him to arrange to have an individual identified as ‘co-conspirator’ Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, jailed in Nigeria by DCP Kyari.

According to the affidavit, “Kyari is a highly decorated deputy commissioner of the Nigeria Police Force who is alleged to have arranged for Vincent to be arrested and jailed at Abbas’ behest, and then sent Abbas photographs of Vincent after his arrest.

“Kyari also allegedly sent Abbas bank account details for an account into which Abbas could deposit payment for Vincent’s arrest and imprisonment.”

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered an internal review of the United States’ authorities’ allegations against Kyari.

FBI Contacted Us To Arrest Abba Kyari, But It’s Police Matter —EFCC Source Says But Police Keep Mum |RN

However, the source stated that the case was not within the capacity of the EFCC but for the police to handle.

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, says it has been contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to arrest Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, over his connection with a serial internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas (Hushpuppi).

A top source in the EFCC disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Thursday.

However, the source stated that the case was not within the capacity of the EFCC but for the police to handle.

“FBI has contacted EFCC, asking that we arrest Abba Kyari but we told them that it is a police matter,” the source in the EFCC said.

But when SaharaReporters reached out to the Nigeria Police Force, it conspicuously kept mute over the allegation levelled against its ‘Super Cop’ who has enjoyed praises for his service over the years.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters had earlier reported that a United States’ Court issued a warrant of arrest for Kyari.

Otis Wright of the United States District Court for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to track down Kyari and produce him in the United States for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud.

Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai last June and he pleaded guilty to fraud in the US this week.

The FBI said Abbas and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money.

American prosecutors first sought a court warrant to arrest Kyari on February 12, 2021, according to court documents seen by People’s Gazette.

Another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.

Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in US custody was unsealed on July 26.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Hushpuppi narrated how he bribed Kyari to have one of his rivals, Kelly Chibuzor Vincent arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over proceeds of fraud amounting to $1.1 million.

The money was dubiously taken from a Qatari businessperson.

Abbas pleaded guilty to a multi-million fraud earlier this month and faces up to 20 years in jail.

He will be sentenced in the coming weeks and will forfeit some of his assets and his rights to appeal, while also paying restitution to victims of his fraudulent activities.

Kyari, in a statement on Facebook, has, however, dismissed the allegations of bribe.

I Only Assisted Him To Get Native Clothes, Caps Of 300,000 —Abba Kyari Responds To $1.1m Bribe From Hushpuppi |RN

Abbas Olorunwa Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi and DCP Abba Kyari

Kyari said he only assisted Hushpuppi to get native clothes and caps worth N300,000.

Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has denied collecting $1.1million bribe from suspected fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, who recently pleaded guilty in the United States.

Hushpuppi, who pleaded guilty to various charges, including money laundering, wire fraud, and felony, among others, had said he used Kyari, a leader of the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team, to jail a fellow fraudster Kelly Chibuzor Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the $1.1million loot received from the Qatari businessperson.

Vincent subsequently contacted the victim and informed them that they were being scammed by a syndicate involving him and Abbas, a US court document read.

Reacting in a Facebook post on Thursday, Kyari said he only assisted Hushpuppi to get native clothes and caps worth N300,000.

The police boss, however, admitted arresting Vincent but claimed he was released on bail to go and was not taken to any jail.

He wrote, “Friends; Abbas, who we later came to know as Hushpuppi, called our office about two years ago that somebody in Nigeria seriously threatened to kill his family here in Nigeria and he sent the person’s phone number and pleaded we take action before the person attacks (sic) his family.

“We traced and arrested the suspect and after investigations we discovered there wasn’t an actual threat to anyone’s life and they are long-time friends who have (sic) money issues between them. Hence, we released the suspect on bail to go and he was not taken to any jail.

“Nobody demanded for a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi. Our focus was to save people’s lives that were purported to have been threatened.

“Later, he saw some of my native clothes and caps on my social media page and he said he likes them and he was connected to the person selling the clothes and he sent about N300,000 directly to the person’s account. The native clothes and caps (5 sets) were brought to our office and he sent somebody to collect them in our office.

“Nobody demanded any money from Abbas Hushpuppi and nobody collected any money from him. We responded to a distress call he made on threat to his family and released the suspect when we discovered there was no life threat from the suspect. This is the true story. Vincent is alive; he can be contacted.

