Coach Samson Siasia celebrating with the team
So many Nigerian sports or precisely football enthusiasts were very unease concerning the late arrival of Nigerian dream team to the city of their very first match against Japan in the ongoing Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
Some Nigerians were disgusted by the fact that such treatment were given to our U-23 team after all the denial by the Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung defending that there is no such thing.
They arrived late to Rio just few hours to their opening match against Japan. Other countries’ teams arrived as early as one week in advance. This is usually advised to help the teams to settle in well and acclimatise to the environment and weather.
The effect of jet lag was limpidly expressed in our boys by the way they conceded more goals to Japan than they should have. Though some fans argued that the boys did fantastically well but they should have beaten Japan by better margin than 5-4 in the final score.
We all hope now that they will settle in and give us a far better match against Columbia in their next match.
It is all but congratulations to the dream team judging from the odds they went through to make it a victorious match.
