The appellate court has sacked Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the @OfficialPDPNig National Chairman. The Appeal Court says he was fraudulently imposed by the Justice Okon Abang led panel. the three-member panel of justices of the Court of Appeal set aside Justice Abang’s judgement and recognised senators Ahmed Mohammed Markafi and Ben Obi as the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the secretary of the party respectively.
Details of the court decisions is not yet available at the time of this report. This may now set the record straight for PDP, which has been rocked by serious internal wrangling that has already damaged the party’s position as a strong opposition to the ruling party, APC.
Whether this would be accepted now by the Ali Modu Sheriff faction or be thrown away as they did before now, remains to be seen. He could take his case further to the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court. But that is a very serious political gamble.