“For those who are celebrating that this is an indictment on us and mentioning some fictitious big money, they will be disappointed once again as our hands are clean and our record of service for two decades is open for everybody to see. They will continue seeing us serving our father land and we will continue responding to all distress calls from all Nigerians provided they are life threatening.”

SaharaReporters had earlier reported how Hushpuppi, who recently pleaded guilty in the United States, narrated how he bribed Kyari according to court documents.

US Officials said in court filings that Abbas disclosed during interrogation that he paid bribes to Nigeria’s police chief, Kyari, to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over a $1.1million dupe of a Qatari businessperson.

Abbas had asked Kyari to arrest and jail a fellow fraudster Kelly Chibuzor Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the $1.1million loot received from the Qatari businessperson.

How DCP Abba Kyari Flew To Dubai Spent Stupendous Lifestyle With Hushpuppi —FBI |The Republican News

Hushpuppi and Abba Kyari

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue

■Ramon Abbas pleaded guilty to multimillion-dollar fraud this week as part of a bargain with American prosecutors in Central California.

Nigerian police commissioner Abba Kyari left his official activities in Nigeria and flew to Dubai to enjoy a stupendous lifestyle with notorious Internet fraudster Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The September 2019 trip was only an episode of a mutually-beneficial cozy affair of Messrs Kyari and Abbas’ that was uncovered by American authorities as part of their ongoing prosecution of Mr Abbas for multimillion-dollar Internet fraud.

Mr Abbas pleaded guilty this week after his legal representatives successfully negotiated a plea deal with prosecutors in Central California, court documents said. He faces up to 20 years in jail at sentencing in the coming weeks. He will also forfeit some of his plunder from years of online fraud and pay restitution to some of his victims, court filings said.

Hushpuppi Narrates How He Paid DCP Abba Kyari To Jail Disloyal Fraud Gang Member |The Republican News

Following Mr Abbas’ guilty plea, additional documents showing how Mr Kyari was indicted as a member of Mr Abbas’ syndicate were unsealed. Peoples Gazette earlier published how Mr Abbas bribed Mr Kyari to arrest one of his gang members and throw him in jail following a dispute presumably over proceeds of their crime.

Additional details in the indictment file contained how Mr Kyari left his job as a police officer and travelled to Dubai to enjoy a good time with Mr Abbas, who lived at Palazzo Versace in the Emirati commercial capital.

Mr Abbas “sent a car and driver to drive” Mr Kyari around “during that trip,” FBI unsealed indictment said.

Also during the trip, Mr Kyari bragged to Mr Abbas about some of his so-called crime-busting activities in Nigeria, to which Mr Abbas responded by playing allegiance to the police chief.

“Am really happy to be ur boy,” Mr Abbas told Mr Kyari in an intercepted message. “I promise to be a good boy to u sir.”

Mr Kyari is also mentioned in a document by the U.S. Department of Justice, carrying out Hushpuppi’s order to arrest and jail a fellow conspirator, Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, in a fraud scheme after a disagreement over a $1.1 million dupe of a Qatari businessperson.

Mr Kyari has gained popularity as a strict and upright cop who cracked down on violent crimes in Nigeria, including kidnapping and armed banditry despite the warnings and allegations that his methods were brutal and corrupt.

In 2018, rights group Amnesty International accused Mr Kyari of illegally depleting assets of a suspected criminal after his team shot the man dead on the highway. Collins Ezenwa’s wife at the time said Mr Kyari and his team withdrew money from her late husband’s bank account and cleared millions in accommodation proceeds from his hotels.

Mr Kyari, who was honoured at a special plenary by the Nigerian House of Representatives, denied allegations of corruption against him and his team members, but sidestepped specific charges linking him to depletion of confiscated assets.

BREAKING: Abba Kyari, Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Reportedly Sick, Suspected Of Contracting Coronavirus

President Buhari and his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari

A top government source told SaharaReporters on Monday that Kyari has been seriously “down” since returning from a trip abroad.

Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, is said to be seriously ill and in fact suspected of being infected with Coronavirus.

A top government source told SaharaReporters on Monday that Kyari has been seriously “down” since returning from a trip abroad.

Kyari visited Germany and Egypt and only returned this week, giving credence to the fact that he may have indeed been infected with the virus.

