Three Teenagers, 20 year Old Gang Rape A Minor In Lagos
Three teenagers and a young adult, were today in Lagos remanded in prison custody over an alleged gang rape of their 14 year old neighbour. The accused persons are Femi Olatunji, 18; Rasheed Oyekanmi, 18; Habeeb Oladele, 18 and John Alade, who is the only adult among them is 20.
They were today, 27th of January, brought before an Ikeja magistrates’ court charged for conspiracy, child defilement, and rape. Though they pleaded not guilty to the charges, the magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, ordered that they be remanded in prison following their confessions during arraignment. She further directed that the matter be handed over to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and adjourned the case to April 7 for trial.
Before that, the police prosecutor, Insp. Simon Imhonwa, had told the court that the accused persons committed the offences on Jan. 11 at their residence located at No. 16, Ige Avenue, Bariga, Lagos state. The police prosecutor said that the first accused lured their victim into his room where she was gang raped.
He said “as soon as she entered the room, the first accused overpowered her. The second, the third and fourth persons, also came into the room and took turns in raping her” Imhonwa said. “The offences contravened Sections 135, 137, 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2011”, he added.
