The ex deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has described the recent retrenchment of over 3000 workers by Gov. Rochas Okorocha, as “utterly reckless, insensitive and absolutely lacking in economic sense”.
It was the considered opinion of the former Deputy Speaker that “having anchored his election campaign mantra on job, industry, factory and employment, Imo people looked forward to more jobs, employment opportunities and improved working conditions instead of disengaging the already demoralized workers”.
He condemned Governor Okorocha’s move for sacking thousands of workers as the only means to addressing economic issues facing the state.
“Choosing to sack thousands of workers as the only viable option to tackling the state’s dwindled economic base is unfortunate, senseless, uncharitable and anachronistic”, Chief Ihedioha said.
But it could also be recalled that Gov. Rochas Okorocha spoke about his new slogan as jobs, jobs, jobs. Is he creating jobs by sacking 3000 workers in the same state he promised to create jobs?