Egypt has 327 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and 14 deaths while Germany has 29,056 infections and 123 deaths.

Though coughing severely, Kyari is said to have been attending meetings including with Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, ministers and other members of the Federal Executive Council.

Executive Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof James Momoh, was said to have accompanied Kyari on the trip to both countries.

The latest development comes hours after a leaked memo showed Kyari telling Nigerian legislators, who recently returned from foreign trips, to submit themselves for Coronavirus test.

It also comes after Aisha Buhari, wife of Nigeria’s President, disclosed that one of her daughters was in self-isolation after returning from the United Kingdom, one of the high risk countries for the virus.

On Monday, Nigeria confirmed its first Coronavirus death after a former Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Suleiman Achimugu, succumbed to the virus in Abuja.

Earlier, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control announced a total of 36 confirmed cases but with Kyari’s suspected infection, that figure may have now risen to 37. (SaharaReporters)

Mamman Daura Placed Buhari On Monthly Salary After He Was Released From Prison, Says Ibrahim Ali Gombe |RN

**Don’t embark on a battle you cannot win” – Buhari supporter, Ibrahim Ali Gombe pens long open letter to Aisha Buhari

My Advice to Hajjia Ashia

My dear First Lady,

Be careful! Don’t embark on a battle you cannot win. Some battles are not worth fighting. It is better not to fight, at all, than to fight and lose. Losing such a battle would have unravelled your invincibility. Those feminism, buharists, you think that are standing or whispering all you want to hear about About ur extended family are doing all this all because of their selfish intrest of what they want to gain from you not certainly because of you or your children.

Mamman Daura is your husband’s closest uncle, Fatima Mamman, no matter how young she is, she remains your child . They are your in-laws. Show some respect. They are your husband’s family. They are an integral part of your family. They are not strangers.

Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari (Chief of Staff) are two personalities you cannot push away from President Buhari, your husband. Fine, you’re his wife; however, what these two have contributed in the life of your husband is inestimable and unquantifiable. Buhari is Abba Kyari. Abba Kyari is Mamman Daura. Mamman Daura is Buhari. They are inseparable.

When IBB, overthrew your husband as Head of State, locked him up in the prison for not less than 3 years, it was Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari were there for your husband in the prison. When he eventually regained his freedom without no benefits as a previous head of state. Mamman Daura placed your husband on salary through his companies payroll, so that your husband can still stand as a man in terms of fulfilling his responsibility as a family man without begging friends and relations for financial help. They staked everything for the success of your husband. Your husband knows and appreciates their contributions. No matter what anyone says, Buhari will not leave them.

I don’t know of any individual who has contributed, financially, morally, spiritually and physically to the success of your husband and family more than them. The journey among the trio of Buhari, Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari is a journey of more than 40 years, even before you came in as a wife. After all, you just came in 1996. Cool down enjoy your marriage and also enjoy your post as the First Lady of this country.

That your children were oppurtuned to be educated in good foreign universities are one of the numerous courtsey of Alhaji Mamman Daura and Abba kyari. Have you also forgotten, when they will sponsor your trips to Overseas for vacation, just to make sure that there is a big smile on the lips of their young admirable wife. My dear First Lady, how many Nigerian women are oppurtuned to have such in-laws, the answer is 99.9% women are not oppurtuned to have such in-laws, this shows how blessed you are.

In 2003, 2007, 2011 presidential campaigns, Abba Kyari was your husband’s chief financier. They risked everything for your husband. They believed in the man Buhari, even when he kept on failing his elections. It is the outcome of that risk they took that you are enjoying today, as the First lady. Indeed, God has used them for you also.

That your husband wants them around him is a sign of gratefulness. My dear First lady, have you also forgotten that before your husband became the president, that Muhammadu Buhari spent most of his evenings in the house of his best friend and uncle Mamman in Daura. It is on record that anyone that wants to see old General, once it is 4pm goes straight to Mamman’s house, because it is already a known tradition that baba Buhari must be there as far as he is in Daura. That Buhari wants him around him in the villa is a clear manifestation that Buhari is not an ingrate. He appreciates favour. Thus, he will not pay favour with ingratitude. One thing is certain, the Buhari we all know will not trade his trusted allies for anything or anyone. This also shows that your husband Muhammadu Buhari can never trade you for another woman unlike most men in power and Generals always do. This also shows how blessed you are.

