This article is not at all intended to bash or insult people of Islamic faith and their religion. But it is an objective and insightful diagnosis of the unbribbled obsession for virgnity of young maidens, and its correlation to high rate of underage marriages among Moslems.
It is defnitely not the intention of the writer to insult or in any manner derograte or cheapen the Islamic faith. But certain things invoked the appetite for this article. Several cases of underage marriages among Moslem faithfuls in Northern Nigeria, and other cases in Moslem countries around the globe. So, the writer wanted to asertain if it is really part of the faith.
It is relevant to bring facts from the Qu’ran into this atricle to find out if it is actually true about virgins in paradise or heaven. Also see if these have influence on why Moslem men want to marry virgins, and mostly to underage girls.
“Verily, for the Muttaqun [righteous], there will be a success (paradise); gardens and grapeyards; and young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age; and a full cup (of wine)” (An-Naba 78:31-34). Whoa, one thinks — the Kingdom of Heaven meets the Playboy Advisor!
However, most other English translations, both on-line and in print, replace “full-breasted maidens” with some tame construction such as “companions.” Inquiring further, we find that the Arabic word at issue is WakawaAAiba, which appears nowhere else in the Koran. The French, less prudish in these matters, usually render it as something like des belles aux seins arrondis, “beautiful women with round breasts,” so I think it’s pretty clear what the Prophet, or at least his stenographers, had in mind
Nothing in the Koran specifically states that the faithful are allotted 72 virgins apiece. For this elaboration we turn to the hadith, traditional sayings traced with varying degrees of credibility to Muhammad. Hadith number 2,562 in the collection known as the Sunan al-Tirmidhi says, “The least [reward] for the people of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome of pearls, aquamarine and ruby.”
Even if we leave out the racy detail and make allowances for metaphor, we’re obliged to admit that Islamic heaven is a pretty rockin’ place, with an emphasis on sensual pleasures. The provision of virgins in indeterminate quantities is alluded to at numerous points, and you know they’re not just there to fluff the pillows. (In fairness to the Prophet, the physical quality usually attributed to the houris, as they’re called, is “wide lovely eyes.”) The food, service, ambience, etc, are great. You’re allowed to enjoy things the Koran explicitly denies you on earth, such as alcohol, and you won’t even get sick. (“Wine … delicious to those who drink it … will neither dull their senses nor they will become drunk.”) Granted, the whole thing is skewed toward the male idea of a good time, a defect by no means confined to Islam.
Now, let’s go further and bring more Qu’ran quotes into it. The righteous shall return to a blessed retreat: the gardens of Eden, whose gates shall open wide to receive them. Reclining there with bashful virgins for companions, they will call for abundant fruit and drink. Quran 38:51-2,.
On that day [the unbelievers] shall be sternly thrown into the fire of Hell . . . But in fair gardens the righteous shall dwell in bliss, rejoicing in what their Lord will give them. Their Lord will shield them from the scourge of Hell. He will say: Eat and drink to your hearts content. This is the reward of your labours.
They shall recline on couches ranged in rows. To dark-eyed houris [virgin girls] We shall wed them. . . . Fruit We shall give them, and such meats as they desire. They will pass from hand to hand a cup inspiring no idle talk, no sinful urge; and there shall wait on them young boys of their own, as fair as virgin pearls. Quran 52:13-24,
Now, these are enough quotes from Qu’ran and Hadith. It is very obvious that the holy Qu’ran made several references to virgins as rewards for the Moslem faithfuls in the paradise.
The Prophet Mohammed used to go round (have sexual relations with) all his wives in one night, and he had nine wives.
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 6
The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with ‘Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88
Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64
It is better for a girl to marry in such a time when she would begin menstruation at her husband’s house rather than her father’s home. Any father marrying his daughter so young will have a permanent place in heaven.
So From these quotes from both the holy Qu’ran, Hadith, and direct words from the prophet himself, and other Islamic scholars, like Ayatollah Khomeini clearly states that a virgin must be married before she could have her first menstruation.
Medically the first menstruation in a girl child appears bewteen the age of 8yrs to 13 yrs. So, it could be seen here why most Moslems prefer their wives to be virgin gril, who are indeed underage girls. The prophet Mohammed himself, (peace be unto him), contracted his marriage with Aisha while she was 6yrs old, and consumated his marriage with her when she was 9yrs old. This is very clear here why, this is a culture among Moslems in several countries, and very rampant in the Northern Nigeria among Moslems there.
In fact the Islamic scholars enocouraged parents to marry their daughters out before their first mensturation, and even told them that those parents will have a permanent place in paradise.
Ladies and gentlemen, Ese Oruru’s case, and Senator Yerima marriage to 12 old girl, and so many cases are not something out of place. But it is a culture that came right from the holy Qu’ran, and instructions given to Moslem faithfuls to aspire to. It is so mind boggling that this pedophilic culture is well enshrined in the holy book, that every faithful would be obliged to strive to it, if he or she wants to go to paradise. This is amazing indeed.
