Godwin Isenyo, Kaduna
Senator Shehu Sani has attacked Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and described his suspension from the All Progressives Congress in the state as worthless as “used tissue paper.”
In a statement after news emerged that he had been suspended by the party, the senator accused the governor of orchestrating the move and described el-Rufai as a “dubious progressive.”
He also slammed the members of the party’s executive in the state, saying they were being controlled, induced and misinformed by the governor.
Sani, who had an earlier suspension overturned by the national leadership of the APC, said the “new suspension” would not give the leaders of the party in the state “the public support they couldn’t gather with the “first suspension.”
He said, “For a man who has been unable to address the pervasive insecurity and genocide in southern Kaduna, for a man who has been unable to stem the tide of rampant kidnapping and abductions in Kaduna, ‘suspending’ Shehu Sani cannot be counted as an achievement.
“Mr. Governor, my suspension will not increase your physical height nor give you the flesh or muscle of a macho.
“El-Rufai remains a typical establishment man, who was brought to limelight by the Peoples Democratic Party, nurtured by the PDP. He is a dubious progressive and a bogus representation of change. If el-Rufai represents change, then Mobutu, Batista, Kamuzu Banda represent change.
“El-Rufai is a bug, a lice and a parasite to the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. His loyalty to PMB is nothing but self serving and self preservation. El- Rufai is a foul air to any serious concept of change.”
Sani also suggested that the “suspension” would not stop him from working for Nigerians.
“We will continue to work for the masses and defend their interest,” Sani, who represents Kaduna Central in the Senate, said.
But the state APC, which reacted on behalf of the governor and the party, described the senator as uncouth, shameless and disgraceful.
The party had on Tuesday suspended the embattled lawmaker indefinitely.
The APC stated that Sani “represents the politics of fraud and deceit.”
The Acting Publicity Secretary of the party, Salisu Tanko-Wusono, said the embattled lawmaker’s outburst was a confirmation, that he had no sense of shame.
“Shehu Sani’s outburst is a confirmation, that he has no sense of shame. He is a man full of tantrums and simultaneously entertains and distresses people with his shameless antics.
“He has since lost focus and why he was elected to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the good people of Kaduna Central under the banner of the APC.
“He represents fraud, deceit in the name of Nigeria’s masses. We suspended him indefinitely following his various anti-party activities and utterances aimed at tearing the party to pieces.
“The masses of Kaduna Central have since unraveled his deceit. His heart and mind are in the PDP whose agent he has been in our party. We wonder when he would gather the courage to publicly move to the party he hobnobs with in private.” (Punchng.com)