Aso Villa is a temporary residence. In the next four years, you will pack out. Life in the Presidential Villa is transient, ephemeral and short-lived. Don’t be overwhelmingly obsessed with it. The Villa is not a family house and it’s not your husband’s house. Soldier go, soldier come. I was a bit emotional few days ago when Goodluck Jonathan visited Buhari in the Villa. Many changes have been effected. Buhari was the one showing Jonathan the way. Imagine. A place Jonathan just left in 2015.

Hajjia Aisha, if anything is wrong, which you don’t feel comfortable with; amicable resolution is the way out. You need not fight anyone or take anyone as a foe. Show love. Show respect. Show tolerance. Mamman Daura’s children are your children. Show no discrimination or animosity. What goes around comes around. No one knows tomorrow. Those we meet in the course of climbing the ladder of life are the same people we will while coming down. Once again, remember your root and where you started.

Maina: Kyari, Oyo-Ita Reconcile, Embrace Publicly During FEC Meeting |RN

Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winnifred Oyo-Ita, Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari during the FEC meeting.

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari; and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winnifred Oyo-Ita, on Wednesday embraced publicly before the commencement of the meeting of  Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The development came exactly a week after the two top government officials engaged in an altercation at the same venue.

Oyo-Ita, on arrival at the Council Chambers, venue of the meeting went straight to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and greeted him.

She was still discussing with Osinbajo when Kyari arrived.

All smiles, Kyari and Oyo-Ita embraced publicly as cameramen struggled to get good shots of the public display of affection.

Other members of the council clapped for them as the drama unfolded.

A heated argument took place between the two officials last week.

The altercation was believed to be based on Oyo-Ita’s leaked memo to Kyari on the controversial reinstatement and subsequent posting of the embattled former Chairman  of the Pension Reforms Commission,  Abdulrasheed Maina.

The mild drama played out in the presence of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate,  Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun; service chiefs and ministers.

Saraki, Dogara, Oyegun and the service chiefs were present to witness the inauguration of the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, as well as the inauguration of the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance emblem.

Mustapha succeeded in calming frayed nerves after Osinbajo and Kyari were seen engaging the visibly angry Head of Service in a discussion.

The Deputy Chief of Staff, Ade Ipaye, also moved in and persuaded Oyo-Ita to return to her seat when it became obvious that all those in attendance were watching the drama with keen interest.  (Punch)

You Are Irresponsible Journalists, Kyari, Oyo-Ita Never Quarelled, Says Presidency

garba-shehu

Presidential Media Aide, Mr Garba Shehu

From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

The Presidential Media Aide, Mr. Garba Shenhu has described media reports of a fight between top government officials at the State House as fabrications that could only have been conjured by correspondents who would probably make better fiction writers than journalists.

He continued his tirade on the journalists in a meeting with them Friday by branding them are mere irresponsible writers.

The presidency also denied that there is feud between the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari and the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita.

Shehu insisted that it was impossible for the conversation between Kyari, and Oyo-Ita to have been heard by any journalist, as the distance between the State House correspondents and the two government officials as they addressed the Vice President at Wednesday’s FEC meeting, would have made their conversation completely inaudible to the journalists.

It insisted that it was taking the matter beyond what it is to suggest that mere debate and argument over issues, translated to a feud, a fight or a clash.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Shehu, stated this in a short meeting with State House Correspondents at the the Media Center, to appeal to them to be  responsible in their reportage of the number seat of power in the country.

“By tradition, the media organizations send their best reporters to the State House. This should reflect, at all times on the quality of reporting.

“I am a journalist myself, and in journalism, you are not supposed to report anything other than the facts of what you heard or observed directly, or what you were told by a firsthand or authoritative eyewitness,” he said.

“You cannot add two and two to make twenty-two and present it to the public as news.”

According to him, “People can debate and argue over issues, but to suggest that there was a feud, a fight or a clash was to take matters beyond what they were.”

Shehu also denied categorically any suggestion that the two government officials had been summoned to see the President over the alleged skirmish, referring to that conclusion as yet another example of conjecture.

“Top government officials of that calibre see the President on a regular basis. To suggest that they were summoned to see him as a result of a so-called feud is just a fabrication, a conclusion that is below the level of responsible journalism that we expect from our State House correspondents,” he said.  (The Sun)
