The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra on Thursday said the outgoing United States President, Barack Obama, disappointed pro-Biafra agitators.
The MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, said in a statement on Thursday that the group was glad that the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, won the US presidential election.
Madu said the pro-Biafra activists had been celebrating Trump’s victory at the MASSOB headquarters at Okwe in Imo State since Wednesday that the election result was announced.
The celebration, it was gathered from Madu, was informed by the group’s expectation that Trump would back the pro-Biafra struggle.
The MASSOB leader expressed disappointment that Obama, “a fellow African”, failed to support the Biafra agitators’ bid to break away from Nigeria.
“The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra jubilates over the emergence of Donald Trump as the new President of the United States of America.
“MASSOB headquarters, Okwe, is agog with jubilation. We support a Republican because we felt disappointed that Barack Obama, a fellow African who shares and understands the predicament of the people of Biafra, abandoned Biafra’s agitation for independence from Nigeria,” Madu said in the statement.
He added that MASSOB and Trump had the same “nature” and shared similar aspirations, saying that the group would support Trump’s administration.
He said, “Today in Biafra land, we rejoice because a Republican who shares our nature and aspirations won against all odds.
“MASSOB will work with the new US President for total breakthrough in the political, economic and religious domination of the people of Africa.”
Madu urged Trump to show “more concern” for the pro-Biafra campaign.
“Though some Africans may hate Donald Trump, the people of Biafra love him,” he said.
The pro-Biafra group equally chided Prophet T. B. Joshua, the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, for reportedly predicting that Clinton would win the election.
“MASSOB also blast T. B. Joshua for his latest false prophecy against the new USA President,” he said. (Punch.ng.com)
