Few days ago was the dead of a Monarch in Delta State by the Fulani herdsmen, after he was kidnapped and later found dead in the bush.
Yesterday 24th January, Fulani herdsmen struck again in Adamawa state, killing 30 people and a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Mr Okezie Okoroafor.
He was the DPO of the Vunokilang police station in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa state. It was reported by the media that it was Fulani herdsmen that carried out the attacks.
The divisional police officer was among the 30 dead believed to have been killed by the marauding herdsmen in an attack in many villages in Girei LGA.
Reports from the area had it that the attacks may have been in revenge over a feud between the local farmers and the marauding herdsmen.
The divisional police officer was reportedly ambushed by the herdsmen as he was leading the police officers into the villages under attack by the herdsmen.
The spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the death of DPO Okezie Okoroafor.
The police maintained that the situation is “under control”, and that those will be brought to justice.
